Chapter seven
Maeve
I stared at Arthur, wondering if he was just joking or if he was being serious. He sat in front of me on the chair and I really couldn't tell what was going on in his mind.
He looked serious, but at the same time, he didn't seem sure of himself. I looked at him for a while before speaking.
"What do you mean, Arthur?" I frowned. "I really don't understand what you're saying."
Arthur sighed as he stood up from the chair, running his fingers through his hair.
"I really don't know, Hazel. This marriage was forced on me. It isn't what I want for myself. Before I got married to you, I was dating someone that I love very much, and I am not ready to leave them for any reason." I stared at him in disbelief.
"You seemed to have forgotten that this marriage was forced on me too. You're not the only one in the situation, so you don't get to choose what I do and what I don't." I said, still calm. "For crying out loud, Arthur. Are you even thinking?"
"I am, Hazel. All I know is that I don't have any to be with you. I could easily have waited till that day and just dump you, but I chose to tell you so that it won't catch you by surprise, but you're starting to see it the wrong way." He tried to explain, but I wasn't having it.
"How does that make anything better? I'm still the one who ends up divorced, I'm still the one who ends up being thrown out while you enjoy the rest of your life with another woman. I'm still the one that goes back to my parents after you've divorced me, to tell them what?" I asked him, actually waiting for an answer.
"Do you have any idea how embarrassing that will be for me and my family? I'd turn into a joke, something to laugh at in my pack, and that is definitely not what I want." I let him know. "So you can take your stupid notice and shove it up your own ass."
"Hazel, I really don't want this to turn into something that we both don't want. I do not love you, you have to understand that. I was just being nice to you because we were put in this together. This sham of a marriage is going to end immediately my father dies."
I narrowed my eyes at him as he spoke. Arthur really sounded crazy. He even looked forward to his own father's death because of a woman. Even though we had been arranged to marry, I expected that our chemistry would grow with time, and we would end up falling in love or we would at least come to a mutual understanding of some sort to treat each other fairly, but it seemed he had other things in mind.
I might also have had a lover outside, he didn't know that. He didn't know what I had to sacrifice to get married to him, and even after that, I was still willing to live in peace. For Pete's sake I had to take my sister's place after she ran away from him.
I could have easily done the same, but I chose not to. I was happy when I found out that he was the one I was going to get married to because he seemed reasonable. I even rejected Hazel's offered to take back her place because I thought I had finally found a better life.
"I never said that you were in love with me, Arthur. I'm just being a civilized human being, who cares about other people's feelings and not a person who has a whiny bitch bugging me."
I knew he had a lover even though I hadn't seen her before. I knew she might have been close to me at some point, I just didn't know who she was.
"What did you just say?" Arthur turned to me, his eyes looking extremely angry.
I could already feel his fury, but I didn't care he was being I sensitive to me, so I would do the very same.
I stood up from the bed and walked to him. "You heard what I said, Arthur. Stop trying to act like you're doing this all on your own. It's obvious that there's a bitch. You weren't like this yesterday and all of a sudden, you expect me to believe that you came up with this on your own."
"Stop calling her a bitch!!" He shouted in my face.
"I'll call her whatever the hell u want, Arthur. You have no right over me. I used to respect you before, but that's all gone now. You're just a puppet that's being played with and even you don't see it."
The rage in his eyes only got worse as he made to catch me, but I was fast enough to dodge.
"What the hell do you think you're doing? Don't even think about it or the entire pack and your father will hear about what you just told me." I smirked.
I moved away from him and strutted to the window. I was really tired of people tossing me around and making decisions for me all my life. My parents had tossed me around and did as they liked to me and I never uttered a word of protest. All the people in the pack looked down on me because of who I was and I never protested.
Now I was out of my parent's house and the pack. I wasn't going to let it continue that way. Even if he didn't know that I wasn't who I claimed it be, that didn't give him any right to treat me like a toy.
I looked outside for a while before turning back to Arthur who had sat down and was rubbing his hand on his forehead, obviously frustrated. I laughed a little before moving back to him.
"You're an alpha, Arthur, not anyone's little bitch. You should be able to make decisions for yourself. You're going to be the next alpha of this pack. Your people need a man who can make decisions for them, not a man who listens to everything a woman says." I stand up straight and go back to the bed.
