Violet's POV

"Why did it take so long to get back here?" I asked in a low tone, but Ezekiel didn’t reply immediately. The look on his face made it clear he wanted answers about why he had found Owen in a locked room with me.

"Here is the tray of food I got for you. Eat to your fill, and as soon as you’re done, my guards will come and pick you up," Ezekiel said as he turned to leave, but I stopped him with my response.

Why would he ignore my question, say something else, and then turn around to leave?

"Why would your guards pick me up? Where are we headed?" I asked with concern, and he spun around to face me again.

"I told you I’d give you a reply at the end of the feast about my decision to either stay here or spend the remaining two days in my own pack. I’ve decided to spend the last two days there. So, we’ll be leaving as soon as you’re done eating," Ezekiel said, shrugging his arms. My mood shifted quickly.
