Olivia’s PoV.

I walked through the darkness for what felt like an eternity, searching for my wolf.

“Vanilla, come back.’ I sobbed.

Please answer me, I can't lose you. The pain in my body was excruciating, but the pain in my heart was unbearable. My other half was gone. Torn from me in the cruelest of ways.

I kept calling her, but no answer ever came. The flames that had consumed me had taken her.

My dear Vanilla was gone.

My mate killed my wolf with his own hands to use my life as a life bank for another woman.

I opened my eyes and found Damian holding my hand, next to my bed. “Olivia you’re awake! Thank the Moon Goddess!” His eyes widened with fake relief and concern.

I immediately tried to pull my hand, but I was so weak I couldn’t even move it.

Was I paralyzed? My chest rose and fell rapidly, the look of horror on my face must have alerted Damian.

“Shh, calm down, Olivia.” He squeezed my hand and kept stroking my shoulders, trying to sooth me.

It didn't work for me. I frowned in pain. I just wanted to know what was wrong with my body. I felt strange.

“You’ll be weak for a while,” he said softly, “but soon you’ll be back to normal.”

I could sense that he was lying.

“I can’t feel vanilla anymore.” I said weakly. “My wolf is gone.” I said with a pained whisper.

“Don’t worry, Olivia. I will always protect you. Nobody will harm you with me by your side.”

He spoke as if losing my wolf was something trivial. For werewolves, losing our wolves was like losing our souls, our spiritual pillars. Even the strongest of werewolves would crumble at the loss of their wolf.

I was already feeling it. I felt weak, old, as if I had aged a hundred years. Something terrible was happening to me. If only Vanilla was still with me, my bottom lip trembled, thinking of her. Damian stroked my hair softly, but I sensed no guilt in him. He felt righteous, justified.

“Alpha, Vivian is awake!” Katherine, Damian’s Beta, appeared at the door.

Damian’s semblance changed. A sheet of happiness washed over his face. Relief shining in his smile, a smile I hadn’t seen in weeks.

“Olivia, your sacrifice was worth it,” he said, already moving toward Vivian’s room. “Both mother and child live.

We will forever be grateful to you! I need to check on Vivian first, be good.”

His steps quickened as he exited the room. Then he was gone. Leaving me broken. Wolf-less. Soul-less… mateless.

“Rest, Olivia. I’ll comeback after I see Vivian!” He shouted from the hallway.

Katherine lingered by the door. Her look of pity was unbearable. She approached me, trying to sound soothing.

Katherine was the first female beta in the history of Red River Pack. She was also my first friend here. She was strong, independent and loyal. If anyone would be able to understand my pain, it was her.

“I am so sorry, Luna, I can’t stop Alpha from doing this to you.” She stood by the bed. Guilt spread on her face.

I tried several times to say something, and then I realized I only wanted to know one answer. Goddess, I really hope she was not part of this since the beginning.

"Did you know this before Damian tried to cast this curse on me?"

“No. I swear I did not know.” Katherine said quickly, “Alpha ordered me and several other insiders to keep that secret after you were rushed to the hospital.”

A sense of relief washed over me.

She didn't betray me.

You might think that I was too easy to believe another person after experiencing the cruel betrayal of my mate.

But I could feel that Katherine told me the truth, which was a kind of skill that I had learned when I grew up in the royal palace. I know how to recognize your true friends and enemies and how to unite your friends to deal with your enemies. Only my blind love for Damian made me judge his character completely wrong. But how could I have ever imagined that the person who’s supposed to love and cherish me the most could be the one to betray me?

“I believe you,” I said revealing a weak smile.

She blinked to prevent tears from falling. I wanted to raise my hand to wipe out her tears, but I was too weak to do that. Katherine saw through my intention and put her palm on my hand. I could feel her trembling emotions.

“You need to have a rest and take care of yourself.” She said this with a serious tone, and then she pressed her lips and looked towards the door, lowering her voice, hesitation flickering in her gaze until she finally whispered.

“Levi’s death truly affected Alpha Damian… he has not been the same since then. It broke him. He even announced to the pack’s council that Luna Vivian’s child will be the heir of the Red River Pack.”

Just when I thought that he couldn’t stoop any lower. My heart lurched and I felt it slam in my body like a physical blow.

“Vivian’s son? His heir? But what about...?”

With weak trembling hands I pressed them against my stomach. I felt it flutter. What if life was already growing inside? For weeks I had been feeling odd. Vomiting early mornings. Always feeling nauseous. The changes in my body, fatigue, sleepiness, nausea, vomiting. I had gone to the pack’s clinic for tests and was still waiting for the results. I did not wait for them, wanting to be home when Damian came back.

Terror crept on my chest. What if this witchcraft not only killed my wolf, but my unborn child. I couldn’t breathe… what if I’m pregnant or was?

I couldn’t move and couldn’t scream. I cried silently. The necklace stung on my neck reminding me of the chains that bound me.

"Goddess, not my baby.”

“Please Luna, rest. We will think of something.” I heard Katherine retreat as I curled into a ball cradling my stomach. Damian has already condemned us, and my world has shattered once more.