"You're were really even waiting for your own father's death because you want to get married to another woman. Pathetic." I scoffed.
"I've had enough of your insults for one day, Hazel. You do not talk to me in that manner, don't forget that I am your husband and alpha." He stood up from the chair and towered over me.
"Alpha my foot." I scoffed and looked away, and just as he was about to say something else, a knock came to the door.
We both stared at each other and then at the door before Arthur moved back and I stood up from the bed to go answer the door. I opened it to see his father standing there. I winced, wondering if he had heard what we were saying.
"Hello, alpha. So nice to see you. Waht brings you here?" I asked him with a nervous smile on my face.
"Hello, Hazel. I hope you've had a fine day?" He said as he stepped into the room.
I shut the door behind him and answered.
"Yes, alpha. What brings you here?" I asked again.
"I just heard shouting while I was in the hallway, so I wanted it come and check what the problem was." He said and turned to Arthur. "The both of you are just a few months into your marriage and you're already fighting like this. What could be the problem?" He asked, looking between the two of us.
Arthur looked at me, his eyes wide. I had threatened to expose him to his father, so he was scared that I would actually do it.
"It's nothing, alpha. Arthur was just disagreeing with me in something, that's all." I said with a sweet smile on my face, Arthur clenched his jaw.
"Are you sure it's nothing serious, Hazel?" He asked, looking sternly at Arthur.
"I'm sure, alpha. It really nothing. It's just a normal couple's banter. Isn't that right, Arthur?" I asked him, raising an eyebrow at him as he stared at me.
"Yes, father. It nothing serious. Well resolve it in no time."
"Okay." Alpha nodded. "If you say so." He said and started walking out of the room.
"But no more arguing." He said as he opened the door.
"Yes, alpha." I said to him as he pulled the door shut.
I smirked at Arthur before retaking my place on the bed.
"You should thank me for not saying anything." I said and his eyes shot daggers at me and I burst out laughing.
"Go to hell, you witch. I'll make sure I get what I want, no matter what it takes." He said and walked towards the door.
He slammed it shut behind him as I smirked.
There is absolutely no way that I am going to give you what you want, Arthur.
Chapter eightMaeveThe Silver Stone pack had been preparing for the annual celebration of the Moon goddess for a while and everyone was excited about it. The whole pack had been decorated and the place looked really beautiful.I was excited for the ceremony because there was going to be a lot of food and drinks. Alpha Damien had made sure the ceremony would be the best of it's kind.As for Arthur, he had been avoiding me since the argument we had the other day and I had absolutely no problem with it, as long as he didn't go through with what he said, them we would have no problems. Through out the preparation process, I had noticed a particular woman hovering around him, so I could quickly tell that she was the girl he had been talking about. I pretended to be nonchalant about it whenever he was around, but what he had said really hurt me. It hurt to think that I was the only one that had started falling in love. Yeah, I finally said it. I had finally said it. I had been denying i
Chapter nineMaeveArthur and I stood facing each other, while his mistress stood beside, a frown on her face."What the hell did the two of you just say?" She said, her annoying voice ringing in my ear.We both ignored her as we stared straight into each other's eyes, the whole world melting around us. Never would I have imagined that Arthur around end up being my mate, not after everything that had happened between us. A part of me felt happy, while the other felt sad, but majority of me was happy. I stared into his eyes, happy to have finally found my mate. "Arthur!!!" The whiny bitch exclaimed and pulled him back, bursting our little bubble. I glared at her, wondering what her problem was. Just then, the gravity of what just happened dawned on me. Arthur that I had been simping for, the same Arthur that I had a crush on was my mate.I shook my head, trying to see if I was actually dreaming, but I wasn't. He would have no choice but to accept me now that we were mates. He would
Chapter tenHazelI had managed to sneak into the Silver Moon pack unnoticed. I wanted to be able to study Maeve and Arthur, so that I would know the best way to get Maeve out of the house and take her place. How dare she think that she would take my place and not give it back to me? As far as I was concerned, Maeve was the most self centering person I had ever met. I begged her to leave, so that I could take my rightful place, but the bitch refused to because she seemed to be enjoying a luxurious life. I had to do something to get her out of the house.I was watching Maeve when I noticed her acting weird and walking as if she was following a scent. I frowned and followed her to she her walk u to a corner. Standing afar off was Arthur with another woman and Maeve walked towards them and it seemed like Arthur was her mate. I was shocked when I heard it. I was just about to give up and start going home when I saw Arthur push her away. I was confused as I couldn't really hear what th
