PROTECTIVE MOTHER

LEXI’S POV

I rushed up the stairs, walking stealthily until I reached my bedroom and pushed it open. The sight in front of me made me freeze.

Dexter was awake, sitting up on the bed with Jax sat beside him, holding him close.

“Dexter,” I breathed in relief, rushing to him with trembling hands. I pulled my son into my hands, relieved that he was breathing properly again.

But Dexter wasn’t hugging me back.

I pulled away and looked into his eyes, still smiling in relief. “My baby, I am so glad you are back.”

“Um… who are you?” he asked suddenly, sounding confused.

I turned to Jax immediately, whose surprise mirrored mine.

“What do you mean Dexter?” I asked, smiling awkwardly as I placed a hand on his cheek. “It is your mommy.”

“But I…I don’t know who you are,” he said weakly, his brows knitted in confusion like my words weren’t registering in his brain.

My breath seized in my chest. “What kind of a joke is that?” I asked. Checking his eyes to see if he was honestly pl

CAUGHT IN THE ACTLEXI’S POVDexter shook his head, dashing my hopes immediately. “I couldn’t see her face, I ran away from her before she could hurt me,” He said, still trembling in fear. “Oh my dear boy,” I hugged him tightly, feeling my eyes moisten in tears. “I hate that you had such a terrible dream.”“It is fine mom,” he said when we pulled away and I paused immediately, processing what he had just said.“Wait…you just called me mom,” I said barely, hiding my excitement. Dexter gave me a soft look. “I remember that you are my mother now, I saw you in my dreams.”The tears that I had been holding back fell from my eyes immediately. “You remember me?” I repeated, pointing at myself.Dexter smiled, looking at me with the warmth of the son I had missed. “Of course I remember mom.”I pulled him into my arms, hugging him tightly, happy that at least one good thing had come from this.“What else do you remember?” I asked him expectantly and he stared blankly at me.“I don’t know…” h

UNDER A VEIL OF CONCERNLEXI’S POV Wayne hid behind me as soon as he saw Clara.“Good morning guys,” Clara greeted, flashing a bright smile that didn’t reach her eyes.“You are up early,” Manny commented, walking past her as he headed to the dining table. “Yeah Manny,” Clara followed after him. “I had a really rough night last night, while you guys slept in adjoining bedrooms.”I rolled my eyes at her snarky comment, feeling Wayne continue to hold on to me like he was hiding his face.Seeing my child hide in fear from this woman, while she complained to my mate, pissed me off. “Well I slept perfectly fine,” I said to her with a thin smile. “It has been a while since I have had peace of mind in this place anyway.”“I didn't ask you about your night though,” Clara replied coldly. “I honestly couldn't care less.”“That's too bad,” I smirked at her, feeling Wayne grip on to my shirt tighter. “I feel like sharing my good news.”Clara rolled her eyes and stepped closer to Manny. “Why are

FIXING THE BROKEN LEXI’S POV“What?” Clara asked in shock, looking from Manny’s face to mine. “You can’t possibly be serious Manny.”“You heard me,” Manny insisted, his eyes locked on mine. “Lexi and the boys are getting moved to my adjoining bedroom.”“There is no way,” Jax whispered in shock.“Guards, you can start packing their bags,” Manny ordered, turning away while I stood there, still processing everything. Was this really a good idea? I asked myself.“Manny,” Clara stepped in front of him suddenly. “Are you hearing yourself, do you really want to live right next to that woman?” “That woman…” Manny started. “...is the mother of my children and if I say that she will stay next to me, then she will. Right Lexi?” Manny turned to me then and my eyes widened in shock.“Don’t do it Lexi?” Jax said immediately. “If you stay with him, he will never let you leave.”“Yeah Lex,” Clara added, glaring at me, like she was trying to warn me somehow. “Don’t make a mistake you will regret.”

CHAPTER 69 - ENRAGEDMANNY’S POVI hadn’t planned to end up here, shouting at Lexi for what felt like the millionth time in days while our children stared at me like I was a crazy person, but she always managed to push me to the wall like this.I allowed her to take care of Dexter while he regained his memory and I allowed her stay indoors with him, indulging her paranoia that someone was out to get them by asking the maid to send their food upstairs everyday, but this… this was too much.Imagine my shock this morning when Clara told me that Jax was conveniently missing from his room when he didn’t have breakfast with us.My mind reached the conclusion even before she spelled it out for me. If Jax wasn’t in his room, there was only one place he could be—Lexi’s room.I stormed up to her room and sure enough, he was there, seated cosily with my mate, his arm on her thigh as they conversed right in front of my sons.Just who the hell did he think he was?I confronted Lexi and sure enoug

KEEPING HER SONS SAFELEXI’S POVNow that Clara knew that Dexter could regain his memory and expose her, I was even more cautious with her.I continued to have breakfast in my room, staying by Dexter's side 24/7. The only time I left Dexter's side was when I was sneaking out to monitor Wayne and even then Jax helped me watch Dexter while I was gone.Clara was playing smarter than I expected this week, it was like she knew that I was investigating her so she didn't do anything out of the ordinary. She retired to her room early and even left Wayne alone, but even with her staying away, I was still uneasy.I knew it was just a matter of time before she struck again and this time I wasn't going to let that happen.I made my decision in the middle of the night, I was going to bring Wayne to my room.I didn't like the idea of him sleeping alone without me to protect him, especially not with Clara still roaming the halls and so I moved his things to my room that night sneakily without tellin
