Ch 1
Olivia’s PoV I took out the oven mitts after I placed Damian’s favorite pie on the table to cool off. He should be coming home soon. I checked my phone for the hundredth time in case he sent me a text, but nothing since this morning. My wolf Vanilla whimpered in the back of my mind. She is as worried as I am about him. Since the dead of Levi his older brother he has become almost a shell of himself. During a serious rogue attack, Levi threw himself between a rogue and Damian to protect him resulting in Levi’s death. Vivian, his widow. And Damian… broke down. Damian continues his alpha duties, but at night he spends restless hours, consumed with guilt, shaking in my arms as tears soak my clothes, breaking my heart piece by piece. I stood up quickly as I heard a car pull outside the house. ‘It’s him,’ said Vanilla already feeling his presence. I catch my reflection in the small wall mirror. The necklace Damian had given to me sparked. Damian said the necklace was for our missed anniversary. This was the perfect opportunity to wear it. I’ve prepared his favorite dishes, and a pie, all arranged neatly across the table. I wanted to lift his spirits after another long day at the hospital with Vivian. The broken mate-bond tortured Vivian for days. She suffered more than anyone could withstand. I just hoped she would get better soon. “Damian, honey you’re back...!” I said with a big smile. He just stood there looking at me as if assessing me. His aura was cold, detached, it made vanilla uneasy. “What happened? Is Vivian, ok?” I asked. At the mention of his sister-in-law, he walked towards me. “Vivian tried to kill herself,” His tone was full of pain. “She’s dying, Olivia. And she’s pregnant. My brother’s only heir is battling between life and death…” “Goddess!!” I gasped. I felt pity for both Vivian and Damian. Levi was also a good brother to me. Everyone grieved him, but we all knew it was especially hard for Vivian, because the death of a fated mate is devastating for every werewolf. She tried to kill herself, perhaps not knowing she was pregnant. My heart ached for her. “What can we do to help her?” I really wish I could do something for her. Although Vivian and I never got along well, I thought I should try my best to support her. We married the brothers, that makes us family. “You are the only person who can help her.” His tone was strange; something was not right. My chest tightened. Why am I the only person who can help her? I felt confused. “Olivia, you need to share your life with Vivian.” He spat it out. I felt more confused and couldn’t understand what he meant. I tried looking at his eyes. He must be joking. “Damian?” “Conventional medicine won’t help Vivian. But there’s hope. They suggested to bind her life to another, a stronger she wolf with Witchcraft.” He said reaching for my hand with eyes full of hope. I pulled back. "Witchcraft Damian? You know anything involving life and witchcraft is extremely evil. We werewolves know better than anyone that we should be wary of witches." He reached for my hand again, grabbing it this time, sending a chill through my bones. This could not be happening. My own mate could not be contemplating this idea. "Olivia, I promised my brother to take care of her and now it is not only Vivian but Levi's child. I owe it to him.” His endless guilt and self blame is willing to sacrifice his own mate. I stared at him in disbelief, my chest aching with every shallow breath. "Why must it be me?” I searched in his eyes, for a hint of hesitation, for the love I once felt from him. There was none. I couldn’t stop trembling. The betrayal, the desperation, the love and the rage. Everything was a storm inside me. Vanilla was howling. "Damian, this is cruel and unfair. I refuse!" Damian let go of me abruptly, he spun around angrily, a hand going through his hair. Then he pinned me with his hard cold gaze. “Olivia, this spell won’t last forever! Once Vivian gives birth, the spell will be lifted and it’s only you as the strongest she-wolf in the pack that can endure this. I thought of all people you would understand my decision!” He was annoyed, almost desperate. “Damian I can’t.” My voice cracked. “I don’t mean to be cruel to Vivian and her baby, but…” perhaps is time to reveal my identity. I’m the daughter of the alpha king. I had escaped a political marriage three years ago with the help of my brother. But if I go back, perhaps they can find the best doctors and… “Damian I…” “You will not deprive her of the chance to live!” He roared with his wolf Nyx’s voice. My body trembled. He had never used alpha command on me. Vanilla was angry. ‘Let me out, Olivia. Let me show what a true alpha she wolf can do.’ She hissed. ‘Vanilla, he’s, our mate.’ Damian noticed me shaking and he softened. “Olivia, I’m sorry… I lost control.” He held me tight and I melted on his embrace. Relief washing over me. I knew he wouldn’t do that to me. Together we will find a solution. But then—snap. I felt his hands touch the necklace around my neck, and a searing magic fire erupted around my body. Every bone in my body felt as if it was shattered. “Damian, it hurts too much!” I howled inhumanely and fell to my knees. Damian hugged my shaky body tightly. Strangely, the fire didn’t burn him, meanwhile my body seared inside me. It was no normal fire, simply burning people to ash. The surface of my body was not harmed, but it was indeed causing me pain and killing me agonizingly slowly. “I’m sorry Olivia.” He said with trembling voice, but resolute. “I’ll lift the spell once Vivian gives birth I promise.” “What have you done to me?!” My screams ripped from my throat as I writhed in agony. Its dark magic was destroying my wolf from the inside. “No, no!! Vanilla bellowed in pain. ‘Olivia, help!’ I could see in my head, her beautiful grey silver fur turning dark, and her claws quickly couldn’t support her anymore. She was bleeding. A guttural howl escaped me; my eyes widened with despair. ‘Vanilla, Vanilla!!’ I reached desperately for her. I couldn’t feel her anymore. “Goddess please save my wolf.” I sobbed. Damian looked at me feeling justified. “You’re strong Olivia. You will be fine. I will make it up to you once this is over.” Tears blurred my face as the pain tore through my heart. Then everything went dark.Olivia’s PoV Vivian was almost hyperventilating when she planted herself between the Delta warrior and Ashley, who looked at Vivian weakly. Damian growled, angrily. “Stay away from this Vivian! This doesn’t concern you. Derek, take my brother’s wife back to her place.” Damian ordered the other Delta warrior as he waved Vivian dismissively, but Vivian was not one to back down easily. She approached Damian with a pleading look. “Damian, whatever she did, forgive her please. Do it for me. She has been very helpful to me during this time.” She gave Damian a meaningful look as she rubbed her slightly grown stomach. Damian seemed to realize something and ordered the Delta to stop. “Take that eye sore to the pack’s hospital.” He growled not even bothering to look at the broken Ashley. I let out a breath of relief when the Delta carried her out of the dungeons. Thankfully Vivian arrived on time. I can’t believe I’m thankful that my husband’s ex-girlfriend managed to stop the punishm
Olivia’s PoV Damian’s face turned cold as he gave Ashley a menacing glare. Ashley stood there acting like a pathetic weakling. She was such a good actress; if I hadn’t seen her true colors before, I would have pitied her. “Your Luna asked you a question, woman. Answer her!!” Damian ordered her. He stood there radiating Alpha dominance. Ashley immediately cowered. I truly believe she fears him somehow. She looked at me but quickly lowered her head, as she spoke in a humble tone. “Luna… I was tidying up the sofa earlier and one must have fallen on accident. It won’t happen again.” She stammered and looked at me once again to see if I believed her lies. “Is this what you call tidying up?” I scoffed as I pulled a pair of purple panties from behind the cushion holding it up with a pen and dropping them on the floor quickly, feeling my guts revolt. It was when I came back downstairs again that I found the offending garment sticking out from under the couch. They did it here, in m
. Damian's PoV Contrary to my better judgment, when Olivia asked me to bring Ashley with me, I didn’t hesitate. I’ve been driving myself up the walls unable to touch Olivia. I need to quench my desires somehow and she handed me the best opportunity. Ashley was straddling me on the floor, when I remembered to check the time. “Fuck!” I looked at my watch pushing Ashley away. It’s almost six, Olivia must be on her way by now. “Alpha, what happened?” A startled Ashley asked as she picked her clothes from the floor. “Why didn’t you remind me of the time?” I said icily. “I… I lost track of time too.” She said meekly as she blushed. I did not miss the small smug look on her face, even if it was fleeting. I gave her a cold glare. “Don’t ever think this is more than a convenient fuck, witch. You’re easy and available as well as good at what you do. Once my Luna recovers from the curse, you will go back to getting scraps.” She nodded, lowering her head. “Yes, Alpha.” She
Olivia’s PoV It didn’t take long for Damian to leave. This gathering is not his usual idea of fun. I was sitting alone as Katherine and Mrs. Agatha were still bringing out food from the kitchen. “Olivia, I have something important to deal with. It’s time to go back.” My eyes snapped onto him. I didn’t want to leave so soon. “Damian, I want to stay a little longer. Let Katherine drive me back home.” I asked gently. “And take Ashley with you. I don’t need her.” Damian turned to look at Ashley who was standing expectantly not far from him. She had been looking uneasy after the dog incident. Damian’s eyes lingered a little too long on Ashley and to my surprise, he agreed to both things. “Fine, Katherine can drive you back. Don’t stay for long.” Damian said as he kissed my hand. “I will be home by six. Thank you, Damian.” He nodded and turned to leave. Ashley walked hurriedly behind him looking nervously at her surroundings. She walked fast until she was very close to Damian.
Olivia’s PoV Three days later. These past few days. Everything has been fine. I have been resting at home, and I’m glad that, aside from feeling weak, I haven't experienced any pain. At least not physical, but every time I remember Vanilla, the void in my chest still suffocates me. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to her absence. Damian has been hovering over me like a mother hen. He got scared from the last time I got admitted to the hospital. He knows that if something happens to me, it would be the end of Vivian’s pup. I put a protective hand on my stomach. My own pup is at risk, too, and he is my only priority. I don’t wish anything bad for Vivian’s child, but why is he more important to Damian than his own child? Damian entered then with a plate of fruit. I was sitting on the balcony soaking in the sun rays. Watching the pack members going on about their lives like any other Tuesday. Whereas I lived in constant worry that Damian would discover I was pregnant and make m
Ashley's PoV I slipped out of Damian’s office like a shadow. I learned to become one when I was a slave in the black market. I had been whipped countless times just for simply existing, so I always tried to blend in, to become a shadow until it was engraved in my bones. Anything but being whipped, I hated it. My body shivered just thinking about it. I had resigned to that miserable life, where pain and hunger were my daily constant. Until he came. My Damian, my savior. When he bought me, he gave me a place to stay, and he made me feel needed and cared for. He made me feel alive again. He says my whole purpose is to serve him but it’s not a job when I love doing that for him. The only obstacle to my complete happiness is Olivia. I had stepped on their wedding portrait on my way out, the one Damian threw earlier in a fit of rage, and it shattered. I giggled. I hate how Damian always defends that woman. He always belittles me for her. The sooner she gets out of the picture the
