Chapter 6

Benson's POV:

As I finished having my breakfast with my parents, I stood up to leave the mansion.

"Dad, Mom, I am leaving for the office," I told my parents, and my father nodded.

"Alright, Benson. You can go," Dad dismissed me as he sat at the dining chair.

I picked up my briefcase to leave the house, and as I stepped out into the beautiful surroundings, my beta arrived and bowed to me.

"Good morning, Alpha," Dennis greeted me. He wore a white shirt and black trousers, and he was a dark-skinned man, 24 years old. He scented like cedarwood.

"Morning. Have you warmed up the car as I asked you to do last week?" I asked him as we walked to my car.

"Yes, Alpha. I did, and the cars are ready for use," he replied as we approached the cars.

"Well, I will be going to the pack hospital first to see the sick werewolves. How about the training camp and the pack's school? Have you made a visit there to see how my father is helping out?" I demanded, as Dennis was about my height.

"No, Alpha. I have been busy with the company and tax collection in our pack. The last tax collector, David Paulo, absconded with the money generated, and we are running a search for him. We found out he had left the pack with his family and gone to a humans' city farther away from us," Dennis relayed as we stood beside my car.

"David cannot abscond for long or stay away from the other packs. As werewolves and humans cannot live together for long without being found out. Find him and bring him back. Send out his information to the other packs' betas to keep watch for him," I said as I took the car key from Dennis's hand, opened my car door, and got in.

It was a black Mercedes-Benz GLC. We were rich and lived a standard life, as we had our own pack school, university, and markets too.

"Alright, Alpha. I was about to leave for the hospital as I got a report that some injured werewolves were found near our pack territory. So they are being treated at the pack hospital, and I haven't yet confirmed if they are awake to be brought to your office," Dennis said as I shut my car door and looked at his face.

"How many were there?" I demanded and frowned.

"About four of them," he replied, and I sighed.

"I will be heading to the hospital now, so you don't have to worry about going there. But ensure you get to the market and find a replacement for the old tax collector. Order the gatekeeper to unlock the gate; I'm leaving the palace," I said, to which Dennis bowed and walked away from my car.

I roared the car engine to life as the ignition turned on, then drove out of the palace and headed for the pack's hospital first.

I kept my gaze focused on the road as I drove ahead to the pack hospital.

As I got there, I drove into the hospital grounds and parked my car.

I turned off the ignition and got out of the car, still dressed in a brown shirt and black trousers, paired with black polished shoes.

I left my briefcase in the car and walked up to the magnificent hospital entrance and entered.

Though we hardly had sick patients here in my pack, I wanted to see the pack doctor for a DNA test for my daughter, Celine Banks.

It wasn't something I wanted to make public yet, but I desired to have the DNA test done so that I would stop looking at Celine as if she weren't my child. But I perceived her as mine. She had an oriental scent of frankincense, but she resembled Emma, even though she had orange eyes and red hair like my mother.

"Welcome, Alpha," Dr. Chris, the pack's new doctor, welcomed me as I entered the hospital lobby.

I was sure that he might have perceived my scent, as I had a strong earthy scent that I used to show my dominance by secreting more alpha pheromones in any place I entered.

However, I caught the delicious scent of jasmine that hovered around Dr. Chris's shirt, and my black eyes narrowed as I didn't want to think about it.

Not now, but the scent of jasmine was so welcoming that my wolf, Odin, wanted to take charge and find the source of the sweet, delicious scent.

"Alpha, is everything alright?" Dr. Chris asked, as he noticed me sweating, thereby secreting more of my alpha pheromones that made everyone in the hospital lobby bow and submit their heads to me.

I was their new Alpha, so they showed me respect all the time. But this time, my alpha aura was taking charge, and this was caused by my wolf, Odin. He had been hurt and had shut me out since Emma and her wolf, Agnes, cheated on him.

"Yes, I am fine. But what is that smell of jasmine on you, and why does it seem like you're carrying a woman's scent?" I demanded, and Dr. Chris's yellow eyes widened in shock.

"Oh, forgive me, Alpha Benson. I was on a ward round, but with some of the stubborn new foreigners who are yet to be introduced to you. And maybe, she had mistakenly filled the air around me with her intoxicating scent, as I found out that she was on a scent suppressant. So I took it off, and that's why I have her scent all over me," Dr. Chris explained, and my wolf was curious to go and see the new foreigner who had the delicious scent.

But I shut him out. Odin couldn't be interested in a foreigner. As much as I would have loved to go and see this foreigner who had this relaxing and inviting scent, I still needed to follow my pack protocol and ensure that she was not an enemy sent to destroy my pack.

"That's fine. I am not here to check on the foreigner yet, as I have something important to discuss with you. Follow me," I said, as Dr. Chris's father was the former pack doctor but now retired.

"Alright, Alpha," Dr. Chris led me to his office on the first floor of the magnificent two-story building.

However, Odin charged within me and growled in my head, "Come on, Benson. We need to go and see her first."

"No, not this time, Odin. Pack rules are to be adhered to," I told my wolf and pushed him to the depths of my mind. But he kept fighting for me to suspend everything I wanted to do and go to the new mate.

"No!" I shut my wolf out this time and focused on Dr. Chris, who looked at me worriedly.

"I am fine," I said and entered Dr. Chris' office with him. We settled across from each other, and I told him why I was there.
