Chapter 3

Author: Spoiled Wolf
I chuckled.

"You've been seeing each other for so long, and you expect me to believe you that yesterday was your first time sleeping together?"

Jayson smirked in contempt. "That's because Amy values her chastity. She insisted on dating for a full year before giving it to me. Like I said, she's not a slut like you."

I steadied myself, stood up, and pointed at them accusingly. "Then, what about the intimacy we both shared as husband and wife over the past years?"

He quit his gentlemanly act and laid out all his cards on the table. "It just means I was using you as a tool to vent since I couldn't sleep with Amy. You already know the answer, don't you? What's the point of asking me for it again? You're just humiliating yourself."

I felt a sharp cramping in my lower abdomen, and I gagged again. The taste of the latte on my face turned extremely bitter as I said self-deprecatingly, "So, the nightgown and the tumbler—you only gave them to me because Amelia didn't want them, right?"

He didn't answer, so I assumed that I'd hit the nail on the head.

He just urged me without looking up again. "Hurry up and sign it."

I retrieved the divorce agreement from my bag and tore it to shreds. "Over my dead body! I will never let you both be together!"

Amelia brought out a stack of photos and slid them over to me with a smile on her face.

"I have proof of you cheating on Dr. Kaiser, Mrs. Kaiser. If you refuse to sign the papers, we don't mind taking you straight to court.

"And when that time comes, you're not just going to be divorced—you're not even going to own those five properties anymore."

I felt dizzy. I picked up the photos, but before I could even take a proper look at them, I passed out on the table.

…

When I woke up again, I realized that I was lying in a hospital bed.

A beam of light fell across Jayson's profile next to me, and for a moment, I thought I saw the young man who had saved me from despair ten years ago.

He handed me a bowl of warm chicken soup, his tone surprisingly cold as he said, "You haven't eaten all day, have you? Sign the papers after eating this. We'll each go our separate ways afterward."

I weakly took the chicken soup from him, my gaze flitting to the medical report lying on the bedside table. It clearly stated that I was four weeks pregnant.

My hand shook, and the warm soup spilled all over the sheets.

I grabbed the report with shaky hands, my breathing turning heavy and ragged. I checked the name and saw that it was my own. Sherry Abbott.

Suddenly, it all made sense. No wonder my period was two months late. No wonder my lower abdomen cramped whenever I got emotional.

I clutched at my stomach in the empty hospital room, railing against the unfairness of it all. My heart was literally torn with anguish.

"Why! Why now, of all times! Why?"

Jayson let out a scornful, derisive laugh. "What, you were afraid that I would find out you were pregnant with that bastard's baby?"

"There's no other man! This baby is yours! I don't have a lover! You're the only one I've ever slept with!" I exclaimed.

However, his only response was tossing a new divorce agreement at me. "Those five properties are gone now. You're leaving with nothing. But if you're not happy with it, we can go to court instead."

"Jayson… This really is your baby," I said again.

"You're hilarious," he replied. "You've always been afraid of giving birth and told me that you never wanted to be a mother. I even agreed to that. And we've been careful to always wear protection. How could it possibly be mine?"

Then, he stuffed the pen into my hand. "Sign the agreement now. Don't make me repeat myself."

I fought back the pain in my abdomen and explained again with red-rimmed eyes, "It's because I thought things through and thought of surprising you with a baby! I've been poking holes in the condoms over the past three months!"

Yet, he still shook his head and sneered. "That's just ridiculous."

He then retrieved the stack of photos from his pocket and slapped my face with them. "The evidence is all here. What more do you have to say for yourself?"

I stared at the photos and was shocked.

They were photos of me acting intimately with a man. He was smiling very happily as he hugged me in the photos. There were even photos of us kissing.

The photos showed us wearing five different outfits, implying that we'd seen each other at least five times.

Amelia suddenly walked into the hospital room and said in a soft, gentle voice. "Mrs. Kaiser, I hadn't originally intended to show the photos to Dr. Kaiser. I wanted to spare you some embarrassment. But since you were so adamant about not signing the divorce papers, I really had no other choice."

