The morning light streamed gently through the high windows, spilling warmth across the chamber floor. Calla sat quietly by Dominic’s side, watching the slow rise and fall of his chest as he slept. His face, though pale, looked more at peace than it had in days. The battle wounds that had nearly claimed his life still ached beneath their bindings, but each sunrise gave her more reason to hope.

She reached out, brushing a loose strand of hair from his forehead, her touch tender and lingering. For the first time since the storm, she could feel her spirit loosening from the tight coil of fear that had gripped it. He was healing. They were healing and growing in emotions as they spent more time with each other.

A soft knock sounded on the door, pulling her from her thoughts.

“Come in,” she called, her voice low to avoid waking him.

The door creaked open, and Gamma James stepped inside. His presence was always solid, like the roots of an oak tree. He carried a tray in his hands, the aroma o

  • Alpha’s last choice.   Loyalty in strength.

The Villa was unusually quiet that morning, the kind of silence that pressed against Calla’s ears until every soft sound became louder. The clatter of dishes from the kitchen, the shuffle of papers in the study, even the faint creak of floorboards seemed sharper. Beatrice was leaving today.Calla had known it was coming, but knowing did not dull the ache in her chest. She stood by the window overlooking the courtyard, where Beatrice’s small group of attendants had already begun loading trunks onto the waiting carriage. The sight was both grounding and hollow. Beatrice might have been a constant pain to Dominic however she was of help the past days. She was quiet, not every word around her got to her. To imagine the Villa without her felt like taking a piece of its foundation away. Despite what she had done to Alpha Dominic, Calla still believed she should stay. She hoped she could turn everyone's heart over but it was too late.Beatrice herself entered a few moments later, dressed ele

  • Alpha’s last choice.   I can feel the sarcasm.

Calla woke to the sound of light conversation drifting down the hall. It was unusual in the Villa, that kind of soft laughter threading through the air instead of the hurried footsteps of attendants or the sharp calls of warriors. She sat up, smoothing her robe, and realized with a small flutter of anticipation that today Matt and Samantha were coming. They had sent word that they wished to thank her personally, and by extension Dominic, for entrusting them with the position of Superintendents of the warriors. As she went down the stairs, she caught sight of them waiting in the reception hall. Matt looked almost uncomfortable in the polished tunic he wore, tugging lightly at the cuffs as if they itched. Samantha, on the other hand, radiated a quiet poise, though Calla could see the way her eyes darted around, taking in every detail of the Villa’s entrance as if committing it to memory.Calla smiled warmly. She remembered the two of them in the camps, the way they had worked tirelessly

CALLA'S POV The chamber smelled of herbs and iron. Calla sat at Dominic’s bedside, her hands folded tightly in her lap. For days now she had lived in this rhythm of tending and waiting, her heart moving between relief that he was alive and fear that his body might still betray him.Dominic was not a patient man. Even wounded, his spirit burned hotter than most men could stand. She had watched him grit his teeth through fevers, try to rise when he could not even stand, and curse his own weakness as if it were a personal enemy. But despite his defiance, his strength was not what it once was.Calla reached for the cloth resting in the basin of water by the bed and wrung it carefully. She pressed it against his forehead and cheeks, letting the coolness soothe his skin. His lashes fluttered, and his eyes opened slowly.“You should be resting,” he murmured, his voice hoarse. She smiled faintly. “I could say the same to you.”His lips twitched, the ghost of a smirk. “I am Alpha. Resting feel

  • Alpha’s last choice.   Alpha, I am here.

“You were not my friend, you were just using me to stay afloat, I was just a tool to make yourself feel good,” Alpha Gideon replied “I can't believe you'd say this but there's absolutely nothing I can do because I can't control your thinking however, I hope you understand that I have never really done anything bad to you. All I wanted was for you to be a better wolf, for you to be good. I was just helping you and all I could get from the whole thing is you believing I was sabotaging you?” He said“What help? You are funny from what you are saying. Can you tell me what you need me to stay with when you acquired everything and I became the bad one. The desperate Alpha and even my own heart can't secure a mate for me. This is something you need to sit with yourself and think about, were you really helping me or selling yourself as the good one and you expect me to keep resting on you and seeing you take care of everything while I just rely on you like a fool,”“You took the whole thing
