BLAKE POV

“You've got to be kidding me," I breathed, my eyes wide as Jaxon threw back the heavy canvas sheet in the center of his private three-car garage.

Sitting before us was the matte-black, custom 1969 vintage Ducati motorcycle. The polished chrome detail gleamed under the soft overhead lights, and the rich smell of leather, gasoline, and expensive polish filled the room. I had been begging Jaxon to sell me this exact bike since our freshman year, but the stubborn bastard had always refused, guarding it like a sacred family treasure.

I looked from the motorcycle over to Jaxon, who was leaning casually against the hood of his sports car, sipping iced bourbon with a deadpan look on his face.

"I thought you were joking earlier, Jax," I said, a dry laugh escaping my throat. "You're really putting this on the line?"

"I never joke about something like this, Blake," Jaxon replied coldly, taking a slow sip of his drink. "Especially not with my precious bike."

I stared at the sleek machine, my fingers itching to trace the leather handlebars. "So the deal from earlier stands? I make your stepsister fall madly in love with me before the Mid-Semester Gala, publicly humiliate her, and the Ducati is mine?"

"Plus one million dollars in cash from my personal fund," Jaxon added, his voice dropping to a sharp, low drawl. "You make Aria drop her walls completely around you, get her hooked, and then dump her in front of the whole school so hard she packs her bags and leaves Crestwood forever."

I let out a low chuckle, sliding my hands into my pockets. "And you're sure you won't mind me getting close to your stepsister? Touching her, taking her out, charming her?"

Jaxon’s gray eyes flashed with a sudden, lethal glare. A cold sneer touched his sculpted lips as he took a step forward.

"I don't care how you do it, Blake," Jaxon spat, his tone dripping with pure ice. "I have never considered Aria my family, and I never will. She and her gold-digger mother are parasites in my home. Break her however you want. Just get her out of my sight."

A confident, arrogant smirk spread across my face. "Consider it done, Jax."

By mid-afternoon, I was patrolling the ground floor of the Crestwood University library, ready to make my move.

It didn't take long to spot her. Aria was sitting alone at a small wooden corner table, completely buried behind thick stacks of Economics textbooks and loose notebook pages. She looked tiny behind that massive pile, drowning in her usual oversized gray sweater.

I smoothed down my blue athletic hoodie, ran a hand through my messy golden-brown hair, and flashed my best million-dollar smile, the exact look that usually had girls falling over themselves in the hallways.

I strolled over, pulling out the heavy wooden chair directly across from her and sliding into it without asking.

Aria gasped softly, her head snapping up in surprise. When her dark eyes met mine, she froze completely. The color drained from her face for a split second before a deep, burning blush rushed all the way up to her ears.

"Hey there," I said, keeping my voice smooth and warm. "Mind if I sit?"

"B-Blake?" she squeaked out, her hands trembling so hard she almost dropped her pen. "I... mean, hello. Yes. I mean, no, I don't mind."

I let out a soft, charming laugh, leaning my elbows on the table and looking directly into her eyes. "You looked like you were drowning in all these Economics books. I thought I’d come over and offer a rescue."

Aria stared at me like I was a ghost. Her knuckles turned white as she clutched her notebook to her chest. I could practically see the gears turning wildly inside her head.

"You... want to help me with Economics?" she asked, her voice filled with a giddy, dangerous kind of hope.

"Of course," I lied effortlessly, flashing a dimpled smile. "A pretty girl shouldn't have to suffer through Professor Thomas's brutal assignments all by herself. How about I tutor you? We can study together right here whenever you want."

Aria’s dark eyes lit up with absolute, blinding joy. A genuine, beautiful smile broke across her face, melting away all her defensive walls in an instant.

"I'd... I'd really like that, Blake," she whispered, her cheeks glowing bright pink. "Thank you."

"Anytime," I murmured, winking at her before standing up from the chair.

I turned and walked away, sliding my hands into my hoodie pockets with a triumphant, arrogant smirk spreading across my lips.

That was too easy, I thought to myself, glancing back one last time to see her hugging her notebook, totally thrilled, completely hooked, and utterly oblivious to the million-dollar trap closing in around her.