Olivia’s PoV Vivian was almost hyperventilating when she planted herself between the Delta warrior and Ashley, who looked at Vivian weakly. Damian growled, angrily. “Stay away from this Vivian! This doesn’t concern you. Derek, take my brother’s wife back to her place.” Damian ordered the other Delta warrior as he waved Vivian dismissively, but Vivian was not one to back down easily. She approached Damian with a pleading look. “Damian, whatever she did, forgive her please. Do it for me. She has been very helpful to me during this time.” She gave Damian a meaningful look as she rubbed her slightly grown stomach. Damian seemed to realize something and ordered the Delta to stop. “Take that eye sore to the pack’s hospital.” He growled not even bothering to look at the broken Ashley. I let out a breath of relief when the Delta carried her out of the dungeons. Thankfully Vivian arrived on time. I can’t believe I’m thankful that my husband’s ex-girlfriend managed to stop the punishm

Olivia’s PoV Damian’s face turned cold as he gave Ashley a menacing glare. Ashley stood there acting like a pathetic weakling. She was such a good actress; if I hadn’t seen her true colors before, I would have pitied her. “Your Luna asked you a question, woman. Answer her!!” Damian ordered her. He stood there radiating Alpha dominance. Ashley immediately cowered. I truly believe she fears him somehow. She looked at me but quickly lowered her head, as she spoke in a humble tone. “Luna… I was tidying up the sofa earlier and one must have fallen on accident. It won’t happen again.” She stammered and looked at me once again to see if I believed her lies. “Is this what you call tidying up?” I scoffed as I pulled a pair of purple panties from behind the cushion holding it up with a pen and dropping them on the floor quickly, feeling my guts revolt. It was when I came back downstairs again that I found the offending garment sticking out from under the couch. They did it here, in m

. Damian's PoV Contrary to my better judgment, when Olivia asked me to bring Ashley with me, I didn’t hesitate. I’ve been driving myself up the walls unable to touch Olivia. I need to quench my desires somehow and she handed me the best opportunity. Ashley was straddling me on the floor, when I remembered to check the time. “Fuck!” I looked at my watch pushing Ashley away. It’s almost six, Olivia must be on her way by now. “Alpha, what happened?” A startled Ashley asked as she picked her clothes from the floor. “Why didn’t you remind me of the time?” I said icily. “I… I lost track of time too.” She said meekly as she blushed. I did not miss the small smug look on her face, even if it was fleeting. I gave her a cold glare. “Don’t ever think this is more than a convenient fuck, witch. You’re easy and available as well as good at what you do. Once my Luna recovers from the curse, you will go back to getting scraps.” She nodded, lowering her head. “Yes, Alpha.” She

Olivia’s PoV It didn’t take long for Damian to leave. This gathering is not his usual idea of fun. I was sitting alone as Katherine and Mrs. Agatha were still bringing out food from the kitchen. “Olivia, I have something important to deal with. It’s time to go back.” My eyes snapped onto him. I didn’t want to leave so soon. “Damian, I want to stay a little longer. Let Katherine drive me back home.” I asked gently. “And take Ashley with you. I don’t need her.” Damian turned to look at Ashley who was standing expectantly not far from him. She had been looking uneasy after the dog incident. Damian’s eyes lingered a little too long on Ashley and to my surprise, he agreed to both things. “Fine, Katherine can drive you back. Don’t stay for long.” Damian said as he kissed my hand. “I will be home by six. Thank you, Damian.” He nodded and turned to leave. Ashley walked hurriedly behind him looking nervously at her surroundings. She walked fast until she was very close to Damian.

Olivia’s PoV Three days later. These past few days. Everything has been fine. I have been resting at home, and I’m glad that, aside from feeling weak, I haven't experienced any pain. At least not physical, but every time I remember Vanilla, the void in my chest still suffocates me. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to her absence. Damian has been hovering over me like a mother hen. He got scared from the last time I got admitted to the hospital. He knows that if something happens to me, it would be the end of Vivian’s pup. I put a protective hand on my stomach. My own pup is at risk, too, and he is my only priority. I don’t wish anything bad for Vivian’s child, but why is he more important to Damian than his own child? Damian entered then with a plate of fruit. I was sitting on the balcony soaking in the sun rays. Watching the pack members going on about their lives like any other Tuesday. Whereas I lived in constant worry that Damian would discover I was pregnant and make m

Ashley's PoV I slipped out of Damian’s office like a shadow. I learned to become one when I was a slave in the black market. I had been whipped countless times just for simply existing, so I always tried to blend in, to become a shadow until it was engraved in my bones. Anything but being whipped, I hated it. My body shivered just thinking about it. I had resigned to that miserable life, where pain and hunger were my daily constant. Until he came. My Damian, my savior. When he bought me, he gave me a place to stay, and he made me feel needed and cared for. He made me feel alive again. He says my whole purpose is to serve him but it’s not a job when I love doing that for him. The only obstacle to my complete happiness is Olivia. I had stepped on their wedding portrait on my way out, the one Damian threw earlier in a fit of rage, and it shattered. I giggled. I hate how Damian always defends that woman. He always belittles me for her. The sooner she gets out of the picture the
