Lucien's POV

Even after I had entered my bedroom, I still held my face where Davina had left her palm print, the memory playing over and over like a broken disc.

It was not just the slap, it was the overall attitude that came with it. Maybe it was the pure adulterated hatred I saw in her eyes.

I didn't want to tell her that nonsense about being my Luna. Hell, I didn't want her as my Luna.

But the moment I entered the room and saw her talking to Rowan, not shouting or glaring or threatening to kill— actually talking— something tightened inside of me. I said that to punish her because I knew how much she hated me.

The next day came and I did not see her. She was probably staying out of my way, and I did not want to ask of her even though I was tempted to do so. Another day passed, then the third day. I had to check if she was still alive. Though I knew she was. If she died, I would feel it through the pack bond.

I shoved back my ego and walked to her room. I knocked once and I got no response. But I knew she was in there. Her rich scent of jasmine and lavender filled my nose, and I tried to block off the calming effects.

Pushing the door open, I entered. I met her on the bed, her gaze already on the door, glaring at whoever was behind it before I even stepped in. Unlike me, she could not smell me until she sees me. She didn't have a wolf yet.

Her eyes assessed me carefully, as if she was searching for a secret weapon.

I would admit, it was difficult to watch her go from that sweet person that always craved my presence, to this cold version of her that seem to distrust and despise my very being.

"What are you doing in my room?" She asked, as if to confirm, when she couldn't find anything in my hand.

"I don't need a weapon to kill you, Davina, if that is what you're afraid of."

Her gaze narrowed, her eyes still suspicious. "If you are not here to kill me, what are you here for then?"

"I think I miss you." I meant that as sarcasm, but coming out of my lips, it felt like there was a truth to it. I refused to acknowledge that.

Davina was the daughter of Gideon Carson, the man that destroyed me in ways crueler than anyone deserved.

"I think you should get out."

Maybe I should. But I stepped forward instead, and her heart rate spiked. She raised the blankets to herself as of it would save her if I wanted to hurt her.

I took a good look at Davina, wondering what I was going to do with her. Kane suggested that I just kill her and be done with it, but that was not even in the options.

Davina sprang up suddenly, holding a dagger out. "If you dare come any closer, I will plant this in your chest and make sure you don't survive it."

The feistiness took me by surprise. It was something I had not seen before, and a smile curved my lips. It made me wonder what she had been busy doing.

"If you want to go for the kill, you should at least learn how to hold the dagger correctly. You can easily be disarmed this way." With a little movement and twist of hand from me, I took the dagger from her. "See what I mean?"

She shot me a glare that could melt the Titanic iceberg. Maybe she thought it would distract me from the way her cheeks flamed in embarrassment.

There it was. The Davina I knew.

"Give me the dagger." She demanded, while I just played with it, rolling it in my hand.

"And it was unwise for you to aim at my throat. I am too tall for you." I played with the sharp blade, and that seemed to make her wince, and I outrightly rolled my eyes. "You want to kill me, but you are scared that the knife might cut me?"

"Some of us are not heartless." She murmured, and I smiled. Pretending that those words didn't have the same effect as this dagger pushed into my chest.

"So do you want me dead or not?"

"I will kill you." She sounded so certain.

"Get another dagger. This one is too heavy for your body type."

"I didn't ask you to give me dagger lessons. I said you should leave my room." She pointed towards the door, and for some reason, leaving this room didn't seem like what I was looking forward to anymore.

"Give me the dagger."

I ignored that. "Makes me think, do you always sleep with a dagger next to you?" When she didn't answer, I continued. "And you didn't even wait to expose that secret to your enemy. Are you even sure you are serious about killing me?"

Davina clenched her jaw. "You will know the answer to that when I finally end you."

I refrained from rolling my eyes. "You talk bold for someone whose hand trembles from holding a dagger."

"I am trembling because I can't stand you."

Ouch.

"This is your first attempt of trying to kill me, Little Rose. If I am to rate your performance by percentage, you get a three. A three over hundred."

Mortification and anger flamed her face.

"I expect better next time. Get smarter, do something creative."

"Fucking bastard." She murmured.

"That's a strange way to pronounce Alpha."

Davina's face morphed into something else. Something cold, and totally different from the girl she had always been. "You are not, and you will never be my Alpha."

The words felt heavy, they hung in the air, creating a tension sharp enough to cut.

"We will see about that."

I turned around to leave.

"My dagger." Davina demanded.

"It is mine now. I earned it."

With that, I stepped out of her room.

