Sara’s POV

He led me to his office and closed the door behind us. His demeanor was serious, and I could feel the tension in the air, making me anxious about what he was about to say.

"I need to make something clear," Zack began, his tone brusque and his eyes piercing into mine. "I don't trust Jane. I don't want you getting close to her. She's known to gossip, and I can't risk her finding out about our arrangement."

I nodded, understanding the gravity of his words. Jane had always seemed overly curious, and I didn't need her prying into our business. "I understand. I'll keep my distance."

"Good," he replied, his gaze unwavering. "And remember, you are not to mention our contract marriage to anyone. Not even in passing."

"Of course," I said, trying to reassure him. "I wouldn't do that."

He seemed to relax slightly, but his eyes still held a hint of suspicion. "There's one more thing. From now on, you'll be my new personal assistant. We'll be working closely together."

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter thirty four

Sara’s POV Days turned into weeks, and slowly, the tension between Zack and I began to ease. Our conversations grew longer and less strained. We started to talk about more than just work or obligations, finding common ground in shared interests and experiences. The hurtful words and angry outbursts became fewer, replaced by tentative smiles and gentle touches. One morning, as we prepared to head to work, there was a sense of normalcy that felt almost foreign after the chaos of the previous months. Zack and I left the house together, our interactions more relaxed and genuine. "Ready for another day?" Zack asked as we walked to the car. "As ready as I'll ever be," I replied with a small smile. We drove to the office in comfortable silence, the city waking up around us. When we arrived, we took the elevator up to our office floor. As we stood side by side in the elevator, the sudden jolt of it stopping mid-floor caught us both by surprise. "Oh no," I whispered, my heart p

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter thirty three

Sara’s POV Zack's arrival back home was delayed, and when he finally stumbled through the door, it was clear he had been drinking heavily. His shirt was untucked, and his usually sharp gaze was unfocused. "Zack?" I called out from the kitchen, hearing his unsteady footsteps. "Are you okay?" I had left the room to get something from the kitchen. "Just peachy," he mumbled, nearly tripping over the rug as he made his way towards the stairs. "Where's my lovely wife?" "I'm here," I said, stepping into the hallway. "We need to talk." He turned to face me, a bitter smile playing on his lips. "Talk? About what? How you embarrassed me at the party?" "Embarrassed you?" I repeated, stunned. "Derick was the one—" "Derick was doing what he thought you wanted," Zack snapped, his voice rising. "You looked pretty cozy with him." I took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "I wasn't cozy with him. He was harassing me, Zack." "And you couldn't handle it?" he challenged, stepping c

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter thirty two

Sara’s POV The party was in full swing, the grand ballroom buzzing with the chatter of high-profile guests. Zack's grandfather had outdone himself with the event, ensuring that every detail was perfect. The decorations were opulent, with towering floral arrangements and glittering chandeliers casting a warm glow over the room. A live orchestra played soft music, setting the mood for the evening. Zack had been by my side for most of the night, introducing me to various business associates and friends. His presence was reassuring, and I felt more comfortable navigating the social minefield of the event. However, as the evening progressed, Zack excused himself to speak with a group of important investors. "I'll be back soon," he said, giving my hand a squeeze before disappearing into the crowd. I stood near the edge of the ballroom, sipping my drink and trying to blend in. It was the first time this night I was alone, and I felt a bit vulnerable. That's when I saw Derick appro

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter thirty one

Sara’s POV After the confrontation at the mall, and the conversation we had after, Zack and I found a new rhythm. His apologies were genuine, and for the first time, I felt like we were moving forward together. Conversations that once felt forced now flowed naturally, and the walls between us began to crumble. Our mornings started with coffee together, a simple yet meaningful ritual. One morning, as we sat at the breakfast table, Zack looked up from his newspaper and asked, "Sara, what do you think about the new project at work?" Surprised by the question, I paused. "Which project?" "The merger with the international firm," he said, setting down his paper and giving me his full attention. I took a sip of my coffee, considering my response. "I think it's a great opportunity for growth. The international exposure could be beneficial for both companies." Zack nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "I agree. I'm glad you see it that way." Our conversations extende

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter thirty

Sara’s POV Days turned into weeks, and the atmosphere between Zack and me began to thaw. Our interactions, once marked by tense silences and cold shoulders, started to show signs of warmth, albeit small and infrequent. Each morning began with tentative attempts at conversation. At first, it was awkward and forced, but gradually, we found common ground. It started with the little things. Over breakfast, we'd talk about our schedules for the day. "So, what's on your agenda today?" Zack asked one morning, breaking the silence that had settled over our shared meal. I looked up, surprised by the question. "Um, just the usual. Sorting documents, paperwork. Nothing too exciting," I replied, trying to keep my tone casual. He nodded, taking a sip of his coffee. "We’ve got a meeting with the board. Should be interesting." "Good luck with that," I said, offering a small smile. "Thanks," he replied, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. These small exchanges

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter twenty nine

Sara’s POV The intensity of Zack’s kiss was overwhelming, I responded in kind, but just as quickly as it began, I pushed him away, my hands trembling with a mix of confusion and anger. "One minute you’re kissing me, and the next minute you’re distancing yourself," I said, my voice shaking. "What do you want from me, Zack?" He stepped back, his expression flat. "It was a mistake," he said coldly. "It won’t happen again." His words hit me like a punch to the gut. I felt tears welling up in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall in front of him. Instead, I turned away, my heart breaking. "Fine," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "I won’t let you affect me again." Zack didn’t react. "Sara, this is just business." I spun around, my anger flaring. "Really? Because it sure seems like you’re enjoying watching me suffer. This is just business but you’re kissing me when there’s no outsider here." Zack’s face remained impassive. "This marriage is a business arrangement, not
