The door slammed behind her.

Rayne stalked down the corridor like a force of nature, each step echoing her fury through the stone hallways of Valen’s keep. The guards she passed stiffened and quickly bowed their heads, sensing her energy—thick, dark, volatile. No one dared speak. No one dared move.

She didn’t stop until she reached the war hall. Two guards stood at the door.

“Open it,” she barked.

They hesitated. One of them blinked, confused. “Alpha… the interrogation—”

“I said open it!”

The doors flew open with a heavy creak, revealing the room inside.

The Ironfang scouts were still there, chained to the central posts, bruised but alive. Garran stood nearby, arms folded, keeping silent watch like a loyal sentinel. Jace leaned over the central table, studying a blood-smeared map. He looked up at the sound of her entrance.

“Rayne—” he started.

She didn’t answer.

Her eyes were burning, her breath uneven. Seraphine’s words still echoed in her head:

“We’re stronger than ever.”

  • Alpha's Hidden Luna   Chapter Eighty Five: The Price Of Clarity

The night sky was a canvas of restless stars and storm-stirred clouds when Rayne rode out of the Eastern Highlands. The heavy gates groaned closed behind her, but the ache in her chest roared louder than any iron hinge. The wind whipped through her cloak, her wolf pacing restlessly beneath her skin, sensing the turmoil inside her. Her fists clenched the reins as her horse galloped into the dark, hooves pounding the earth in rhythm with her pulsing thoughts. Rayne’s thoughts swirled like a tempest—Lucian’s confession, Seraphine’s intrusion, the way his voice cracked when he said her name. She should have felt closure. But the truth had only carved deeper wounds. Why didn’t he fight harder? Why didn’t I?Her chest constricted. There had been a moment—brief but blinding—where she’d thought they might begin again. That under the fire of past betrayals, something still survived. But Seraphine’s venom, Lucian’s hesitation, the entire encounter—it reminded her just how fragile hope could be

As Rayne walked in through the gate, she felt the presence of the Eastern Highlands wolves watching her, curious but distant. She wasn’t one of them. And they could feel it.She was led inside, through corridors filled with carved archways and echoes of authority. Every step closer to him brought a surge of emotions she fought hard to keep buried. Finally, the guard stopped outside a tall wooden door.“He’s inside.”Rayne nodded, waited for the guard to leave, then steadied herself before pushing the door open.Lucian stood at the far end of the room, near a window overlooking the valley. He was alone, dressed in a dark tunic, the weight of leadership draped across his shoulders. But the moment the door creaked, he turned. And froze. His eyes locked onto hers, and for a long, heavy moment, silence filled the space between them like a thundercloud.Rayne stepped inside, pulling back her hood slowly.Lucian’s eyes widened.“Rayne…”She gave him a faint smile, but it didn’t reach her eye

The air atop the war tower tasted of rain—crisp, sharp, and full of promises it didn’t intend to keep.Rayne hadn’t moved for over an hour.Below her, the Valen stronghold pulsed with restless energy. Warriors trained. Scouts darted in and out of the gates. Garran had doubled the guards per her command. Jace had updated the patrol routes. Everything was in motion for war, and still—her heart wasn’t in it. Not fully. Not yet.She felt… unbalanced. Like she was standing in two realities at once. One where she was the Alpha of the Valen wolves, leading them into a war that would define their survival. And another where she was just Rayne, the girl who once believed she could steal moments of happiness from the gods if she was careful enough. But she hadn’t been careful. And now the gods were asking for repayment in blood.Footsteps approached behind her—measured and slow. She didn’t need to look to know who it was.“Don’t try to talk me down,” she murmured, her voice hollow. “I’ve alread

  • Alpha's Hidden Luna   Chapter Eighty Two: Heartaches, War Gates

The moon hung low that night, casting pale, sickly light across the Valen stronghold.Rayne sat at the edge of her bed, elbows on her knees, hands tangled in her hair. The fortress was quiet, but inside her, a storm churned—louder than any war drum, more violent than any sword clash. She hadn’t slept. Not a second. The images wouldn’t leave her.The Ironfang prisoners—blood gushing from their throats, lifeless bodies collapsed on the stone floor. The look on Jace’s face when he grabbed her arm, pulled her away, eyes wide with disbelief. Even Garran had been silent. She had silenced them all with that one impulsive act of rage.It hadn’t been justice. It had been emotion. And she, an Alpha, had acted like a rabid pup.Rayne stood and crossed to the window, gripping the cold frame as she looked out at the silent night. The torches in the courtyard flickered below. Her wolves were asleep, resting, trusting her to protect them. And yet, all she could think about was Seraphine. The woman’s

The parchment was still damp with blood when it reached Ironfang territory.Cain had made sure of that. The message—crudely scrawled in sharp, red ink across the stretched hide of an enemy scout—was nothing short of a declaration of war."Three of your own. Slaughtered without trial. Let this be your reward for crossing Alpha Rayne Valen."It was a lie, of course. The truth was more complicated. But Cain didn’t need the truth. He needed fury. He needed chaos. And as the Ironfang warriors read the message aloud in the heart of their war camp, he saw exactly what he wanted reflected in their eyes—rage.Snarls broke out.Shouts filled the air.Beta Roth slammed his fist against a tree trunk, cracking the bark. “She dares butcher our warriors and mock us?”Another warrior spat on the ground. “We should burn her precious fortress to the ground!”Cain stood just outside the center of the camp, watching them boil. His cloak whipped behind him in the wind like the shadow of a vulture circling