Davina's POVI shook my head quickly, feeling a little too embarrassed. "No."She made a small sound that showed that she didn't believe me. But she didn't argue."Lorraine." Lucien acknowledged her, and Raine gave him a small smile."Alpha Lucien. Good to see you again." I wondered if she meant that or was just being polite. Raine was difficult to read most times."I will just seat over here." She was about to take a seat at an empty table, when Sienna called her back."No, no. Join Marco and me. Maxwell was here, but he just met his mate. I'm sure he will not be returning anytime soon.""You're sure?"Sienna nodded. "Sure."I went back to sitting with Lucien. I wondered if he was bothered by Raine's presence, but when I looked at him, I saw him staring at me. Raine also seemed to be avoiding his gaze."Thanks for the save." She whispered, her gratitude sounding geniune even though her voice was lower than usual. It was obvious she was upset. She could not even pretend as usual.I wa

Davina's POVMy heart was in a wild ride tonight. Lucien was being too sweet with his actions and words, and he was getting increasingly difficult to ignore.I decided to focus my gaze on the ceremony. On the far left of the hall, some ladies were seated on round tables, drinking and chattering softly. They were the unmated she-wolves, usually the daughters of Alphas, Betas, Gammas and other high ranking wolves. The unmated male wolves were somewhere else. They would start coming in soon, and the main ceremony would begin. Instant matches would be made among fated mates, while some that don't really care about the mate bond would end up courting who they like, and if things go well, they would end up as chosen mates.Lucien and I were led to a round table in the front right corner. Alpha Maxwell, Marco and Sienna were there already, and I wondered if I would see Alpha Theodore. I truly wasn't looking forward to it.The three Alphas looked up at us, Sienna's eyes narrowing suspiciously

Davina's POVIt was finally the day of the ball in the Moonfall clan. Lucien had sent Omegas to my room to help me dress up, and now, they were done.I was currently standing in front of the mirror in my room, and I was surprised by the woman staring back at me.I had gone with the black rhinestone dress. The dress clung to me like a second skin, hugging my curves in all the right places. Thin spaghetti straps slid over my shoulders, extending low to form a cross at my back. The front was daring without being vulgar—just enough dip to tease the neckline. A long bold slit ran up one leg, exposing a generous amount of fair thigh. The rhinestones shimmered in the soft light of my room, making me feel like my presence would be difficult to miss. My hair had been swept to the side in soft, tumbling waves, exposing the bare lines of my shoulders and back.A little touch of makeup— made bold by the deep red lipstick on my lips —was added to my face to enhance the whole thing, and the silvery

Davina's POVA week after Raine had left, I could not deny the fact that I missed her. Our friendship dynamic was truly weird. Before I betrayed her, she was the one to always seek me out, chattering every time with me even when I didn't always return her energy. On the other hand, the dynamic between Lucien and I was tense as fuck. I do try to avoid him, but there was only so little I could do when we live together. It didn't help that my body had no resistance to him, and I would always melt with a single touch.I was in my room, engrossed in one of my books when someone knocked on my door. My wolf perked up when she smelled Lucien. And my heart skipped. Everything seemed to be against me.But I still held on to my decision. I would only get sexual with him, but I would never commit. He opened the door and stepped in. And that was when I realized something."You can open my door."He nodded. "Yes."They had changed my door after the incident with the dead flowers and rat to somethin

  • Alpha's Obsession: Falling For My Enemy's Daughter   Chapter 46: No need staying

Davina's POVFor almost a minute, I didn't react. I was unable to. My mind couldn't come up with anything that made even a little bit of sense.I could not help but wonder if he was telling me this because he regretted what he did to me. But the scar was too deep, and crack between us could never be mended."They were friends, you know." Lucien said, taking me by surprise. "My father was the Alpha, while yours was an Elder of the pack and his closest friend."A heavy, unyielding weight settled in my throat, difficult to swallow. I looked away from Lucien, feeling a pang of guilt even though it was not my sin. But while he mourned his family, I lived a good life with the man who murdered them."Your father got jealous of mine. His money, his influence and the love everyone had for him." His eyes shut briefly, his jaw clenched tightly, like it physically hurt to recount the story. "You want to know how he killed him?"I swallowed, before nodding."He used poison. He poisoned him when th

Lucien's POVDavina was limp in my arms as I carried her to my room. Her dazed eyes were just staring at me, and right now, I would give everything to know what was going on in her mind. I expected her to protest against me taking her to my room instead of hers, but she just remained quiet. After shutting the door, I carried her to the bathroom, setting her to sit on the counter."Stay." My voice was gentle this time. A request. Not a command. She watched as I put the shower on, steam filling the space around me.The fact that she was still not saying anything to me unsettled me. Did I go too far? Did I hurt her?A heaviness settled in my chest, and I was unable to stand the silence.I walked back to her, taking both her hands and inspecting her wrists. They were still very red from the straps."Does it hurt?" I asked, gently massaging them with my thumbs.Davina shook her head."Was it too tight?" I couldn't help but worry. She shook her head again."What is it then? Did I do somethi
