LOGINEzekiel's POV
I watched her pretty eyes close up as she laid her head on my chest. She looked so tired. And it was already morning. Thoughts of all that happened last night rushed to mind, and the sweetness of that scent returned to my nostrils. Was this goddess really trying to tempt me into welcoming a mate into my life? Most girls like her would be out my door by now, but there was no way I could resist this body and just fling her out like the usual. My hand ran through the strands of her hair, and her eyes opened again as I kissed her forehead. I felt that familiar tingling sensation on my skin...I’d never felt it with any girl I’d brought to my room before. “Are you alright?” I asked, wiping the beads of sweat from her face as she sat up with me in bed. She nodded, then cowered as if remembering where she was. It looked like she was trying to hide the fact that she was scared. She was recalling everything that happened last night, even the words I said to her. It got to the point of pleasure where I actually called her my mate, and I still didn’t regret saying it. Her eyes rolled toward me, and I swallowed hard, pulling her closer to myself. I could feel her gaze resting on mine with something almost desperate. I was about to whisper some loving words to reassure her she was mine, when the door burst open and my heart skipped a beat. She was scared too. Then I heard my father’s angry voice as he stood tall in front of me, his brutal stare slicing through the room. “Ezekiel, was this what we agreed upon?” He asked with cold anger. “I don’t get it.” “What are you doing with this little slut?” “Don’t call her that anymore. She’s not,” I stood up and approached him. “She’s my mate, and I’m ready to have her to myself. I wanted to tell you a while ago, but you always fuck everything up.” “Mate?” He gritted his teeth and laughed slowly before his voice hardened again. “I’m glad you confessed. Ezekiel, before my eyes, I want you to reject her right now.” I crossed my arms and waited for him to do his worst. “You definitely can’t be a leader with this weak mindset. How could you rule a pack full of wolves with a weakling by your side?” “I’ll figure it out. Isn’t it the throne you’re giving me?” “Well, I definitely won’t give it to someone who’s lost his mind and can’t see that this is one of those random girls you’ll use and dump!” “She’s my mate. Nothing changes that. You can as well fuck off with the throne,” I said, turning back to her as I helped Violet to her feet, resting my arms on her shoulders. Father gritted his teeth. “Is this what you promised your late mother? That you’d fuck up and cling to someone weak?" As my arms rested on Violet’s shoulders, memories flooded me. On the night my mother passed, she urged me to make a vow. I promised her I’d come back, take the throne if my father stepped down, and rule the pack better than he did, with someone strong by my side. But I never imagined my mate would be a weak wolf. Not my fault she was an Omega. I liked everything else about her. She was pretty, strong in her own way, shaped perfectly, and damn, she was good in bed. She was conversational, chatty. The weakness? We could work around that. “What are you waiting for? Reject this Omega and drag her out of my sight. We’re here for serious business,” he said, while my mother’s voice echoed in my soul. Father’s been a hell of an ass, and my mother was the opposite: lovely and everything to me. She never scolded me for fucking the girls I liked. I couldn’t ignore the promises I made her. I took a deep breath and turned to Violet. Her eyes were glossy; the happiness she wore last night was gone. We’d talked for hours after the sex, planning the places we’d visit next. I never imagined my father would be the end of what we had. “I’m sorry,” I lowered my head and said to Violet. She bit her lower lip and looked down too. “I, Ezekiel...” The scent filled my nostrils again. Shit. Keeping this girl close should be my priority. “I reject you as my mate.” I said and raised my head, mouthing it again to her. “I’m so sorry.” I saw tears form in her eyes. She fought to keep them back. She must’ve imagined so much: our journey, our rule together, our power. She gave herself to me, and she didn’t mind, all because she believed one thing: we were mates. I was the irresistible playboy, sure, but last night, she was almost ready for my mark on her neck. “Leave this room, or I’ll have the guards throw you out,” father said, burning with hatred. I wondered why he hated her so much. “She didn’t commit a crime, father. You don’t talk like that.” “Get out!” Father shouted, and she cowered, gathering her clothes and rushing for the door. I wanted to run after her, but father blocked me, eyes full of rage. “There are things you must let go if you want to rule. Keep your promise to your mother. I’m the last witness here.” “She doesn’t deserve this. I called her here myself.” I looked at my father with rage. “She deserves worse. These girls are cheap and weak. All trying for the Luna spot, and I can’t watch some idiot get there.” I didn’t say anything else. I walked out, searching for Violet. We needed to talk. I had to explain why this happened. Rejecting a weak wolf could break her completely. Jeremy bumped into me in the hallway. Concern was written all over his face. “You look troubled. What’s wrong? I was heading to your room with party updates.” “Everything’s wrong, Jeremy. Find Violet for me.” “Who?” “Remember the canteen we used to eat at?” He nodded. “What about it?” “That girl at the