Chapter fourteen

Maeve

I followed behind the man as he led me down a path, away from the lake with some of the warriors following us. Even though he had said that he was going to be fair in judging me, I was still scared. I didn't go all the way just to end up dying.

"What is your name?" He asked me and I cleared my throat before answering.

"It's Maeve." I said and he nodded.

"So, Maeve, what pack are you from?"

I didn't know of I should tell him where I truly was from or Arthur's pack. I really didn't want to start explaining my story to anyone, so I just decided to tell him about my birth pack.

"I am from a pack in the Northern regions. The Night Shadow pack." I said and he hummed.

"Wow, that's quite far away." He said and I swallowed. "Anything you would like to share?" He asked me and I looked away.

I had to tell him something. A wolf wouldn't just leave their pack and take refuge in another for no reason. I couldn't tell him what happened with Arthur, so I would just use my pare
