I heard everything. Everything her mother had said to her, because I had been standing outside the door.

I'd eventually summoned up the courage to come see her before I stepped out for my meeting because I knew she was going through a lot and I knew that she had gone through so much just because of what I had said and done to her. She didn't deserve this.
