Chapter 05

Chapter five

Maeve

It had been months since I married Arthur and moved into the Blood Moon pack house. I had never loved such a luxurious life before. I got everything I wanted when I wanted it, I never had to do any work because there were always people to do it for me.

The best part of it all was that Arthur treated me with respect and cordiality. We had just decided to try to live peacefully. He was as friendly as he could be and talked to me and took me out whenever he could.

Even though I didn't love Arthur, I had taken a liking to him. Any normal person would. He was kind and handsome and rich. He provided for my needs without any problems. But even though he did all these things, I knew his heart was not with me. He sometimes went out and wouldn't return till the next day. He was already so nice to me, so I didn't want to push my luck by asking questions that didn't concern me.

The Alpha of the Blood Moon pack, Kevin was also a very nice man. He treated me like his own daughter and made sure I was comfortable in the house. He would sometimes sit beside me and spend sometime talking to me, asking me about my life and all. He really made me happy. He was a better parent than my own parents.

I was currently in the green house at the backyard. I had taken a liking to it as I didn't have anything else to do normally, so that was where I spent most of my time during the day. I had learnt how to plant and properly take care of plants there. I was in the process of moving a flower pot when I heard someone harshly whisper my name. The weird thing was that the person called my real name and not Hazel's.

I turned around to check, but when I didn't see anyone, I shrugged and continued what I was doing. I heard the harsh whisper of my name again and I turned around again, but this time I waited for a long while bit I still didn't see anyone. I decided I wouldn't turn back anymore, maybe I was hearing things or someone was playing with me, until suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder and I screamed and dropped the flower pot on the ground.

The person covered my mouth while I struggled against them, but they held me tightly, until I really heard their voice talk in my ear and my eyes widened. I forcefully got myself out of their grip and turned to them.

Standing in front of me was Hazel in an all balck attire and a hoodie over her face. She pushed her hands into her hoodie's pockets as she leaned on one leg, her eyes scanning me from head to toe.

"Hazel? What are you doing here? How did you get here? When did you even get back?" I rambled on.

"Calm down with all the questions, Maeve." She rolled her eyes.

"But how? How is you get here?"

"Well, I walked took the bus from our pack and walked with my two legs here when I got off the bus." She replied sassily.

"No, I mean. I thought you ran away? When did you get back? Why did you even run away in the first place?"

"Well, I ran away because I didn't want to marry a man I didn't know or love. I came back because I realized my mistake. I went home and asked for our parent's forgiveness, and they forgave me." She shrugged.

"But wait, how did you get in here, what if someone had seen you? Do you know how much risk you put the both of us, our parents and our pack in? None of them know that we're twins and that I took your place."

"Actually, that's why I'm here. When I came back, I talked to mom and dad and told them of my plans, and they agreed, saying it would be best as it was always my position in the first place and also so that no one would find out."

"What plans are those?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"Well, I think you should go back home, so that I can take my place as Arthur's wife." She said smiling as if she hadn't just said something that didn't make sense.

I let out a dry laugh. "What did you just say?"

"I said, you can return to the pack now, because I'm here to take my place." She repeated and I started laughing.

I laughed for so long, that it turned to a cackle. Hazel watched me with a confused look on her face. She waited till I was done laughing before speaking again.

"Did I say something funny? Why are you laughing?"

"Yes, you totally said something funny. How cam you think that I would live my husband for you? I took up the burden for the family when you ran away like a chicken, throwing my life and everything I had planned for myself away. And now you're back here telling me that you want to take back your position, dream on" I said walking away from where she was.

"What do you mean, Maeve? I'm grateful that you decided to take my place as my sister, so that is why I'm back to relieve you of it, so you can live your life the way you wanted it."

I turned to her and stared at her. My whole life had been a living hell because of her and here she was acting like we were close and she had been a true sis ter to me all my life. Thinking about that cementedy decision.

"Well, I'm sorry to inform you that I am not and never will be interested in your offer, so it would be best if you leave."
