I was standing dumbfounded in a room full of handsome werewolves among which one was my mate. I didn’t want to accept but I couldn’t deny this either. This was not something I could easily change or ignore as per my wish. But the question was what to do now.

Darius took me here with him without telling me what was my role in all of this and now I was stupidly staring at these men in front of me with a dizzy head.

My heart was pounding against my rib cage so hard that I was sure it would have jumped out of me if there were nothing to hold it in its place.

I was in great trouble because if he recognizes me as his mate then I would have no way to run from him. My palms were sweaty when I finally gathered the courage to look at him and said, “Hello. I’m Amaryllis Eloise.”

He couldn’t smell me. He couldn’t find out, I was his mate. All type of different scenarios was playing in my small head what if finds out? What if he killed me for being a rogue? There was no way he will accept a rogue as his mate.

He looked at Zixin with a questioning look on his face and asked with a raised brow, “Amaryllis?”

His voice was so dominant, commanding, and ascendant. There was no doubt that he was no other than Alpha. My body starts to tremble but I controlled myself. I couldn’t lose after coming so far and dying at the hands of my mate was the last thing I wanted.

I followed his gaze that fell on Zixin and he looked at Louis whose part was just to stand there to enjoy the show. Zixin was waiting for him to start explaining but when Louis didn’t utter a single word he began, “She’s a new employee he hired.”

“And what is she doing here? Isn’t this meeting supposed to happen between us three only?” asked the man who was my mate according to my werewolf.

Louis explained the reason behind my appearance in this room and anyone could see how unsatisfied he was from his response but Louis cared less.

He cleared his throat as his powerful gaze fall on me and I gulped hard. He was quiet, examining me from head to toe, adding tension to my already raising heartbeat. I was trying my best to fight every single urge to control my body.

“I hope you cleared her about how it is to work for me,” he said not breaking eye contact for a second, “Not even one mistake is tolerable.”

He was saying this to Louise but I knew it was directed toward me. I finally broke contact and moved my gaze to Louise who was still enjoying the show. I glared at him, expecting him to utter anything but when he didn’t I finally opened my mouth, “Sir, I don’t think I can-”

“Don’t worry. I have told her everything and she’s much more capable of doing work for you than any of my other employees,” Loius said and my eyes remained wide open.

What the hell is he thinking? Why he was doing this despite knowing I have no previous work experience and working for this man was the last thing I wanted to add to the list. He will strangle my neck in not two or three days because I was pretty sure that judging from my personality making mistakes was not a big deal for me.

“In that case, it’s nice to meet you,” he said with a bored expression and I smiled slightly in response.

Zixin stepped forward and start explaining the situation, “I’m Zixin and he,” he pointed towards Loius, “is Loius as you already know. He is responsible for handling the company’s affairs in the absence of the real boss, Darius Augustus.”

He said and I wondered so his name is Darius. Now the entire situation was clear. Zixin was Darius's personal man and he was the real boss of this company. Loius worked for him in his absence so he was also the boss after him.

“I will appoint you the task you are supposed to handle from now on,” Zixin continued, “let’s see if you are really as talented as Loius has told us.”

I nodded my head because that was all I could do. I wanted to leave this room at any cost, “I will prove my worth soon.”

The meeting began and they all talked about different topics but all I did was watched them with a blank face as I understood not a single thing.

I was their new employee so it was an expected reaction from me. Once they were done talking with each other, they start explaining to me what I have to do starting this moment. I wouldn’t say I understood everything but it was not like I didn’t understand anything at all.

“Now that you have got it, you may leave now,” said Zixin, and a rush of relaxation washed over me.

This was the moment I was waiting for so impatiently. I nodded and walked out the door without looking back or at my mate, once.

All the way towards the door my wolf keeps yelling at me, “He is our mate, Amaryllis,” but I ignored her. It was one of many things I have mastered in, starting from the day I decided to run away and live the rest of my life as a rogue.

“I know you can hear me, Amaryllis,” my wolf said and I sighed, “then what do you want me to do? Go and tell him I’m your mate and a rogue at the same time?”

I was frustrated at my luck. Why was I so unlucky as to have my boss as my mate and an Alpha at the same time, “He’s an Alpha and there’s no doubt how powerful he is. But thank God, he didn’t find out about my real identity,” I was telling my wolf, “I need to get out of this building or no one will ever know I even existed.”

I was telling her about the hardships we are going to face in near future but of all the things all she said was, “I need my mate, Amaryllis!”

I rolled my eyes, “No, we don’t!”

“Let me out.”

“No!”

My wolf was right at her place and I felt sorry for her but I couldn’t do what she wanted from me. After all the struggles of life, I couldn’t just go under the Alpha and start living my life as he wants. I wanted freedom more than anything else including a mate and my wolf needed to understand this.

I quickly made my way out of his scent because it was too much to handle for a day. I just met him and my heart was already jumping in my chest but I had to admit how handsome he was with his powerful hold on everything around him.

Nothing was out of his sight and I knew it would be a miracle if he wouldn’t notice something strange about me. Judging from his looks, if he ever finds out how I betrayed him as a mate he will not let me live a single day. His eyes were dark enough to scare the shit out of any living or dead creature.

I ran towards where my seat was already set up to start my first day of work as a newly hired employee. I wasn’t happy as I should have been after getting my first job ever. God was definitely testing me.

I knew this job was risky but I couldn’t find another one in such a short time. I needed to do something about it just right then my wolf said, “I think, you should keep this job. Don’t be so ungrateful, Amaryllis. And I don’t think, God is testing you rather he’s on our side for you to find such a good job with no effort.”

I wasn’t happy to admit t but she was right. I have already faced enough in my life and compared to that, this was nothing. I made my fist and nodded saying, “I can do this!”

Each word he spoke was a brushstroke on the canvas of my understanding, painting a picture of his journey of self-discovery. His voice, a melodic cadence, carried the weight of profound realizations, "Life isn't a mere passage of time, a mechanical rhythm of inhales and exhales. It's a symphony of emotions, a journey of embracing desires and aspirations that are etched into the very fibers of our hearts."His eyes, shimmering like pools of contemplation, held mine captive as he continued to weave his narrative, "I've chosen to break free from the chains of monotony, to unshackle myself from the constraints of convention.
