Derek stared at me. “What?” His mouth dropped open.

“Bri is opening the portal soon," I added. Then I climbed out of bed and began searching for my clothes while Derek watched me for a moment.

“Ethan, slow down," he said.

“We don't have time," I said in a hurry.

“For what?” he asked again.

“For any of this," I answered quickly without any proper thought. I pulled on my shirt and turned toward him. “We're going home, Derek. We're going home.”

From nowhere, Lucas burst into cold, mocking, and cruel laughter.“You have no place standing here and speaking to this pack,” he said. “You betrayed them, Ethan. You betrayed your father. You betrayed your blood. You betrayed this pack.”I kept my eyes on him as he spoke.“You mated with a human male,” he continued. “What an abomination.”Derek's body stiffened beside me as Lucas pointed at him.“And to make it worse, you chose an Ashbound out of every other mortal.”The pack murmured again.I looked at Lucas for a long moment, and then I smiled.“If I had heard those words ten years ago,” I said calmly, “they would have hurt me.”His smile faded slightly.“I was young back then. I thought everything was my fault. I thought I had failed everyone. I thought losing my wolf meant I had lost the right to be proud of who I was. I was only being a child and taking things more personally than I should have... so maybe, hearing these words then would've had me in my shell of guilt and regret

The iron gate ripped free from its hinges and went flying across the entrance, and the warriors were thrown backward with it. Dust erupted into the air.Derek's mouth fell open, and I stared at Bri.She brushed an invisible speck of dust from her shoulder. “What?” She shrugged.I laughed. “You're insane, Bri.”“Thank you.”We walked through the destroyed entrance, and immediately Derek came beside me.“I think that was the opposite of peaceful," he said.“I think she made her position clear," I smirked.Bri glanced back. “They heard me.”We continued deeper into Midnight Sun territory. The pack had changed in all these years. The buildings were different. Some of the paths had been widened, and new structures had been added, but the scent was the same.It was a home that no longer belonged to me, and as we approached the central grounds, wolves began emerging from every direction. One by one, then dozens. They all stared.Whispers spread through the crowd.“What happened?”“Who are th

We're going home.”Saying those words felt strange as they left my mouth. After ten years, Silverwood had become something I remembered more than something I knew. It was the place where my father had died, the place where Lucas had betrayed me. Where I had lost my wolf, and where I had become an outcast. It was also the place where Derek and I had started everything, and now we were going back.Derek stood slowly. “So then, you're serious. Ravenna thinks it's time for us to leave?”“Exactly.”He walked toward me. “But why now?”“I don't know what to tell you, reall

A rumble came from Derek's chest, and he moved. He pulled himself into my arms before his mouth came down and claimed mine for a kiss. The embrace was tight, and I could feel a huge ridge dig into my stomach, and I knew it was Derek's hard cock.He was sporting a raging erection for me. Derek held me almost painfully tight, yet my lips didn't hurt. He ground down on me as he pressed his tongue inside as Zana got her first taste of me. Our tongues dueled in the hot, warm recesses of my mouth before Derek retreated, nibbling on my now swollen lips.Zana needed more, so my hands came up to my mate's wide shoulders, and I held on tight to his body. I thrust my tongue forward and delved into his mouth, pointed tip rubbing and tracing the sharp teeth. I was the first to pull away, but Zana was too lost in the sensations. Derek's hip stilled. He didn't open his eyes and rested his forehead on my chest. My hand came up and brushed over Derek's hair. Then Derek came down from me and stepped ba

I could tell something was wrong the moment I entered the library. Bri and Ravenna were standing near the massive table in the center of the room, speaking in hushed voices. Whatever they had been discussing stopped the instant they saw me, and both of them sighed in relief.I frowned as I walked closer. “Why did you send for me so urgently?” I asked.Bri placed one hand on her hip while Ravenna rose from her chair.“You all are going back to Silverwood,” Ravenna said.I stared at her. “What?”“You, Derek, and Bri. You're leaving immediately.”I looked between them. “And why so urgently?”Ravenna walked toward me, her expression unusually serious. “Because your time here is over, Ethan. You've spent ten years preparing. The disruption in Silverwood has gone on long enough.”A smile slowly pulled at the corner of my mouth, as for ten years, I had imagined standing in front of the pack again, for ten years, I had wondered what I would feel when I finally saw the person who had once been

We did try to see if my wolf had indeed returned. It did, but it wasn't the wolf I remembered, the one that had once felt like another half of my soul, the one I had grown up with, the one that had answered my instincts and made me feel connected to the Moon Spirit and every wolf in my bloodline. This one was different. It was dark, and terrifyingly powerful. At first, I thought I was imagining it.I remember standing in Ravenna's backyard with Derek, Bri, and Ravenna surrounding me. My heart had been pounding as I closed my eyes and reached inward, searching for that familiar presence. Something else responded, but the moment it did, cold rushed through my entire body.My bones shifted, my skin burned, and I transformed. Only this time, I wasn't in control. I also remember hearing Derek scream my name, then everything went black. When I opened my eyes again, I was lying several yards away, the grass torn beneath me. Derek was on the ground too, except he wasn't completely human anymo
