Chapter 13: The Visit  

I woke up panting. Probably even screaming and thrashing hard.

It wasn’t a nightmare. But it was enough to make cold sweats drip from my face. Enough to realize my throat dried up.

The guard outside yelled something at me, and then I heard a growl of warning and a fist pounding on my prison-room’s doors. “Silence!”

I only answered with silence as well.

Judging by their guttural voices, it’s still dark outside. Their voices only lighten when the sun brightens the world outside, that’s so far I’ve noticed.

“Fuck.” I wiped the sweat from my brow, my other hand on my chest.
