Chapter 24: Don't Go

Author: Stella YX
(Grace's POV)

"Don’t go."

The rough tone of Alexander's voice froze me like an icy wind. I turned, unable to stop myself from glancing over my shoulder.

His golden eyes burned, focused entirely on me, piercing through the tension-filled room.

He sat on the edge of the bed, his elbows on his knees, his face unreadable but his wolf lurking just beneath the surface.

"I need to rest," I said firmly, trying to inject finality into my tone. My fingers gripped the edge of the bedroom door tightly, my knuckles white. I wasn't staying. Not tonight.

His eyes narrowed, his wolf stirring visibly. "Your scent..." he murmured, almost to himself.

His nostrils flared as he inhaled deeply, visibly focused on me in a way that made my skin crawl. "It’s different now. Stronger..."

I stiffened and mentally fought back the panic threatening to rise. "It’s the healing herbs," I lied quickly, my voice sharp and cold. "I’ve been experimenting with new blends to help with my wolf’s dormancy." I kept my arms fol

(Grace's POV)The quiet hum of the silver-lined elevator echoed off its pristine walls as we ascended. The confined space only heightened the tension that hung between us, thick and heavy.I stood against one corner, my ceremonial healer robes brushing softly against the metallic floor, conscious of Alexander’s looming presence on the other side.He shifted, his golden eyes reflecting the dim light with unsettling sharpness. For once, he wasn’t casting judgment or disdain. Instead, his gaze seemed contemplative—or worse—conflicted.“I’ve been thinking,” he said suddenly, breaking the near suffocating silence.I bit back an urge to respond with sarcasm, settling for a flat, “About what?”“The mate-bond dissolution,” he started, his tone measured as if testing the waters of his next words. My fingers tightened instinctively around the strap of the healer satchel slung over my shoulder. I fought to keep my voice steady. “What about it?”He turned towards me, closing some of the space betw

(Grace's POV)The Moon’s Blessing Cafe was beautiful. The soothing hum of conversation, the faint rustling of oak leaves outside, the golden light reflecting off moon-blessed crystals—it was peace incarnate.I should’ve felt at ease. But there was no calm in me.Tina stood beside me, wide-eyed and smiling. She couldn’t seem to get enough of the place, her gaze darting over every detail.“This feels so magical,” she whispered like an awestruck pup, practically bouncing in place.I forced a small smile for her sake. “It is magical. The café’s built on sacred pack grounds. Everything here is blessed by the moon itself.”“I can feel it,” she said in awe, tracing her fingers over the carvings on a nearby table.I managed a nod, but my focus wandered. My eyes, unbidden, shifted to the corner of the café.And there they were.Alexander sat at his usual table. His commanding presence somehow pulled attention away from everyone else in the café. Even seated, he was larger than life. Wolves arou

(Grace's POV)The atmosphere in Alexander's office was unbearable, thick with tension and raw energy. His towering figure stood rigid near his desk, his golden eyes flashing dangerously between gold and red as his patience frayed. My chest tightened, but I forced myself to meet his glare. "Victoria has no right to be part of those rituals. They're sacred. They're reserved for mates. For true mates.""You don't know anything about those rituals," he growled. His voice was low, threatening, and his wolf stirred, daring me to challenge him further."How can you even say that?" I snapped, my voice trembling but growing louder with the weight of my hurt. "I'm supposed to be your mate, Alexander! Yet you let her stand where only I should be? You let her act like—""Enough," he interrupted, his tone sharp like the crack of a whip. He stepped forward, his towering presence suffocating the last of my courage."No, Alexander, you need to hear this." My hands balled into fists at my sides. The tr

Victoria stood at the entrance to my private den, her emerald eyes glinting like polished jade under the afternoon sunlight streaming through the tall windows. She was dressed impeccably, as always. Her fitted gown was designed to emphasize her delicate frame, and the subtle shimmer of moon-blessed fabric clung gracefully to her every movement.“Alpha Alex” she purred, bowing slightly with an overt softness that made every syllable hang in the air.The term, intimate and rarely spoken among wolves, immediately set me on edge. My eyes flicked toward the door to ensure no pack members were eavesdropping. Her use of it was calculated.“Enough with the titles,” I said sharply, aiming to dismantle the power she tried to wield with her words. My patience was thin today, stretched taut by the constant demands of the pack and the weight of unresolved issues gnawing at my focus.Victoria lifted her chin, her expression momentarily faltering before it morphed into a look of carefully crafted con

The growing intensity of his gaze sent my heart pounding, but I willed myself to remain calm.Lucas's voice broke through the tension, low and strained. “Ignore him,” he whispered at my side, his amber eyes darting toward Alexander. He shifted protectively closer to me, his omega instincts bristling in the presence of the dominating Alpha. “This isn’t his territory. He can’t do anything here.”But Lucas didn’t understand. Alexander didn’t need it to be his territory. Wherever h

