JAXON POV

I couldn't sleep.

It was 2:30 AM, and I was still lying awake in the dark, staring at the bright screen of my phone. The glow illuminated the high ceiling of my bedroom, but my eyes were locked on the image Secret Girl had sent an hour ago.

Her body in that sheer lace dress was driving me out of my mind.

I zoomed in on the photo, my thumb tracing the outline of her waist, her broad hips, and the soft curves she was so eager to hide from the world. The lace was so transparent that I could see right through the dark fabric. But as I enlarged the image near the top of her chest, my breath hitched.

Right above the sheer lace, nestled near the curve of her left breast, was a small, delicate tattoo of a dark red wildflower.

My breath caught in my throat. It was subtle, barely visible in the dim light, but tucked against her soft skin, it was breathtaking. A dark, dangerous curiosity burned through me. I didn't know who she was, but every single line of her body was becoming an obsession I couldn't control. I closed the photo and set the phone face-down on my chest, staring blindly at the dark ceiling.

By morning, the sheer lace dress and that small tattooed flower were still burned into my brain, putting me in a good mood.

I stood in the sunlit kitchen of the estate, leaning against the marble counter with a cold cup of black coffee. When Aria walked in wearing her usual baggy gray sweater, every bit of frustration from my sleepless night turned into pure venom.

"You're an absolute eyesore," I said, my voice dripping with ice as she reached for a glass of water.

She froze, her dark eyes snapping to mine. "Excuse me?"

"You heard me," I sneered, stepping closer until I was looming right over her. "Every single day I have to look at you and your greedy, gold-digging mother pretending to belong in my home. It makes me sick to my stomach. I am so irritated by your useless presence."

"Jaxon, stop," she whispered, her hands shaking around her glass.

"No, I won't stop," I spat, leaning down so my words burned right into her ear. "I hate you. I hate everything about you. Honestly, it would be a blessing if you and your mother just died and vanished off the face of the earth. You're worthless parasites."

Her face went pale, her lips trembling as if I had struck her across the face. She didn't say a word. She just set her glass down and walked out of the kitchen, her head bowed low.

A few hours later, the main hallway of Crestwood University was packed with students rushing between lectures.

I stood near the lockers with Blake and Chloe. When I saw Aria walking down the hallway alone, holding a heavy stack of textbooks, a cruel surge of energy spiked in my blood.

As she passed our group, I deliberately stuck my foot out.

Aria tripped hard, her books flying everywhere as she hit the linoleum floor with a loud, heavy thud. Her papers scattered across the hallway, sliding under the feet of laughing students.

"Watch where you're going, clutzy!" Chloe giggled, leaning into my arm.

"Yeah, Aria," I called out, my voice loud enough for the whole hallway to hear. "Try picking up your feet instead of dragging your heavy weight across the floor!"

A burst of cruel laughter erupted from the crowd. Aria sat on the cold floor, her cheeks burning bright red with agonizing shame. She quickly gathered her scattered books, refusing to look up at me, before scrambling to her feet and running down the hall toward the library.

Watching her run away gave me a dark rush of satisfaction, but deep down, a strange, sour knot tightened in my chest.

I pulled my phone from my leather jacket, stepping away from the crowd to check the screen. A new text from Secret Girl had arrived, replying to the morning message I had sent her earlier.

[Secret Girl]: Sorry for the late reply, Captain. My morning was completely ruined by my utter jerk of a stepbrother.

I smirked, my thumb flying across the keyboard.

[(310) 555-0149]: Your stepbrother? Did he try something stupid?

The typing bubble appeared instantly.

[Secret Girl]: He is a miserable, cruel bastard! I swear I hate him with every fiber of my being. He said the most awful things to me at home, and then he tripped me in front of the whole school today and made fun of me! I hope he rots in hell! I wish he would just drop dead!

I stared at the screen, reading her harsh, cursing words. A dry, amused chuckle escaped my lips. I loved how fiery she got when she was angry.

[(310) 555-0149]: Ouu sexy... I love it when you get mean, Secret Girl. Tell me more about how much you hate him.

[Secret Girl]: I'm serious! He's an arrogant, heartless prick who thinks he owns the world just because his dad has money!

Reading her anger, I felt a surge of possessive rage against this guy who was making my mystery girl cry. Whoever this stepbrother was, he was stepping way out of line.

[(310) 555-0149]: Honestly? What an absolute bastard. Who treats a girl like you like trash? He sounds like a pathetic coward picking on someone who actually has a heart.

[Secret Girl]: He really is! You have no idea how much pain he causes me every single day.

I leaned back against the lockers, my jaw tightening as I typed back, ready to handle the problem for her.

[(310) 555-0149]: Does this jerk go to the same university as us? Just give me his name, Secret Girl. Tell me who he is, and I swear I'll treat his fuck up personally.

I stared at the screen, waiting eagerly as the three typing dots flashed.

[(310) 555-0149]: Give me a name, baby. I promise you, I’m going to teach your stepbrother a lesson he’ll never forget.