"No," I told Jayson firmly. "Why didn't you think that something like this would happen the moment you blocked me and my number on every platform?"Jayson frowned harder. "Weren't you the one who blocked me?"He turned and saw Amelia walking out of the courthouse. He marched up to her at once and delivered her a tight slap across the face."You fucking bitch! How many times have you lied to me?"Amelia burst into tears and screamed, "Dr. Kaiser, I only lied to you because I loved you too much! I faked the medical records because I wanted to get pregnant with your baby during that time! I wanted you to get your divorce papers without a hitch! Everything I did was out of love for you!"Jayson laughed like he'd just lost his mind. He wanted nothing more than to punch himself to death for being such an idiot. He suddenly spun around and pulled me into his arms, begging fervently, "Sherry, please, we were together for ten years. Can't you please give me a chance to make things up to y

Jayson's clenched fists relaxed. He first glanced at me, then at Amelia. He shot another look at the defense attorney, then gritted his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut.Upon receiving the signal from Jayson, the defense attorney spoke up and said, "The plaintiff's evidence is extensive, but how can it be proven that the chat logs weren't fabricated?"I snorted coldly and produced the final stack of printed documents."Here, let me digress for a moment. Amelia, would you care to explain the reason for your hymenoplasty? Was it so that my then-husband would divorce me and therefore be available to take responsibility for your pregnancy?"Amelia's face darkened at once.Meanwhile, Jayson's eyes shot wide open as he stared incredulously at the papers in my hand. His eyes turned bloodshot as he furiously demanded an explanation from Amelia."You lied to me?""I never did!""Then how do you explain those documents?" he shot back, pointing at me shakily."S-She forged it all!"Rile

At exactly 8:00 am on the 8th of the following month, I arrived at the courthouse entrance right on time.Jayson was wearing a crisp white shirt, with Amelia standing on his right, dressed in a loose-fitting white maxi dress. He was momentarily stunned when he saw me, as though he hadn't expected me to be dressed so elegantly. He walked straight into the courthouse and spoke to me in a commanding tone, "Let's get the divorce done quickly."The moment I stepped into the building, tears involuntarily welled up in my eyes and rolled down my cheeks. The last time I'd done paperwork like this with him was seven years ago. At that time, Jayson had eagerly pulled me inside while exclaiming in excitement, "Sherry! Oh my god, Sherry, are we getting married for real? Are we really getting married?"Oh my god, I'm so happy! It still feels so unreal to me! Am I dreaming? Are you sure I'm not dreaming? Sherry!"Back then, I'd only just smiled and chuckled along happily with him, gently teasin

"What AI photos? What about smearing you?" Jayson shot back. "What the hell are you talking about?"I sneered coldly. "You saw the court summons, didn't you? Why are you still playing dumb with me?"Before I could continue, Jayson's phone rang. Amelia's saccharinely sweet voice appeared on the other end of the line."Dr. Kaiser… I… I feel really ill… Can you please send me to the hospital?"Jayson immediately abandoned me on the road and rushed back into the villa without another word. But before he left, he said, "Remember to drop the case against Amy. All she did was snap photos of you cheating on me. You'll never win the lawsuit against us."It wasn't until then that I was sure he still hadn't read the court summons after all.I gritted my teeth and got back onto my feet before painfully hobbling back into the villa and up the front porch steps. But before I'd even reached the door, I saw Jayson coming out, carrying a visibly distressed Amelia in his arms.He didn't even give

Once the observation period was over, I was discharged from the hospital and prepared to go back to the villa, pack my bags, and move out.But before I could even step through the door, I caught sight of our wedding portrait sitting outside at the curb, being discarded like it was trash.I felt a sharp pang in my heart when I saw Jayson's beaming smile in the photo. But still, things had changed, and our relationship was unsalvageable now. It was just as well that it was now being thrown out. After keying in the passcode to the lock and entering the villa, I heard the unmistakable, sordid, lewd sounds of a man and a woman panting in the bedroom.I glanced around the living room and saw that every photo of Jayson and me had already been removed. It was clear that he was in a great hurry to break every tie he had with me.As the filthy sounds continued playing in the background, I opened my suitcase and began packing my things. However, when I went to retrieve my parents' memorial p

I felt my heart lurch painfully. I quickly grabbed Jayson's shirt hem and tried to explain myself."I don't even know who this man is, Jayson!""I don't want to hear any of your bullshit," he replied, picking at his ear with his little finger before cutting me off with an irritated look. "You can refuse to sign the papers. I'll just take you to court. We'll end up wasting each other's time, but the outcome will still be the same in the end."The problem is that you're a pregnant woman now, and I don't think you can afford to drag this out. Don't you think so?"The cramping in my abdomen intensified, and my heart throbbed in pain. After a few seconds of silence, I said hoarsely, "You're right. I can't afford to drag it out."I ended up signing the papers. When he took the papers from me, he tossed me a bank card and said, "You kept me company for ten years, so here's five million dollars. That should be more than enough for you to spend in a lifetime."It was hilarious. I'd given
