CHAPTER 5

ALPHA BENSON:

"Benson, you have to forgive Emma and take her back as your mate. You need a Luna to govern this pack," my mother, Luna Nova, spoke to me as she came into my bedroom.

It was a bright Monday morning, and I wanted to go about the pack and visit the pack hospital, as well as other establishments we had in the Crescent Moon Pack.

I had finished having my bath and was dressing in my room when my mother came in. She was a 45-year-old, brown-skinned woman, with orange eyes and long red hair.

Mom was beautiful, but she was speaking to me about accepting a mate who had cheated on me.

The moment I caught Emma Collins cheating on me with one of the pack warriors, I didn't waste time rejecting her, and my mother wanted to speak to me about it.

My only annoyance was that Emma and I already had a child, and I didn't want to see her or her baby. It made me feel like I was not the father of her daughter.

"Mom," I sighed as I stood beside my bed, wearing a brown shirt and donning black trousers too.

I had my back facing her as I avoided meeting her eyes. Mom had an enchanting face that could cause any man to lust after her, and I didn't want to fall for her looks and accept Emma back. It was over between Emma and me, and I wanted to do a DNA test to know if Emma's daughter, Celine, was truly my child.

Celine was two years old, and she resembled Emma. So I wanted to consider doing the DNA test now that Emma had been sent away.

"Mom, I cannot take Emma back. You don't expect me to have a cheating mate ruling beside me. Have you thought of the possibility that she might plot to kill me so that she can have one of her lovers as the new Alpha of our pack? Emma and I were fated mates, and I did everything to satisfy her. But she is a nympho and not satisfied. As an Alpha, I have the pack to take care of. I cannot be fụcking my wife morning, afternoon, and night. Who does that?"

I looked at my mother's face, and she sighed.

"I understand, Benson. But Emma has also done well as the pack's Luna. She will govern the pack well. Just bring her back," Mom begged me as she donned a red top and black skirt. She wore black sandals on her feet and was of average height.

I sighed. "I will think about that, but not now. And I don't want to see Emma anywhere around this palace. The way you plead on her behalf makes me wonder if that was how you cheated on my father too." I asked my mother, and her eyes narrowed at me.

"Benson!" Mom yelled my name and spat, "I never cheated on your father. I understand the responsibility that comes with becoming a Luna. But for the sake of your child and your mate bond with Emma..."

"The mate bond is already broken. I will find another mate, and if possible, a second-chance mate," I told my mother as I approached her and held her shoulders warmly.

"Mom, we have successfully built a strong pack over the years. We cannot allow someone like Emma, who isn't trustworthy, to rule beside me. All she thinks about is sex, and she will be ready to sell our pack off once she sees another man with a good dìck to pleasure her as much as she wants him. I cannot take that risk now, and I am not stopping you from going to see Emma and Celine at her father's house. But she is not welcome here."

I let go of my mother's arms and went to pick up my briefcase as I set out to leave for my office first.

"That's fine. You should join me for breakfast before leaving the house," Mom said as she turned to leave my bedroom.

"Alright, Mom," I agreed and walked up to meet her. We exited the room together.

As we went downstairs to the living room, my father came in and looked at us.

"Good morning, Dad," I greeted him, seeing that he was in black clothes—a black top and trousers—and he smiled at me.

"Morning, Benson. Where are you going now? We have some business partners from the Bright Moon Pack who want to partner with us today. Aren't you going to wait to welcome them?" Dad asked, and I knew that for the sake of peace, he had been doing business with Alpha Bruce Adonis. The man had claimed many territories and ruled over them, and if not for Dad's partnership with him, they would have launched an attack on my territory.

My pack was one of the peaceful packs. But I didn't accept foreigners from other packs. Even if I did, I tended to keep watch on them and ensure they were not a threat to my pack members' lives and business.

"Dad, I will be back before Beta Andrew gets here. So you have nothing to worry about. This is still 8 a.m., and I have to visit other establishments as we discussed the previous week," I said, taking a glance at the golden wristwatch strapped around my left wrist.

"That's fine, Benson. I just came in from the pack's training camp. I will soon be going there, but I had to return to remind you of it." Dad said. He was a 50-year-old man who had handed over the pack to me barely a year ago. But he still loved to remind me of my duties and business appointments with some other pack Alphas.

"It's alright, Father. You have nothing to worry about. My pack will never come under attack. Even if it does, I will be ready for any war with the other packs," I assured him as he stood in the living room.

"Alright," Dad agreed with a smile while I went to the dining table to have breakfast with my mother. I wasn't her only child. I had two siblings: a younger brother named Bowen, a 23-year-old man, and a younger sister named Vera. She was 18 years old and had graduated from high school.

I was a 26-year-old, and I sighed and sat on the dining room chair to have my breakfast with my mother.
