Chapter 5 Was Catherine dead too?

Scarlett's point of view...

I heard those footsteps getting closer, and terror took hold of me again. I had to drag myself into the tree hole. Not less than a mile away, I sensed the presence of three shadowy figures.

They had been smelling, and they might use my blood as a point of exchange. I am not sure how long I could manage to hide from them given the numerous bleeding wounds all over my body.

My neck aches even though the pain in my head has lessened. When I extended my hand to check on the bleeding wound, I was shocked to find that my skin had already covered the bite wound.

How exactly...? Could it be that my magic had become active or something else?

Could it be that before leaving, that rogue licked my wound? Did his saliva heal me?

Wait...! Is he an Alpha?

I heard the footsteps moving away from me as I focused.

I finally released the breath I had been holding for so long.

I reached out for the leather jacket that my mysterious savior left behind and wrapped it around me.

It was so pleasing.

After waiting for a long while, I closed my eyes once more and fell into a deep, uncontrollably asleep state.

I was unable to stay awake despite my intense desire to do so. It could be a result of the healing influence.

I coughed and flicked my eyes open after what seemed like an eternity, disturbed by a strong odor.

Something akin to the smell of charred wood, burned flesh, and blood. It was so annoying that it felt like someone had purposefully set a lamb on fire.

That smell was too strong for me to detect until I looked over my shoulder and saw smoke and flames billowing from the opposite direction. I could see everything more clearly now that it had somewhat dawned. Those beasts were nowhere around.

Smoke was everywhere.

What just happened?

Was the entire forest on fire?

Where is that man? Is he dead too?

The smoke was coming from the direction of the pack house from where I ran out. I was taken aback upon seeing it.

Is it possible that the entire pack house caught fire? What exactly happened?

Was Catherine dead too?

My heart sank as I just imagined it. Considering that she came from a divine bloodline as well, I reasoned that Alpha Xian would not kill her right away and that I could find a way to save her from that hell, but!

And then, as if I were seeing things in a hazy dreamtime, I noticed a figure coming out of the smoke and heading toward me.

He was the one...! My savior...!

He was far stronger than Alpha Xian, so much so that I gasped for air as I saw him. Masculine with a flawless "V"-shaped physique.

I had not been able to see him well in the dark before, except for his attractive face, but now that the morning light was shining on him, I could clearly see his massive and powerful frame.

The way he strode around like a perpetual monarch, full of daring and dominance, as though the world were his own.

He strode closer, making himself even more visible to me. His brown hair fell in flocks the length of his ears, which stroked his forehead as he moved.

Despite having a younger appearance than Alpha Xian, his rugged features make it obvious that he is not a member of the woodland community.

Tall, broad, with deep brown hair and a chiseled jawline, he appeared too attractive to be a rogue.

It's even more clear when he walked over to me and stood beside me. And it was then that I noticed that his whole self was drenched in blood, even his face was covered with sprinkled blood.

I panicked. All the fantasy that I had was fumed in just a few seconds. Fear crept into my heart as he stood like a tyrant, a warlord who had just killed an army alone.

Did he just kill the entire pack? It was dreadful to even imagine.

Other than the Alpha, his Beta and other wolves in the pack were all warriors, it was impossible for him alone to fight against them. I must be imagining things.

How could he do it alone?

If he did, just why did he kill them all?

How cruel he might be to do so...! There were pubs and females too. They were all innocent. I was so scared of him.

His grey eyes narrowed as he stared at me.

I felt his gaze piercing through my skin, inching every single hair of my body and every single thread of the shabby gown I was wearing.

I belong to that pack too. Did he have any grudge against them? Will he kill me right away?

With my little body, I might not be able to fill his stomach though.

I stared at him blankly without even blinking.

Why was he staring at me like a predator?

He just killed the entire pack single-handedly.

He might have killed Catherine too.

I can't trust him.

I can't.

"Hey kid..." I was lost in those suspicious thoughts when his voice boomed in.

Kid...!

Those words echoed in my ears smacking me out of the chain of thoughts I was wandering in.

He waved his hand before my eyes as if trying to find out that I was alive.

I blinked silently from inside that burrow, like a terrified little rabbit.

"Hey kid, Are you all right?" he added and I nodded.

Though he just helped me, his voice was not at all gentle or friendly. He had a dreadful commanding aura around him.

Yet to my annoyance, I still felt a sense of security with him.

Why the hell would I? What's wrong with me?

At least he is not as brutal as that beast towards me. But still, I felt embarrassed when he called me 'Kid'.

That's fine though, I can't complain about him calling me a kid. Standing before me is a man of about six and a half feet in height along with a toned masculine body.

In front of him, my humble frame was more like a kid's, and due to the pill I took every day, my growth was stopped.

I don't have bulged breasts or hips to prove myself as a seventeen-year-old who had already gotten a wolf and was ready to be mated.

Besides, I will not mind if he calls me a kid as long as I can feel safe around him in this way.

His eyes were slowly shifting from one side to the other as he scanned me. I was nervous because he had a slight frown on his face.

What does he want to find? I pondered.

  • Alpha's Hidden Mate   Chapter 99 The end....!