The air between us crackled with tension, heavy and suffocating. His towering frame pressed closer, forcing me to take half a step back until the hard surface of the vehicle met my spine.“What’s your plan, Grace?” His voice was low, laced with frustration and barely suppressed anger. “Run off to neutral territory with Lucas every time you don’t get your way?”The accusation hit harder than I expected, but I kept my face calm. My heart raced, the pounding so loud I almost didn’t hear my own response.“Believe it or not, Alexander,” I said evenly, though my voice trembled just slightly, “my life doesn’t revolve around you and your assumptions.”His eyes flared, the golden-red hue pulsing brighter. His wolf was so close to the surface I could practically feel the primal energy rolling off him.“Doesn’t revolve around me?” His words were sharp, biting. “Then why do my actions affect you so much? (Alexander’s POV)The moment she stepped into the room, every fiber of my being tightened. Grace didn’t belong out there, surrounded by prying eyes and lurking predators. She belonged here, with me, in the space that still carried faint traces of her scent. Her formal attire was understated compared to the others in tonight’s auction, but it struck me like lightning. The flowing fabric hugged her frame in ways that made my wolf stir with a possessiveness I barely kept in check.“Alexander,” she started, her voice steady, but I could hear the exhaustion layered beneath it. The fire in her eyes hadn’t dimmed entirely, though it flickered faintly, much like the pulse of irritation skimming along the bond between us.I crossed my arms, leaning casually by the desk though my chest churned with agitation. “Six million,” I said flatly, narrowing my eyes. “Do you think spending through pack resources will go unnoticed?”Her chin lifted defiantly. “Do you think selling what isn’t yours to begin

Ryan Stone, Alpha of White Claw Territory.” His deep voice carried the distinct resonance of authority, but something about its warmth set him apart from the other Alphas I’d met.My eyes narrowed. White Claw Territory bordered ours; though not as large or as powerful as Crimson Moon, it had a reputation for elite warriors. My thoughts churned, refusing to settle. The crystals. My healing crystals. Each one carried a piece of me—my energy carefully infused over countless nights when I worked in secret. Crystals meant not merely to heal but to protect, to save. Alexander had taken them. Or more accurately, they’d been gathered under his orders in preparation for tonight’s artifact auction.I clenched my fists, a low pulse of anger burning through me. How could he be so careless? Did he even understand their true significance? My gaze lingered on the faint glow of the sky visible through the window. Tiny stars blinked back, indifferent to my growing distress. Somewhere out there, Alexander would be preparing for tonight’s event, likely without even a passin

His amber eyes sparkled with both concern and anticipation.“Alexander,” I started, my voice deceptively soft. “You want me to authorize a frivolous purchase? For Sophia? Using resources you granted me?”“Yes.” His answer was immediate, lacking hesitation. “Do it. Now.”It wasn’t a request. It was an order. My grip on the crystal tightened. Wolves from packs across the lands came together here, their lives interwoven for these brief moments beneath shared moonlight.Lucas walked beside me, his excitement practically radiating off his lean frame. His amber eyes darted between shop windows as he nudged me playfully.“Look there!” Lucas exclaimed, pointing ahead. His voice carried a teasing lilt. “That one—it’s calling you. The weight behind my words hung heavier than I intended. “I just need something appropriate for the auction. My breath hitched, and I stumbled, clutching the fabric of my robes. The rogue’s scent—still faintly clinging to me—practically screamed for exposure.No. This couldn’t happen. Not yet. I needed time to cleanse it. Time to cover my tracks.“Alpha,” I said in the softest, most desperate tone I could muster. My voice trembled with helplessness. “I—I wasn’t expecting…”“Expecting?” His voice dripped with ice.I turned slowly to face him, my heart pounding against my ribcage like it was trying to escape. (Alexander's POV)The Silver Moon Bar buzzed with muted conversations and the clinks of glasses. Yet, I heard none of it. My wolf paced wildly beneath the surface, restless and agitated. The moon-blessed wine in front of me offered no solace. It barely dulled the chaos in my mind.I sat at the corner table with Beta James and Alpha Ryan, a visiting pack leader whose sharp eyes missed nothing. He sipped his drink leisurely, as if he wasn’t weighing every crack in my façade.“Alpha,” James started cautiously. His voice carried the kind of edge that meant he was about to tread into unwelcome territory. “Have we done enough to investigate the rogue attack on Luna Grace? There’s something off about it.”My jaw tightened. Grace’s name twisted something inside me, something I couldn’t name. I gripped the glass harder than necessary.“It’s handled,” I said curtly. Yet, even as the words left my mouth, they felt hollow. Lies told more to soothe myself than anyone else.James frowned but didn’t

(Grace’s POV)The tension sat thick between us in the hospital wing. Alexander looked at me, his golden eyes unreadable as he leaned back in his chair. His presence, even without movement, suffocated the air in the room. The untouched soup sat on the table between us.“Are you going to tell me why you’re still upset?” His voice was low but sharp, each word cutting into me.“Upset?” I echoed, keeping my tone as even as I could, though my grip tightened on the table’s edge. “Upset doesn’t even begin to cover it, Alexander.”He raised a brow, tilting his head slightly. The motion, so effortless, made heat rise in my chest. “Do tell, Grace. I’d love to hear your reasoning behind this… mood.”There it was. That signature calm arrogance. The same tone he used when dismissing something, or someone, he didn’t take seriously. My nails dug into the wood beneath my palm.“This ‘mood,’ as you call it, has something to do with the rogues that tried to kill me two days ago. Or have you forgotten alr
