Chapter 4

Author: Ferrari
Three days later, a video suddenly went viral amongst the pack.

The video was blurry and shaky. The setting was a dark alley, littered with trash in every corner. The outline of the Northside Palace spire could be seen in the far distance of the video's background.

In the video, a she-wolf with a figure that looked exactly like mine was being surrounded by a pack of Rouges. Her back was to the video, and her long hair hung down from her shoulders.

There was also a tear in the shirt she was wearing that exposed her shoulder, bearing a crescent moon-shaped birthmark that looked exactly like the one on my nape.

The Rogues were laughing loudly and mockingly at her, and one of them even reached out to caress the she-wolf's face. When she struggled, they got even rougher with her. Her moans and cries could be heard throughout the video, along with the Rogues' filthy jeers and laughter.

The video only lasted 30 seconds, but it ended with a close-up of the birthmark on her shoulder.

Everyone in the pack knew about the crescent moon-shaped birthmark on the back of my neck. Alonso had even once said that I was a gift that the Moon Goddess had bestowed upon him because of it.

So, every single wolf in the Northside Kingdom recognized that birthmark immediately.

The video was titled in red, "The Licentious Omega's Rendezvous with the Rogues".

Overnight, I had suddenly turned from the poor Omega abandoned by her Alpha into the laughingstock of the Northside Kingdom.

The pack exploded with comments against me.

"I've disliked her for a really long time! She can't even transform, so why does she think that she's worthy of being the Alpha's Luna?"

"I heard that she used the forbidden spell to save Alonso in the past. This is her retribution!"

"Omegas like her should be exiled from the pack! She's such a disgrace to the Northside!"

"I heard that she's suffering from Wilting Wolf syndrome and is about to die. The Moon Goddess upholds justice after all!"

"Is that for real? That's so gratifying to hear!"

"But did you guys notice that she's got a really nice body…"

I sat by the window of my old house, listening to Lucy fill me in on the incident.

She stood behind me and slammed her fist against the windowsill in anger.

"I've already checked the IP address of the first wolf who circulated the video. Hailey was the one who got someone else to do it! She might have used triple encryption, but my former classmate is a techie who hacked it in a flash.

"I can't believe that bitch went so far as to slander you!"

I didn't say anything as I continued reading the comments.

More and more people were commenting on the video; all their remarks were vicious, sarcastic, and biting. They felt like claws trying to drag me into the depths of a bottomless abyss.

Surprisingly, however, I didn't feel angry or upset by them.

I just felt exhausted.

"Say something, Grace," Lucy said, holding my hands. "Yell at them, scream at them if you need to. Don't keep holding it all in like this."

"But what should I say?" I asked quietly. "That it was fake? That I was being framed?

"They would never believe me," I continued. "They only want to believe what they want to believe. They want to paint me as an incapacitated, useless Omega, a filthy, cheating partner, and a pathetic loser who deserved to be abandoned."

The door suddenly slammed open just then.

Alonso stood there with an angry expression on his face.

He exuded a violent, oppressive aura, and I could even see visible ripples in the air that nearly knocked me off my feet.

His eyes were bloodshot, making him look like a beast that was on the verge of going on a rampage. He clutched a deformed phone in his hand, its metallic case creaking under the weight of his grip.

"Explain," he spat, his voice as rough as sandpaper.

I answered calmly, "There's nothing to explain. You've already made your judgment, haven't you?"

"I want to hear it straight from your mouth!" Alonso growled, rushing up to me and grabbing me by my wrist. "It wasn't you in the video, was it! Tell me that it's fake!"

I lifted my eyes and looked at him quietly.

"If it is fake, then what are you going to do about it?" I asked him in response.

"Would you clear my name? Would you stand before all the wolves in the pack and tell them that your fated mate was framed?

"Would you fight against all the vicious comments for my sake?"