Nothing happened last night."I spat the words out the moment Aria stepped into the sunlit kitchen, my voice dripping with as much icy venom as I could muster.I stood by the marble island, clad in my usual sharp black button-down and trousers, leaning casually against the counter with a steaming mug of black coffee in my hand. On the outside, I looked completely composed, relaxed, and in control. But on the inside, my mind was a chaotic mess.Every time I closed my eyes, I didn't see my cold, calculated plans or the image of my vintage Ducati. I saw Aria's soft dark eyes in the flash of lightning. I felt the steady, reassuring warmth of her hands wrapped around mine, guiding me out of the suffocating dark while I choked like a pathetic coward on the floor. It made my stomach twist in knots. I hated her for seeing me like that. I hated her even more for not using it against me.Aria froze near the doorway, her hand lingering on her backpack str

JAXON POV“What the hell was the meaning of that stunt you pulled out there today, Blake?!"I cornered Blake against the brick wall of the campus gymnasium, my hands gripping the collar of his athletic jacket so hard my knuckles turned white. The rain was pouring down around us, but I didn't care. My blood was boiling.Blake just laughed, casually pushing my hands off his jacket and smoothing down his shirt with a lazy, arrogant grin."Relax, Jax. I was just playing my part," Blake said smoothly, leaning against the wall. "To win your million-dollar bet and get that Ducati, I have to make her fall completely in love with me. And to do that, I needed to earn her absolute trust. Stepping in between you two in the library was the easiest way to make her think I'm her white knight.""I told you to break her heart, Reed, not steal my joy!" I snapped, my jaw locked tight as I glared at him. "I wanted to watch her kneel. I wanted to see her utterly humiliated on that floor for everyone to se

ARIA POV“Did she actually think a guy like Blake Reed would ever look at someone like her? What a desperate pig!"A sharp, cruel voice echoed across the crowded university hallway, shattering the last remaining pieces of my fragile confidence. The video playing on my phone screen wasn't just the clip of me on my knees in the library. Someone had maliciously edited it. Worse than that, they had warped it using obnoxious, humiliating video filters, adding giant cartoon clown tears to my face, sparkling gold coins raining down around me with every sob to mock my mother's marriage, and flashing text overlays calling me a “desperate gold-digger” and a “pathological slut trying to seduce Blake and cause a fight between two best friends.”The comments section was moving at a blinding, terrifying speed. Hundreds of students from across Crestwood University were tearing me apart piece by piece, accusing me of throwing myself at Blake just to climb social ladders."Look at her pretending she d

ARIA POV“Kneel down right now and apologize!" Jaxon's ruthless command echoed off the high ceiling of the library, sharp and cold as a blade.I stood frozen against the wooden bookshelf, my chest heaving in fast, shallow breaths. Dozens of students stood in a wide circle around us, their eyes glued to my trembling frame. Some were holding up their phones, recording, while others whispered and giggled behind their hands. The humiliation was so heavy, so thick, that it felt like an anchor pulling me straight down into the dirt.Kneel.My knees trembled violently. Tears of pure, agonizing shame spilled hot over my eyelashes, burning my cheeks. Every instinct inside me screamed at me to fight back, to throw my heavy textbooks at Jaxon's arrogant face, to scream until my lungs gave out.But then, sudden, painful memory flashes flooded my mind, shattering my courage.I could hear my mother’s harsh, shrill voice echoing in my head from years ago, cutting through my memory like glass: “You'r

Aria pov"Did... did the almighty Blake Reed just walk up to me?" I whispered under my breath, my hands trembling as I hugged my notebook tightly against my chest. My heart was doing violent backflips against my ribs. My cheeks felt like they were literally on fire, glowing a deep, unshakeable pink. I sat alone at the library table, staring at the empty chair across from me, completely unable to wipe the silly, giddy grin off my face."What on earth just happened?" I murmured to myself, leaning my hot forehead against the wooden table. "He walked up to the real me. Not the anonymous texter. Not a profile picture. He saw me sitting here, came over, and offered to tutor me!"It felt like a sweet, incredible dream. For months, I had been watching him from the top row of the ice rink, feeling completely invisible, convinced that a guy like Blake would never notice a girl like me. And now he noticed me. Oh my gosh!I took a few deep, shaky breaths, finally gathering my courage and my heavy

BLAKE POV“You've got to be kidding me," I breathed, my eyes wide as Jaxon threw back the heavy canvas sheet in the center of his private three-car garage.Sitting before us was the matte-black, custom 1969 vintage Ducati motorcycle. The polished chrome detail gleamed under the soft overhead lights, and the rich smell of leather, gasoline, and expensive polish filled the room. I had been begging Jaxon to sell me this exact bike since our freshman year, but the stubborn bastard had always refused, guarding it like a sacred family treasure.I looked from the motorcycle over to Jaxon, who was leaning casually against the hood of his sports car, sipping iced bourbon with a deadpan look on his face."I thought you were joking earlier, Jax," I said, a dry laugh escaping my throat. "You're really putting this on the line?""I never joke about something like this, Blake," Jaxon replied coldly, taking a slow sip of his drink. "Especially not with my precious bike."I stared at the sleek machin
