I hated how other girls leer at him without restraints in public, I couldn't bear the sight of it. Even if Jacob hated my guts,I resolved in my heart to stay and love him with all I have. My wolf, Nala, didn't agree on that, she always argued in my head. Nala was right; I deserved better, but I couldn't help it. I was in love and I resolved to stay. Afterall, werewolves didn't live extraordinarily long lives. I was already past the young age and life was too short to waste it without being in love even though I knew I wasn't happy. As Luna and the wife of the head Alpha, I wanted to, by all means, make my marriage work. I didn't want to be made the laughing stock of the fellow lunas and be shamed by the entire pack. For my dignity, I knew that it was necessary that I remained steadfast in my dedication to my husband, regardless of how he might act towards me— Jacob suddenly came in interrupting my thoughts. “It's almost time for the party and you haven't prepared?” He growled in a harsh tone. “What party?” I asked with a look of confusion written all over my face. I didn't remember him informing me or talking about any party. These days, he's used to giving me impromptu tasks and updates. In his words, I just have to be prepared for anything that comes up. “The party organized by the Alphas of different pack to celebrate peace and friendship between ourselves for the past years” “We are invited to it and stop sitting there moping at me.” He bellowed, and I felt myself suddenly begin to space out. “But I..” I argued but Jacob cut me off. “No buts, get dressed, we leave in about five minutes. If it wasn't for the fact that your presence as a Luna is needed, I would certainly be going with Juliana. She looks more presentable to go with than you anyway” He replied scornfully as he left the room. Juliana was my elder sister and Jacob grabbed at every opportunity he had to compare and place her over me, everything especially in the aspect of looks. True Juliana’s beauty surpassed everyone else, but beauty wasn't everything! With a beautiful set of gap teeth, wonderfully pointed nose and a skin that glowed like precious stones all the time, there could be no argument that Julianna's seraphic features were rare to be seen even in other packs. Rumors had it that Jacob had eyes for her even after we've been married. I didn't want to believe that at first because he was already mated to me and according to the stories my mother told me, werewolves of Jacob's pack can be very possessive of their mates. According to her, once you've been mated to them, it's hard to get out…at least not alone. But secretly seeing the way Jacob literally responded to Juliana's flirtatious looks and stares all the time, I immediately got that story out of my head. At the same time, I hated the fact that Juliana caught Jacob's attention. She once bragged within my earshot about Jacob being so loving in bed but obviously, I ignored her like always. I knew more than anybody that she was merely trying to get under my skin. And even if she wasn't fabricating lies, I didn't want to doubt my husband's fidelity in any way by confronting her without proof. I suddenly came into reality as I heard approaching footsteps. I quickly adjusted myself just as Juliana entered. Her hair glittered in the red hue of the chandelier light as she walked majestically towards me. She looked just as perfect as always and everything I'm not-beautiful, sexy body, glowing skin, bold and extremely wicked. Inside me,I wondered how someone with such an angelic build could manage to be so cruel and ruthless at the same time. “Hey sis, having another fight?” she asked with heavy sarcasm in her voice. Obviously, she had heard everything that transpired between Jacob and myself. “None of your business, it's my marriage and you have no rights to eavesdrop or make decisions about it” I fired back. “Little lamb,watch your tongue. Your place as a Luna here was definitely not on merit, if it wasn't for the fact that you're of royal blood who would have thought of you by now?” She replied with a mischievous grin on her face. By now, I began to boil with rage inside. To calm myself down, I got up and headed outside, but that enraged her the more. Before I could make a step, I felt a slap land on my back. I turned around and pushed her to the wall. She screamed as her head hit the hard tiled wall. Her shrill cry had attracted attention towards us, and soon I heard Jacob's footsteps coming towards us. “What's happening here?” He inquired as he glared at me suspiciously, his eyes filled with rage and disdain. Before I could say a word, Juliana immediately answered, “Honestly, I don't even know why she's jealous of me. She's accusing me of plotting to take her place as Luna”. Brainwashed and enraged, Jacob turned fully towards me, his eyes darkening fiercely as he made a steady approach towards my direction. “Why should you allow your jealousy get the better part of you? Why do you have to attack her? Is it her fault she is in a better position to be Luna than you?” I was so shocked that I stood rooted to the ground for minutes. Alpha Jacob must have really been mistaken. In a fit of anger, I rushed at Juliana once more, and without care for her wounds, I made to attack her a second time. Reading through my bloodlusted intentions, Jacob immediately read my movements and stopped me before I could get closer to Julianna. Fiercely, his strong arms encircled mine and he forcefully yanked me away as though I was worth nothing. He stood straight and his next words reeled me back. “I Alpha Jacob son of Alpha Swan and Luna Lola of the Starlit park reject you Caroline Ashton as my mate hereby stripping you of all the rights and privileges bestowed upon a Luna—” “You shouldn't do that” a voice echoed in the darkness.
