I don’t get it

Ezekiel's POV

I watched her pretty eyes close up as she laid her head on my chest. She looked so tired. And it was already morning.

Thoughts of all that happened last night rushed to mind, and the sweetness of that scent returned to my nostrils.

Was this goddess really trying to tempt me into welcoming a mate into my life?

Most girls like her would be out my door by now, but there was no way I could resist this body and just fling her out like the usual.

My hand ran through the strands of her hair, and her eyes opened again as I kissed her forehead. I felt that familiar tingling sensation on my skin...I’d never felt it with any girl I’d brought to my room before.

“Are you alright?” I asked, wiping the beads of sweat from her face as she sat up with me in bed.

She nodded, then cowered as if remembering where she was. It looked like she was trying to hide the fact that she was scared. She was recalling everything that happened last night, even the words I said to her.

It got to the point of pleasure where I actually called her my mate, and I still didn’t regret saying it. Her eyes rolled toward me, and I swallowed hard, pulling her closer to myself. I could feel her gaze resting on mine with something almost desperate. I was about to whisper some loving words to reassure her she was mine, when the door burst open and my heart skipped a beat.

She was scared too.

Then I heard my father’s angry voice as he stood tall in front of me, his brutal stare slicing through the room.

“Ezekiel, was this what we agreed upon?” He asked with cold anger.

“I don’t get it.”

“What are you doing with this little slut?”

“Don’t call her that anymore. She’s not,” I stood up and approached him. “She’s my mate, and I’m ready to have her to myself. I wanted to tell you a while ago, but you always fuck everything up.”

“Mate?” He gritted his teeth and laughed slowly before his voice hardened again.

“I’m glad you confessed. Ezekiel, before my eyes, I want you to reject her right now.”

I crossed my arms and waited for him to do his worst.

“You definitely can’t be a leader with this weak mindset. How could you rule a pack full of wolves with a weakling by your side?”

“I’ll figure it out. Isn’t it the throne you’re giving me?”

“Well, I definitely won’t give it to someone who’s lost his mind and can’t see that this is one of those random girls you’ll use and dump!”

“She’s my mate. Nothing changes that. You can as well fuck off with the throne,” I said, turning back to her as I helped Violet to her feet, resting my arms on her shoulders.

Father gritted his teeth. “Is this what you promised your late mother? That you’d fuck up and cling to someone weak?"

As my arms rested on Violet’s shoulders, memories flooded me. On the night my mother passed, she urged me to make a vow.

I promised her I’d come back, take the throne if my father stepped down, and rule the pack better than he did, with someone strong by my side.

But I never imagined my mate would be a weak wolf. Not my fault she was an Omega. I liked everything else about her. She was pretty, strong in her own way, shaped perfectly, and damn, she was good in bed. She was conversational, chatty. The weakness? We could work around that.

“What are you waiting for? Reject this Omega and drag her out of my sight. We’re here for serious business,” he said, while my mother’s voice echoed in my soul.

Father’s been a hell of an ass, and my mother was the opposite: lovely and everything to me. She never scolded me for fucking the girls I liked. I couldn’t ignore the promises I made her.

I took a deep breath and turned to Violet. Her eyes were glossy; the happiness she wore last night was gone. We’d talked for hours after the sex, planning the places we’d visit next.

I never imagined my father would be the end of what we had.

“I’m sorry,” I lowered my head and said to Violet. She bit her lower lip and looked down too.

“I, Ezekiel...” The scent filled my nostrils again. Shit. Keeping this girl close should be my priority.

“I reject you as my mate.” I said and raised my head, mouthing it again to her. “I’m so sorry.”

I saw tears form in her eyes. She fought to keep them back. She must’ve imagined so much: our journey, our rule together, our power.

She gave herself to me, and she didn’t mind, all because she believed one thing: we were mates. I was the irresistible playboy, sure, but last night, she was almost ready for my mark on her neck.

“Leave this room, or I’ll have the guards throw you out,” father said, burning with hatred. I wondered why he hated her so much.

“She didn’t commit a crime, father. You don’t talk like that.”

“Get out!” Father shouted, and she cowered, gathering her clothes and rushing for the door.

I wanted to run after her, but father blocked me, eyes full of rage.

“There are things you must let go if you want to rule. Keep your promise to your mother. I’m the last witness here.”

“She doesn’t deserve this. I called her here myself.” I looked at my father with rage.

“She deserves worse. These girls are cheap and weak. All trying for the Luna spot, and I can’t watch some idiot get there.”

I didn’t say anything else. I walked out, searching for Violet. We needed to talk. I had to explain why this happened. Rejecting a weak wolf could break her completely.

Jeremy bumped into me in the hallway. Concern was written all over his face.

“You look troubled. What’s wrong? I was heading to your room with party updates.”

“Everything’s wrong, Jeremy. Find Violet for me.”

“Who?”

“Remember the canteen we used to eat at?”

He nodded. “What about it?”

“That girl at the counter. Search for her. I’ll explain later.” I patted his back and walked off quickly. I tried to smell her scent, but it was gone.

Her wolf must have shut down completely. Oh, shit. What had I done?

Why was she so irresistible? Why was the goddess stirring all this chaos for me? Maybe she should never have crossed my path. Or maybe I should never have made that promise to my mother. I couldn’t get her out of my head.

I crashed near the restroom to process everything. An hour later, Jeremy appeared from the distance.

“I saw her, with your father,” he said. My heart hammered fast.

“Where?”

“At the wolf tree outside. Her name is being erased.”

“What?” I scowled in anger, trying to move, but he held me back.

“She must have committed a crime. Your father wouldn’t banish just any wolf. She’s gone, banned immediately.”