Alonso and Lucy had the most intense fight of their lives after my passing, and it was all because of my belongings. He wanted to take them with him, but Lucy wouldn't agree.Alonso was furious."Lucy Hallworth! Do you know who you are talking to?""Who am I talking to? Of course! You're the piece of trash who chose to believe his mistress and caused the death of his own fated mate!""You! Grace was my fated mate!""Then answer me—where were you when Grace was at the marking ceremony? Where were you when Grace's wolf began wilting in the infirmary? And who was it that called Grace an evil wolf when she was at her most vulnerable at home?"Alonso was rendered completely speechless.A long while later, he finally lowered his head and clenched his fists.Lucy was so angry that she was shaking all over. She averted her gaze and refused to look at him. Finally, Alonso spoke in a hoarse, humble voice."I only want one thing from her. Can I?"Lucy sneered coldly and said, "Sorry,

Hailey's smile froze on her face."I don't forgive you," I said, making sure every word was clear. "And I will not plead with the council to spare your life.""Grace—""You took advantage of my kindness and hurt everything and everyone I cared about," I continued in a calm yet steady voice."You spread lies about me to ruin my reputation. You faked your pregnancy to destroy my bond. You also accelerated my death."Hailey Griffin, you have never once respected me. You only used me as a stepping stone to get to where you wanted to be."I then lifted my eyes and looked at the chief Elder, saying, "I will respect the decision of the Elders' Council. No matter what the outcome, I will accept it."Hailey's face changed completely. She scrambled up to her feet and screamed at me while pointing in my face, "You hypocritical bitch! What are you pretending to be so high-and-mighty for? You're nothing but an incapacitated, dying bitch—""Shut up!" Alonso thundered coldly. "Take her away!"

Time seemed to come to a standstill.Alonso sat there, completely stunned.A long while later, he finally found his voice again."So… It was because of me… It was because of my oath back then that made you suffer like this now?""Not entirely," I said quietly. "I chose to bear the consequences in your place.""But I never knew…"Alonso grabbed at his hair and dug his nails into his scalp. "I never knew that it would be taken as a real oath… I didn't know about the curse… Grace, I really thought that it was just some sort of sweet talk…""It doesn't matter if it was an oath or just sweet talk," I said, looking at him without any resentment in my eyes. "But if you said it, then someone had to be held accountable for it. Alonso, you broke your oath, and I bore the consequences. It's that simple."Alonso broke down in tears."It was me… I was the one who killed you," he said, repeating it endlessly. "I was the one who killed you, Grace…"I didn't comfort him.Instead, I just sil

"It's entirely up to me to decide if she's worthy of that position or not! Also, I have never planned to abandon her!" Alonso said, suddenly raising his voice in anger. "You were the one who used despicable methods for your own selfish reasons!""It doesn't matter what methods I used as long as the outcome is like this!" Hailey roared back angrily. "If you hadn't suddenly decided to investigate, I would have already been the pack's future Luna! Grace should have died a long time ago! She's nothing but an eyesore—"A resounding slap echoed down the corridor. It was immediately followed by Hailey's shrill scream."You hit me! Alonso Austin, you never even dared to say a harsh word to me before! How could you hit me just because of that stupid bitch!""Shut up," Alonso growled, his voice as cold as ice. "I never knew that you were a liar in the past. Also… You have no right to even speak of her name."There was then the sound of more struggling and dragging, and Hailey's voice becam

My condition deteriorated rapidly after Alonso left with Hailey. When Lucy sent me back to the infirmary again, the main healer's face was terribly grave. He checked the silver patterns on my arms and drew some of my blood for a series of tests."Her wolf is wilting too quickly. She's in the third stage now," the healer told Lucy in a low voice. "At most… she has about a month left."One month left.I lay on the bed and listened to the sound of falling snow outside the window, feeling oddly calm about everything."Grace, I did as you said and investigated the matter. Hailey isn't carrying any pups at all," Lucy said, showing me a test report. "Should I deliver this to Alonso?"I shook my head and said, "It doesn't matter anymore. Burn it."The sooner things ended, the sooner I would be free of all suffering. To my surprise, Alonso came alone to the infirmary three days later in the dead of the night. If I weren't so familiar with his scent, I wouldn't even have noticed that he

Alonso went silent."I don't know," he finally said, releasing my wrist and sounding exhausted. "I don't know what to believe anymore, Grace. I'm very familiar with your body. The video… Those scenes…""So, you don't believe me," I said lightly, like it was a statement of fact."How am I supposed to believe you?" he suddenly exploded and roared in my face. "That birthmark! The entire Northside Kingdom recognizes it! How do you expect me to tell the pack that it wasn't you?"Alonso kept growling in my face like a maniac, but all I wanted to do was laugh. After all, he was already together with another she-wolf, and yet, he still got angry and jealous over a video that couldn't even be proven to be real or authentic. At that moment, there was a light knock on the door.Hailey appeared with an elegant food container in her hands. She stood outside the door and smiled gently at us."Sorry, but the door wasn't closed. I didn't mean to eavesdrop."Her cheeks were glowing, and her ey
