LOGIN"You're about to find out," I grumble to myself, moving slowly and purposefully. "Almost..." I trail off on a whisper, pausing right in front of him.
"Amelia—""Got you," I smirk, spraying around him from toe to head. Once isn't enough so I go in with another round while he squirms, trying to wave it away. "Hmm, that was a big one." I feign a gasp, watching him stagger. He coughs, choking on the chemicals and instead of running out the door, he moves further into the room.I go back to my bed and begin to doodle but that doesn't stop Ezra. Even choking he is calling out my name. And when he tries to start a conversation, I shut him down by putting on headphones. What begins as a small doodle turns into a drawing of him as a fly with the tag "I'm an idiot" I get a good laugh out of that, it's one of my best yet childish drawings.I look up for a moment to compare the art and the muse behind it and I find him there, leaning against my door frame and sweating. "Again, I shall punch you." I bark out, "You will apologise to her because you hurt her feelings when you weren't man enough to accept yours. You might have gone through some psychological shit, perhaps a psychotic episode, shutdown, or fit but the last three days were enough to come to your senses which you didn't. Apologise to her and make it good."This time, he doesn't argue, there's no comeback or argument, he merely sighs and nods. I can see things piecing together in his eyes one by one, "Where is she?""In her room, she has been painting all day today.""What?" He gasps, concern morphing onto his face.My eyebrows furrow, "Did you not know she paints?""I knew that, I just didn't know that's what she was doing." he swallows, all that anger from earlier now replaced with avid concern. "She's probably been at it for so long that she didn't eat.""Oh, so you now care?" I snicker."I..." "I know," I slap a hand on his shoulder, hard. He didn't mean a word he said to her, he could
"Baby," Cecily scolds."I'm sorry, I can't speak for him." Landon winces, "But you don’t disgust him that was a lie. I've seen the eyes you make at each other.""There are no eyes," Amelia snaps."There are," Landon nods. "You two speak to each other's souls, you have something special, always did.""That was another life," Amelia sniffs, "I should have known better." "Look, Ezra is going through something." Landon sighs, scratching the back of his head. This one is very emotionally unavailable, but it is one of his best qualities. "So am I but you don't see me crying wolf.""I'm sorry, but try to understand him. His emotions are everywhere. This man has been as good as a robot since Serenity died, but with you in the room, this is the most I have seen him alive in a long time.""No, I don't want to hear it." Amelia sniffs, wiping her tears away but that merely smears paint on her face."Blaming you means he isn't at fault, it means he doesn't want you, it means he didn't betray he
"Why you little..."Ezra slams his hand on the table. "Enough, let's have a quiet family dinner and—""How is it a family dinner if your wife isn't at the table Dad?" Valerie darling counters, "Why not tell Aunt Eliza that you fucked that up, tell her why she won't come to the table. What did you do to her? She hasn't left her room at all, not with you around.""Young lady, be respectful.""I'm done," she huffs, pushing away from the table. "Boys, come with me. I'll cut your stake and give you dessert.""Can I come too?" Serenity quietly asks.Valerie darling grins, "Of course, princess." She says, going around the table to get my son out of his seat. She takes him, gives the rest of the kids their plates and leads them to the kitchen."I'm done here, I'll be in my prison cell." Valerie honey rises, "Alone, because my brothers are taken." She grumbles as she walks away.Landon walks into the room, whistling. "What a day, congratulations Ez, you're losing them one by one.""Shut up La
ELIZA I have a pack event to plan, in about three days we are expecting a certain older Alpha who is looking for a successor among the younger generation. His pack is not so large and Ezra has a good shot at being the successor, more so because the packs are close, merging would be easier. I've been planning it with Cecily but then it hit me, we have a Luna now and she has to be involved partially or solely. My job is legalities only, parties or dinners are a Luna thing. However, Amelia said no when I asked and I'm not one to take no for an answer so I decided to come to the packhouse and convince her myself. Amelia was out when I arrived so I had to return home but I'm back again, because I'm a relentless pest. The living is busy, with Valerie sitting on the sofa while the boys chase each other around, and no one hears me until I speak. "Good evening, everyone." I greet them, setting my son down on the floor."Hi Aunt Eliza," Valerie says, not bothering to look up from her phone.
The sound of my alarm clock stirs me awake, but I'm too weak to reach for it, too drowsy and clinging to the five more minutes I can get while attempting to mute the sounds in my ears.I'm nearly successful with my deluded plan but then I hear ruffling, and then a scream. Only then do I remember I'm not alone in this bed. My eyes snap open and I'm met with Ezra looking around my bed with wide dilated eyes."No, no," he repeatedly chants, shaking his head. "God no.""Ezra?" I frown. What's wrong?" I softly ask, reaching for his arm, but he pushes me away."You," he says, almost breathless. "You-you're wrong. How...how...how did this happen?"Half relief floods through me, so that's why he's panicking like he's seen a ghost. "Ezra, it's okay." I try to him, I know we never planned on sleeping together or anything near close to that but he's fine. "No, it isn't okay," he snaps, scuffling out of bed. He finds his pants easily, hands still shaking as he tries to put them on. He does so wi