ARIA POV“Don't flatter yourself, Vance. Nothing happened last night."I spat the words out the moment Aria stepped into the sunlit kitchen, my voice dripping with as much icy venom as I could muster.I stood by the marble island, clad in my usual sharp black button-down and trousers, leaning casually against the counter with a steaming mug of black coffee in my hand. On the outside, I looked completely composed, relaxed, and in control. But on the inside, my mind was a chaotic mess.Every time I closed my eyes, I didn't see my cold, calculated plans or the image of my vintage Ducati. I saw Aria's soft dark eyes in the flash of lightning. I felt the steady, reassuring warmth of her hands wrapped around mine, guiding me out of the suffocating dark while I choked like a pathetic coward on the floor. It made my stomach twist in knots. I hated her for seeing me like that. I hated her even more for not using it against me.Aria froze near the doorway, her hand lingering on her backpack str

JAXON POV“What the hell was the meaning of that stunt you pulled out there today, Blake?!"I cornered Blake against the brick wall of the campus gymnasium, my hands gripping the collar of his athletic jacket so hard my knuckles turned white. The rain was pouring down around us, but I didn't care. My blood was boiling.Blake just laughed, casually pushing my hands off his jacket and smoothing down his shirt with a lazy, arrogant grin."Relax, Jax. I was just playing my part," Blake said smoothly, leaning against the wall. "To win your million-dollar bet and get that Ducati, I have to make her fall completely in love with me. And to do that, I needed to earn her absolute trust. Stepping in between you two in the library was the easiest way to make her think I'm her white knight.""I told you to break her heart, Reed, not steal my joy!" I snapped, my jaw locked tight as I glared at him. "I wanted to watch her kneel. I wanted to see her utterly humiliated on that floor for everyone to se

ARIA POV“Did she actually think a guy like Blake Reed would ever look at someone like her? What a desperate pig!"A sharp, cruel voice echoed across the crowded university hallway, shattering the last remaining pieces of my fragile confidence. The video playing on my phone screen wasn't just the clip of me on my knees in the library. Someone had maliciously edited it. Worse than that, they had warped it using obnoxious, humiliating video filters, adding giant cartoon clown tears to my face, sparkling gold coins raining down around me with every sob to mock my mother's marriage, and flashing text overlays calling me a “desperate gold-digger” and a “pathological slut trying to seduce Blake and cause a fight between two best friends.”The comments section was moving at a blinding, terrifying speed. Hundreds of students from across Crestwood University were tearing me apart piece by piece, accusing me of throwing myself at Blake just to climb social ladders."Look at her pretending she d

Jaxon's ruthless command echoed off the high ceiling of the library, sharp and cold as a blade.I stood frozen against the wooden bookshelf, my chest heaving in fast, shallow breaths. Dozens of students stood in a wide circle around us, their eyes glued to my trembling frame. Some were holding up their phones, recording, while others whispered and giggled behind their hands. The humiliation was so heavy, so thick, that it felt like an anchor pulling me straight down into the dirt.Kneel.My knees trembled violently. Tears of pure, agonizing shame spilled hot over my eyelashes, burning my cheeks. Every instinct inside me screamed at me to fight back, to throw my heavy textbooks at Jaxon's arrogant face, to scream until my lungs gave out.But then, sudden, painful memory flashes flooded my mind, shattering my courage.I could hear my mother’s harsh, shrill voice echoing in my head from years ago, cutting through my memory like glass: “You'r

I whispered under my breath, my hands trembling as I hugged my notebook tightly against my chest. My heart was doing violent backflips against my ribs. My cheeks felt like they were literally on fire, glowing a deep, unshakeable pink. I sat alone at the library table, staring at the empty chair across from me, completely unable to wipe the silly, giddy grin off my face."What on earth just happened?" I murmured to myself, leaning my hot forehead against the wooden table. "He walked up to the real me. Not the anonymous texter. Not a profile picture. He saw me sitting here, came over, and offered to tutor me!"It felt like a sweet, incredible dream.