Chapter elevenHazelI followed behind Alpha Damien as he stomped angrily towards what seemed to be Arthur's room. I smirked, loving how my plan was working perfectly. We got to the door and the Alpha knocked. After a while, Arthur came to the door and opened it. The minute he saw me, he gasped and stumbled back. It was as if he had seen a ghost. I tried to hold my laughter at the look on his face. If it was another situation, I would have laughed out really loud."Why are you looking at her like that?" Alpha Damien asked him."You….. I thought you said that you were going to leave and never return." He said, still shocked."What? Is that what happened?" Alpha Damien turned to me. "Yes, Alpha." I sobbed. "He told me that there was nothing I could do to seperate him and his mistress, and that he was going to divorce me in the end, so made the decision to leave while I still had my dignity." I said."The only reason why I came back was because I thought of how nice you had been to me
Chapter twelveHazelThe argument between father and son was becoming more and more interesting by the moment. They were currently having a stare off after Alpha Damien had told Arthur that he would not make him alpha and banish Zoey. "So, what is your choice?" Alpha Damien asked.Arthur was quiet for a while, thinking about the options that he had. I could tell that he really didn't want to leave his position as the next alpha. "Give me an answer!!" Alpha Damien growled."I'll do what you want!!" Arthur shouted and I smirked.Finally."I thought so. Take her back as your wife and accept her. If she complains to me one more time or I hear that you've been close to that brat, I won't hesitate to do what I want, just like you." He said and walked away, leaving the two of us alone.Arthur glared at me after Alpha Damien couldn't be seen anymore. He looked at me with so much contempt, but I just laughed."I hate you so much." He growled and I scoffed."Just exactly who is supposed to ha
Chapter thirteenMaeveI stared blankly out of the window of the bus I was in as the trees were going by in a flash. I basically looked like a zombie, because I had cried so much that my eyes were permanently swollen, I hadn't eaten for days, so I had lost some weight on me.I had been traveling for weeks since I left the Silver Moon pack. I had to get away from everyone and everything. I couldn't handle the hatred and disdain that everyone felt towards me. I felt so worthless after Arthur had rejected me. I never knew how special it felt to find your mate and know that the Moon goddess had made someone special just for you, until I felt that connection with Arthur. It felt unlike anything I had ever felt, but the moment he rejected me for Zoey, it hurt more than I could ever have imagined. I vowed that I would never return and even if I ever did, I would I would get my revenge on all the people that had made my life miserable no matter what. But for now, I needed to start a new lif
Chapter fourteenMaeveI followed behind the man as he led me down a path, away from the lake with some of the warriors following us. Even though he had said that he was going to be fair in judging me, I was still scared. I didn't go all the way just to end up dying."What is your name?" He asked me and I cleared my throat before answering."It's Maeve." I said and he nodded."So, Maeve, what pack are you from?" I didn't know of I should tell him where I truly was from or Arthur's pack. I really didn't want to start explaining my story to anyone, so I just decided to tell him about my birth pack."I am from a pack in the Northern regions. The Night Shadow pack." I said and he hummed."Wow, that's quite far away." He said and I swallowed. "Anything you would like to share?" He asked me and I looked away.I had to tell him something. A wolf wouldn't just leave their pack and take refuge in another for no reason. I couldn't tell him what happened with Arthur, so I would just use my pare
Chapter fifteenMaeveIt was the next day and I was preparing for the iniciation ceremony. Alpha Devon had gotten me a dress to wear for the ceremony. It was a short white dress with studs on it. It was really beautiful. They had prepared a small gathering with just a few people present. The pack preist was present and Alpha Devon was standing beside him while I knelt in front of the both of them with my hand placed on my chest."Do you swear to protect and defend this pack as it's member anywhere you go?" The priest asked."Yes, I do.""Do you pledge allegiance to Alpha Devon and name him as you one and only true alpha, to stand by him and this pack?""Yes, I do.""What part of society would you like to be a part of?" He asked and I looked around, thinking."I would like to be a warrior of the pack. To train to be the strongest and protect the pack and it's leader." I said and he nodded."Can the leader of the warriors step up?" He said and the leader stepped up."Stretch forth your
