Carlos’s POV

I stormed towards Lumian's office, my heart pounding with rage.

I didn’t care that Arthur and my parents were supposed to be there first. Didn’t care that there was supposed to be some calm, planned conversation. I was done with calm. Done with waiting.

My footsteps like thunder crashing through the silence of the pack house. Every guard I passed stepped back. They could see it in my eyes, this wasn’t just a warrior walking. This was grief, rage, and betrayal wrapped in skin.

I shoved the office door open so hard it slammed against the wall.

Lumian was at his desk, pretending like the world wasn’t on fire around him. He didn’t even flinch.

“Carlos,” he said flatly, barely looking up. “You should knock.”

“Did you sleep with her?” I roared, not bothering to hide the snarl in my throat.

His head jerked up.

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me. Did. You. Sleep. With. Judy.”

The silence was sharp. Tense. His eyes narrowed.

“I’m your Alpha,” he said coldly. “Watch your tone.”

Lumian’s POVThe pen sat in front of me. All I had to do was pick it up.But my hand wouldn’t move. The room was silent. No one dared speak, but I could feel them—Arthur’s fury like a storm behind his eyes, Carlos practically vibrating with restrained violence, her mother’s quiet tears, her father’s rigid stance by the window. And the papers. They were just paper. But they might as well have been fire.I stared at her name. Not as Luna. Not as my mate. Just as Liz. A name I once thought would be carved into my future.A laugh quiet, broken echoed in my chest.I remembered the first time she said my name.Soft. Careful. Like she didn’t know if she was allowed to speak it.We’d been walking near the river, her hand brushing mine, and I had turned just in time to catch the pink blooming in her cheeks.“Lumian,” she said. “Do you ever wonder if this is really real?”I’d smiled. Told her it was more than real. She’d looked at me like I’d hung the moon.I’d loved that look. But somewhere a

Arthur’s POVThe room reeked of blood and ego.I stood between the two of them—one panting with rage, the other bleeding pride from his mouth. Lumian clutched his ribs. Carlos stood seething, his fists clenched at his sides, blood dripping from his lip.And I? I was done being patient.“I warned you both,” I said, voice low and final. “You want to fight? Fine. But not like this. Not in the same room where we speak her name.”The words landed like a blow. The silence was instant.I turned to Carlos first. “This isn’t how we honour her.”Carlos didn’t speak, didn’t move—but I could see it in the tightness of his jaw. He knew I was right. Then I turned to Lumian.“You ignored her cries for help,” I said coldly. “And now you are ignoring her final wish.”Lumian’s shoulders tensed. His gaze dropped to the floor, then shifted to the letter I now held in my hand.“She was our daughter,” a voice said from behind me. I turned.Liz’s father had stepped forward, his expression carved from grief

Liz’s POVI hadn’t moved from Arthur’s bed since I’d slipped beneath the covers.Time didn’t seem to exist in this place anymore. Minutes bled into hours. The light from the window shifted along the floor, but I didn’t track it. Didn’t follow it.I couldn’t.I didn’t feel angry. Or sad. Or anything I could name. Just… empty. A hollow ache in my chest that throbbed without sound. Then I felt it—Arthur. His presence was a pulse in the air. Not heavy, not loud, but steady. Like he was made of something more than flesh and bone.He stepped into the room quietly.I didn’t turn. Didn’t speak. But he came anyway. The bed dipped gently behind me as he sat, his warmth seeping through the blankets even if I couldn’t feel it properly. He didn’t ask me how I was. Maybe he didn’t need to.“I went to your family,” he said softly. My breath caught.“They saw the letter. They know the truth now.”I closed my eyes. For a second, it felt like hope flickered inside me—but I didn’t dare reach for it.“C

Carlos’s POVI couldn’t breathe in that house anymore. Not with the weight of Liz’s letter still sitting in the centre of the table like a blade cutting through everything we thought we knew about her. Not with the silence of my parents echoing in my ears. And definitely not with the guilt crawling like fire under my skin.I was supposed to protect her. Instead, I let her fade behind the title of Luna and never once looked close enough to see the cracks. And now... now I knew why.Arthur’s words wouldn’t stop ringing in my head. She cried out for him. And Lumian ignored her.He ignored her.The rage had started as a flicker in my chest, but now it burned through my veins, scorching everything in its path.I didn’t care where I was going. I just knew I had to find her.Judy.The girl I thought I knew. The girl I had trusted with everything, even the parts of me I didn’t show anyone. I’d stood by her. Defended her. Loved her.Gods, I loved her.And now? That love felt like a sickness.

Arthur’s POVI didn’t know how to start. How do you walk into a home filled with grief and hand a family the truth that might shatter everything they believed about the daughter they’d just lost? You don’t.You walk in, and you brace yourself and pray that they will understand.Carlos opened the door. His body stiffened the second he saw me. He dropped his gaze instantly, bowing low out of habit and obligation. “Alpha King.”He thought I was here for him. Thought I’d come to punish him for what he’d done to Robert.“May I come in?” I asked. He stepped aside quickly, without a word.I walked through the house, the silence pressing in thick. I didn't tell Liz that I was coming here, I didn't even know if she would have wanted to come, but I knew that I needed to protect her here if this went wrong. I couldn't even bear to think of what it would do to her. She’d been hurt enough. If they refused, if they told me no, I didn’t want her to see that. Not again.Carlos led me into the sittin
