“Where the hell have you been?!” Rock hissed as he opened the door to find Jonathan and me standing on his doorstep.I could see the fiery anger outlining his dark eyes, sending a wave of chills down my spine. It’s been about a week since I signed the contract, and this was the first encounter I’ve had with him since then.I knew he would be pissed at the fact that I’ve been avoiding him. But since finding out about my mother’s affair with Boris Conway, I wanted to find out what’s in that box more than anything.“I’ve been busy,” I muttered as I stepped inside.Jonathan trailed closely behind me; he kept his eyes on Rock and was ready to attack if Rock made any foul attempts. I felt protected with him there and appreciated that he kept near me.“We have a contract,” Rock reminded me. I rolled my eyes.“How could I forget,” I spat sarcastically. “Dr. Emily will be here shortly,” Rock informed me as I took a seat beside Jonathan on the couch. The house was quieter than usual and then
Ronnie wanted to talk right then and there, but both she and Arina knew it wouldn’t be a good idea with Rock and Melissa lurking somewhere around the house. So, Arina suggested that Ronnie came to Sabrebite when she could, and they could talk at her home.Ronnie was nervous because she’s never been to Sabrebite; this would be the first time she visited Arina at her home. She wouldn’t be able to tell Rock she was going there because he would know something was up. Which meant, she also couldn’t tell Melissa knowing that she would probably bring it up to Rock. As much as Rock physically and emotionally hurts her, she still bends over backward for him in hopes of strengthening their obviously failed marriage. Now that Rock had this beautiful doctor, Emily, staying with them until the baby was born, Melissa knew she was somehow in trouble and needed to keep on Rock’s good side. It was obvious to Ronnie that Rock was sleeping with Emily and if he wasn’t before, he was going to start soon en
Jonathan was at his office when he received a text message from Arina telling him that he needs to come home as soon as he can. Before he was able to leave, Chief Miller showed up at his office door.He was breathless like he had just run from the Grey Howler Police Station to Jonathan’s office. He looked to be in a panic.“We have a problem,” he began.Jonathan sat back down at his desk chair.“Go on,” Jonathan urged.“There’s been word that Blackcrest and a few other packs are planning on an attack during the red moon,” Chief Miller told him.The red moon was only a month away; typically, that was when werewolves were at their strongest point if they were fully developed and strong enough as is. if they weren’t strong enough and not fully developed, the red moon would only make them weak and dissociated. The red moon takes the powers from the weak and temporarily gives them to the strong. Usually, there would be a huge ceremony; it was a once-a-year occasion. It would also be a good
Jess sat in the very bed she had once sat in with her husband Regan. He was the former Alpha of Sabrebite with whom she fell in love at the young age of 18. At the time of their meeting, she was living with her mother in Ironclaw. Jess and Regan have met briefly before they fell in love; Regan’s father was good friends with Gannon, the Alpha of Ironclaw. Aka, the only father Jess ever really knew. So, periodically Regan and his family would visit Ironclaw, and he’d have a run-in with Jess. Initially, Jess thought of him to be a conceited man. He was good-looking with his chestnut brown hair and his golden-brown eyes. He was strongly built like his father, and regardless of the territory he was in, women would fall at his feet. The problem was, not only was he good-looking, but he knew he was good-looking. He knew the effect he had on women, and he fed off that. To Jess, it seemed as though he was a flirt. However, that was before she got to know him.She soon realized that he was just
Erick hasn’t spoken to Ronnie in days, and he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her. Not since the day, he caught Elijah hunting on Ironclaw territory. Erick knew he shouldn’t have been in Ironclaw watching Ronnie, but he couldn’t help it. He was worried about her; she wouldn’t talk to him, and he didn’t want her going about without protection. He was only planning on watching her for a little while; he didn’t want to stalk her or make her feel uncomfortable. He knew she didn’t have an actual adult role model in her life to help her with her werewolf training, and he just wanted to make sure she was okay. She seemed fine for a little while and he was going to leave until he smelled an unfamiliar scent. It didn’t come from any surrounding packs, and it certainly didn’t come from Ronnie. It didn’t take him long to figure out the scent. He realized he did in fact smell it at one point and the memory brought a surge of anger through his bones.Elijah. One of Graham’s top werewolves
The house was quiet when Ronnie returned home; she wasn’t sure if anyone was even there. She was thankful Melissa and Rock were no longer fighting as sometimes they fight into the night, and it escalates the more Rock drinks. As she walked past the bedroom doorways, she could hear the light giggles of Emily in the guest bedroom along with the soft moans of Rock. It made Ronnie cringe hearing them so close to her bedroom. She knew Rock was going to sleep with Emily; she was a beautiful woman and Rock has never passed the opportunity to get with beautiful women. As she reached her bedroom and sat on her bed, the words of Jess ran through her mind for the hundredth time that night. She knew that the others didn’t feel the same way, but she also knew that Jess had every right to be concerned. She didn’t know Ronnie that well and a week ago she was sure that Arina was probably saying the same things. The way everyone was staring at her though like she was some freak that was about to explod
When Erick got the call from Jonathan asking if he could go and stay in Sabrebite for a few days, Erick had to admit he was skeptical. He hadn’t spoken or seen Ronnie in the last few days since the group meeting when Jess verbally attacked her. He doesn’t know Jess that well, but even he knew it was out of character.Ronnie looked utterly horrified and so broken; he felt helpless. He wanted to stand up for her and tell Jess off, but he wasn’t sure if that was something Ronnie would have wanted him to do. He didn’t want to overstep if it was something she wanted to deal with on her own. They hadn’t established how they were going to go about their relationship. Ronnie was only 16 years old and it’s clear she wasn’t exactly ready for a mate yet, but Erick couldn’t help the way he felt about her. His urge to protect her was strong, despite him staying quiet. He knew that he should have gone after her that night, but by the time he walked outside, she was long gone. He could smell her wolf
She knew it was a stupid plan, but she couldn’t stop herself. She was sick of everyone looking at her like she was some ticking time bomb and after what Jess said, it was clear there were still trust issues. Despite what Arina says, Ronnie wasn’t sure if Arina actually trusted her or not.She wanted to figure out a way to gain their trust once and for all. She also couldn’t get Elijah out of her mind since their encounter not long ago. She was terrified of him; he had a look in his eyes that revealed such darkness and such hatred. It could have been her that died instead of the deputy. There was no doubt in her mind that it was Elijah that killed that wolf. If Erick hadn’t had been there that day to save her, she would have been good as dead. She hated the fact that an outsider was smart enough to break the barriers and protection of both Sabrebite and Ironclaw. Elijah has taken enough from their packs and Ronnie didn’t want to just sit around and do nothing while he continued to take