Author's point of view... The great palace of Panoma was adorned in splendour, its ancient walls draped with banners of gold and crimson, the colours of the royal family. The air buzzed with excitement as throngs of citizens from all corners of the kingdom gathered to witness the most significant event in decades, the three royal weddings. The atmosphere was electric, filled with joy and anticipation as the people came to bless the divine couples who would lead their kingdom into a new era. Adrian stood at the edge of the grand courtyard, watching as Aiden, Aaron, and their brides stood before the High Priestess, who presided over the ceremonies. Aiden, looked regal in his ceremonial attire, though there was a tension in his shoulders that only his brothers could see. Aaron, beside him, had an expression of quiet contentment, his eyes never straying far from Catherine, who stood gracefully by his side. The bond between them was palpable, a living testament to the power of

  • Alpha's Hidden Mate   Chapter 98 I won't be a Second Choice...!

Author's point of view... The next day morning, Adrian received an invitation from his father. He gently informed Scarlett that they needed to attend a royal wedding at the palace. He was deliberately vague, not wanting to burden her with more information than necessary as he didn't know what exactly was happening at the palace. Perhaps selfishly avoiding the conversation that he knew might hurt her. She might not take it easy if he told her that Catherine was going to get married to his brother, the one who was insane a day before. Adrian hesitated. Scarlett, however, was already bracing herself for the worst. She heard the rumours from the members of the packhouse. The rumours said that after reaching the capital, Princess Alina would be married to Prince Adrian and deep down, she was certain that the wedding in question was Adrian’s. After all, who else but the future Alpha would be marrying Princess Alina? The thought of being a mere mistress to a married man filled her w

  • Alpha's Hidden Mate   Chapter 97 I love you Scarlett...

Author's point of view... When Scarlett woke up after a few hours, she found a familiar young boy standing at the door. Van stood in silence and was staring at her in disbelief. He looked shocked, surprised and bewildered at the same time. He heard that the little girl he met at the packhouse was Adrian's mate, it was already something that he couldn't believe. But when Dan told him that she was all grown up, Van laughed at him. He never in his dreams had ever imagined that she would be grown up so fast. After staring at her for a while, he snapped out of the maze as Scarlett threw a pillow on his face. "Weirdo...!" she shouted, "Take me to the packhouse" she demanded. Van was speechless. He nodded and escorted her to the penthouse instead of the packhouse as Adrian commanded him. He left her behind and reported it to Adrian . As everything was under control, Adrian arranged a place for Catherine to stay and left the packhouse under Dan's responsibility. Scarlet

  • Alpha's Hidden Mate   Chapter 96 Unexpected revelation...!

Author's point of view... The moment Catherine stepped inside the pack house, a shift in the air was palpable. Aaron, who had been subdued and restrained, suddenly began thrashing against his bindings, his once lifeless eyes now burning with a wild intensity. His growls echoed through the halls, and it took several pack members, including Adrian’s younger brother Aiden, to hold him down long enough to tie him securely to his bed. Adrian, still reeling from the guilt of bringing Catherine here, was alarmed at Aaron’s sudden change. The witch doctor seemed unfazed, though, his focus solely on the task at hand. He ushered Catherine down the dimly lit corridor toward the chamber where the ritual was to take place. “I assure you,” the witch doctor murmured, his voice laced with a strange excitement, “this will only take a moment, and then we will know for certain the extent of your abilities.” Catherine nodded, trying to steady her nerves. She had agreed to help, convinced that

  • Alpha's Hidden Mate   Chapter 95 I am ready to leave...!

Author's point of view... Getting back to his apartment, Adrian entered his penthouse quietly, his mind heavy with the choices he had to make. The dim lighting cast long shadows across the walls, and the usually comforting silence felt suffocating. He glanced around the room, his eyes falling on Scarlett, who had fallen asleep on the couch in the hall instead of her room. Her petite frame was curled up, her chest rising and falling gently with each breath. For a moment, Adrian just stood there, watching her sleep. The innocence on her face, the peacefulness in her expression, it was a stark contrast to the turmoil raging inside him. He approached her slowly, his footsteps barely making a sound against the floor. As he got closer, the weight of his decisions pressed down on him even more. He knelt beside the couch, gently touched her hair, tucking them behind her ear. She looked so beautiful and his heart skipped a beat. "Will you hate me even more, tomorrow?" he mumbled to

  • Alpha's Hidden Mate   Chapter 94 Which promise to break...!

Author's point of view... Adrian’s mind raced as he watched his father’s retreating figure. They were going towards the hidden wing, the place where Aaron was kept. The ultimatum hung over him like a death sentence, but it was the realization of what he had to do next that filled him with dread. His father’s fury was undeniable, and the witch doctor’s presence was a stark reminder of how serious the situation had become. There was no time left for half-measures or secret plans. Adrian clenched his fists, trying to push away the guilt that gnawed at him. He had vowed to protect Scarlett, to keep her safe from the dangers that came with her bloodline. The divine blood that flowed through her veins was not just rare, it was sacred, a gift and a curse in equal measure. Revealing it would paint a target on her back, one that he knew would bring nothing but danger. But as he sensed the impending doom hanging over his brother, he realized he had no choice. “Father, wait!” Ad
