I take a deep breath, preparing myself for the conversation that is about to happen between me and Alpha Tobias. As discussed, I am here to see him before heading to the hospital and starting work for the day.

After taking a few deep breaths, I knock on the door.

“Loretta, come in,” he says, and I push the door open, venturing inside.

“Good morning, Father,” I say as I approach him. “Hope you had a good night's rest.”

“Yes, I did. And you?” He gestures at the seat next to him on the sofa where he is seated.

I settle in and cross my legs.

“My night was fine,” I tell him. Sighing, I continue. “You asked me to come.”

“Oh, yes.” He presses his lips together and puts on a serious face. “As we know, Loretta, I can’t be the Alpha forever. I am getting old and weak. Very soon, the pack would seek a replacement if I don’t have the strength to protect them anymore. I need you to step in very soon and rule like you were born to.”
