ELENA

The woman staring back at me from the mirror almost made me cry.

For the first time since I had gone to the office to recieve the news that I either had to choose between being an asshole that would take what I didn't deserve, and sacrificing five years just to clear my conscience, I felt my eyes start to water.

The past five days had to have been the most difficult days of my life yet, as I had literally passed through a whole phase in such a short time.

I had been forced to realize that the life I had chosen for myself was going to be different from the one I was now going to have.

Marriage.

It wasn't something that had been on my agenda, even in the next five years. I had made a lot of plans on how to live my carefree single life to the highest. Now though, I was going to waste all of it, fulfilling a contract that was supposed to have absolutely nothing to do with me.
