I called the Medical Examiner by six am.

I needed answers and I need them now. Standing in her office and waiting for her to arrive, I began thinking about the many different ways that they may want to use Gomez to get to me.

He was my assistant and anybody who knew me knew that. But Roman said that the person who had done this didn't want Gomez to be an obstacle to him getting on the throne so I was so confused.

Gomez didn't have any access to the throne. Even if I died, Elinna would take over until Chase was old enough to rule.

The only chance that Gomez would get to rule is if my entire family died. But they had gone for Gomez first as if he was the important one in the mix.

I just couldn't understand it.

As soon as I got off the phone with Roman in the morning, I'd called Alex to tell him to make sure that there were guards at the front door of Gomez's room. No one was to go in or out except the doctor that we all knew.
