A chapter hundred and eighteen (Camilla's POV continues)

“Aunt Brit?” Karla squeaks, her gaze shifting from me to her aunt on the floor.

“Don't worry, she'll be fine. I promise, pinky promise she just fell asleep. Must be tired from arguing with your dad.” I tell her, a playful grin appearing on my face and she mirrors it, cute kid.

“Was that necessary?” Kingston asks, looking back at his sister in law.

“Was that necessary?” I echo, my tone mimicking him.

Karla laughs, and I swear she just made my day better than it was. She has a nice laugh, I wonder if she gets it from her dad. No Camilla, hearing him laugh won't light up your day as much as his daughter's laugh did.

The Uber driver is still loitering in the same position we left him, I slip into the back seat Kingston on the other end with Karla in his lap who refuses to sit on her own.

“Daddy, what's your friend's name?” she asks, her hands playing with her dress.

“My friend, which friend is that?”

“Her,” she whispers, curling up against his chest to lie low from me.