“No, that can’t be. She didn’t do anything.” I burst from his grip, rushing outside. He followed as we stared at the wolf tree from the border.

“She’s really gone, man. What’s she to you? Why care so much?”

Tears rolled down my face as I watched my father return, proud that he’d sent her away from me. The scent was gone from my nostrils, but it still burned on my chest.

I’d rejected my mate. And she was gone, just like that.

I crouched on the floor, lowering my head as my mind raced. Was this really how I’d let her go?

“Is she your mate?”

“Are you dumb? Can’t you tell?” I snapped at Jeremy.

He gasped. “Damn, man. Why…”

I didn’t wait for him to finish. I turned and ran back to my room, desperate to find any trace she’d left behind. Maybe there was a way to reach her again.

Violet's POV"Where are you taking me to?" I asked as Fred led me towards a destination after placing a blindfold on my eyes."You've agreed to seduce the Alpha, haven't you?""I have. Where is the place? I'm not wearing a mask and I can be caught and shot to death. Don't you remember?" I quickly informed."We are inside his room now. Your eyes will remain closed but you've got to shake your ass when he comes inside." Fred said, and I quickly tried to remove the blindfold but he was quicker than I was."Why are you hiding his face from me?""Because he loves ghost strippers. I'll be right here to make sure everything goes smoothly.""How will I seduce someone I can't see? This isn't seduction. I'm tired already," I said with a deep sigh, and he threatened to stab me if I removed the blindfold. The threats sent chills down my spine and I cooperated instantly."He's here," he slapped my cheeks softly before he returned to his seat. I could guess the directions he moved to because of the

Ezekiel's POV"I didn't know the meeting would be so smooth. Your friends are great men undoubtedly," Kira complimented as she dropped into the seat across from me."Did they agree with you just like that?""I'm as shocked as you are. You're doubting the genuineness of their agreement to cancel the evil plot, right?" she asked, and I could only nod to that."I had the same feeling, and I locked them up to have a clear mind," she acknowledged, and I scoffed softly."Did you really lock my friends up in the cell rooms?" I asked, and she squinted her eyes at me in shock."Weren't you trying to do that?" she asked."I was, but not in an obvious direction. It's fine though. But what are the secrets you got from them since you were the expert who interrogated them?" I asked, closing the large book next to me."I didn't threaten them well enough to get secrets from them, but they did spill some without being asked. They claimed they were promised to have a taste of the Alpha position each, b

  • Alphas obsession: beg for your mate    The fraction within

Ezekiel's POV"We don't have to raise our voices, man. Don't force us to do that," Fred whispered as he closed the door to my room. Daniel sat next to me on the bed as their words continued to replay in my mind.It was unbelievable to see them say those words with serious tones and actions backing them up."You've been my close friends. How can you be trying to take my rights from me now?" I turned to Daniel, but his face already showed me he wasn't going to change his mind."Are you doing this because Jeremy isn't active?" I stood up to ask."If Jeremy was active, he would join us to get this throne from you. We suggested this idea some months ago and he was never against it. In fact, he wanted the throne so badly that his eyes were on your own mate, Violet. He wanted her, and he might have actually slept with her, unawares to you," Fred said to my face, but there was no way this could be true."You came to say hello and to console me for the loss of my father. • Alphas obsession: beg for your mate    The proposal

Violet's POV"The Alpha doesn't love Kira. We know that," a female teenage wolf said to her friend as they journeyed toward the hallway."But why did he refuse to tell us what happened with Violet? She is much better than Kira, isn't she?" the friend replied."Of course she is, but she's definitely not going back to the Luna seat. Ezekiel swore to part ways with her. I believe they had a very heated argument which led to this quick decision, but Ezekiel should have considered us too," the girl quietly responded, but I heard the words very clearly.I crouched beside the corner leading to the hallway, pretending to be expecting someone to arrive. To be here in the first place, I had to wear a mask, yet some passersby noticed something was not right but minded their business nonetheless.Rumors spread concerning the invasion of wild rogues in the pack last night, but Luna Kira was not able to solve that. Twenty werewolves died in the process of taking out the rogues, but Ezekiel decided

Ezekiel's POVMy doorbell rang, catching my attention as I granted permission for the person to come inside. There were actually two people standing by my doorway, lowering their heads slightly before coming in.They were in black suits, trousers, and shoes, which made me guess the reason they had arrived at my office."Old friends," I murmured, shaking hands with them, a forced smile pressed to my chin."Ezekiel, we're sorry about what happened. It's so sad to hear about Jeremy's passing. He doesn't deserve to die," Daniel said, sobbing quietly as he sat down on the chair across from me."You know how much I hate to witness emotional displays from men like you. Don't piss me off with your statements. Jeremy is in a terrible condition. He's not dead. Is that why you wore black clothing?" I asked, my eyes flashing with anger."It's been a while since you saw us. You can't afford to raise your voice at us, Ezekiel. Your being the Alpha doesn't change a thing," Fred intervened. Violet's POV"Quiet," Diane murmured as we tiptoed to the room. We sat down on the king-sized bed as she slammed the door shut, locking it immediately."How did you find us?" I asked, but she shushed me once again."Don’t say a word yet. The guards are moving around. If they realize that I saved your asses, we will all be in trouble," Diane responded with a whisper, and we all nodded. My father lay on the bed, breathing heavily as he stared at the bruises on his chest and arms. He was at the verge of death when Diane cast the spell to make it possible for us to escape."I never would have done this for you, Violet. Know why?" Diane started, now that she had confirmed the guards were no longer lurking around the room."Why? I’m sorry I made you go through the stress of the spell, but..." I replied to her, but she rather approached my father, checking the bruised spots with tears in her eyes. That triggered the memories of when she informed me about her interest in my father.