counter. Search for her. I’ll explain later.” I patted his back and walked off quickly. I tried to smell her scent, but it was gone. Her wolf must have shut down completely. Oh, shit. What had I done? Why was she so irresistible? Why was the goddess stirring all this chaos for me? Maybe she should never have crossed my path. Or maybe I should never have made that promise to my mother. I couldn’t get her out of my head. I crashed near the restroom to process everything. An hour later, Jeremy appeared from the distance. “I saw her, with your father,” he said. My heart hammered fast. “Where?” “At the wolf tree outside. Her name is being erased.” “What?” I scowled in anger, trying to move, but he held me back. “She must have committed a crime. Your father wouldn’t banish just any wolf. She’s gone, banned immediately.” “No, that can’t be. She didn’t do anything.” I burst from his grip, rushing outside. He followed as we stared at the wolf tree from the border. “She’s really gone, man. What’s she to you? Why care so much?” Tears rolled down my face as I watched my father return, proud that he’d sent her away from me. The scent was gone from my nostrils, but it still burned on my chest. I’d rejected my mate. And she was gone, just like that. I crouched on the floor, lowering my head as my mind raced. Was this really how I’d let her go? “Is she your mate?” “Are you dumb? Can’t you tell?” I snapped at Jeremy. He gasped. “Damn, man. Why…” I didn’t wait for him to finish. I turned and ran back to my room, desperate to find any trace she’d left behind. Maybe there was a way to reach her again.Violet's POV"It's been two days since Ezekiel left the pack. I'm worried sick about his whereabouts." Diane complained, dropping off to the seat across from me. "Can you place the order for your wolves to find him?""Do you have any information on who was with him the last time you saw him in the pack?" I asked, detailing her answers."I was the one who asked him to get the skins of the deadliest of the rogues in the woods if he would like to survive the harshness of the new leadership. I didn't know he would take my words so seriously." Diane let out a deep breath as she complained."Are you aware that he belongs to the pack?" I asked, and repeated the question because I didn't receive a response."I know. He told me that he's a slave and shouldn't leave the pack for any reason, but he had to. I threatened him, and now, we need him to complete the spells." Diane concluded."How?""Because that's the requirement." She shrugged an arm as she shot back. "We need the blood of a special

Ezekiel's POVIt was the dead of the night. And I was alone in the woods, searching for the deadliest of the rogues. I needed to take them down to cut off their skins so I would survive in the new host pack of the region."Who are you?" Someone cocked a gun as I quickly turned towards the sound. I didn't see the face but the voice was crystal clear."I'm...I promise, I'm not here to hurt anyone." I said, gritting my teeth. "I just need to talk to my friend. He lives inside here. He's a hunter, just like you.""Who says I'm a hunter?" He replied boldly, firing a shot into the clouds. "Tell me the name of your hunter friend and I'll spare you.""I don't know his name. I promise you I'm not lying. It's a new friend and we didn't know each other's names. You can follow me to the spot where I'll talk to him. Please don't harm me. I'm only human." I lied to him.I saw the gun dropping and relief washed through me. "Thank you, man. I truly appreciate.""What exactly is a man looking for, dee
Ezekiel's POV"Got a new apartment? I can keep my head in there, you know." I said to Marianna. "If not, then I'm not leaving here. And no spell will make me leave.""We need to kick these human beings out of the castle, but they're being helped by witches. I have been assigned to perform a counterattack spell, but that would require your absence. Your wolf is cursed and polluted and you can only get redemption from the goddess. Leave in peace or dark magic will neutralize your existence.""Are you threatening me?""Yes I am," Diane shot back." I was paid to get this done. You have ten minutes to decide what happens. You can keep living in the pack but without a purpose. Magic will neutralize every interesting aspect of your life. Ready?""I need to talk to Violet. She has to know that something as stupid as this is going on in her room in the host pack." I said, getting up to go. They stepped out of my way, giving me room to approach the door.I tried to open it but it didn't budge.
Ezekiel's POV"You have the chance to work with me because of Isabel. Don't misuse this chance, Ezekiel." Violet had said to me last night. I was now her internal guard, now that my wolf has healed me already. My role was to stay inside her official room, make it clean always, making sure no one would get inside without her knowledge. That was much easier, and the pay was robust too. Perhaps by the end of six months I would gather enough money to purchase one of the packs under them, the same pack I'd once ruled. The doorbell rang and I got up to check who was there. Just as I guessed, it was Simon. He definitely believed she wasn't active enough to be in her office, so he came down to her room."She is not inside. I think you can check the office or the clinic." I said to his face. He rolled his eyes disgustingly at me before leaving. As soon as he did, a wave of pleasant scent wafted into my nostrils. The scent was familiar, but I couldn't figure out who owned it. I opened the door
