Cassian drove in on his bike and turned down the long path, heading to the back of a building that had long been an abandoned project. He parked and turned off his bike before taking off his helmet. Knowing that he had missed some days at school and the need to be present, made him furious. School, indeed, was boring, and even though he had the freewill to do however he likes, he still feels trapped in this place. One reason was Headmistress Eldryn. Cassian isn’t quite a fan of her, but because of her, this school came to be, and he can be in an environment where he can relate to his old life again, or how normal he had once lived.

Covering the bike with a sheath, he ran a hand along his hair and marched towards the main building, still in his leather jacket and black pants. The vine-like marks that was caused by whatever Julianne did, peeked out just a little from his exposed neck. Ever since that day, nothing had changed. • Ashes and Bloodlines    The devil they say he is

Julianne hasn’t seen Cassian for days now since the freshman party. Although, she has seen Remus and Maximus walking together, but it was odd for some reason that he was not with them. Also, she noticed lately that Marianne has stopped covering up her neck and has been hanging out with the other two. What changed? Was it because, even as she was thinking about all that, she is walking next to Lucien? She turned her head to look at him and saw him already looking at her.“Ah, you didn’t hear that again,” he said and looked slightly disappointed.“Uh? Did you say something?” she asked, realizing she must have missed when he was talking.Lucien looked ahead and when they got to the place where they would part and head to their various directions, he said to her, “It’s Cassian, isn’t it?”Julianne could see the clear disappointment in his eyes, like he knew she was thinking about Cassian all along. She pulled her brows slightly and asked, “What are you talking about.”Lucien let out a si

Julianne sat there hoping that Marianne was fine. As her only friend, she would love to be with her and comfort her in any way she can, but Maximus had offered to go instead and even Cassian had stopped her. Still, she wondered if she was okay being with Maximus, knowing he was the reason she covered up her neck since she found out it was him who did it.Speaking about Cassian, since he explained the bloodsicle, he hasn’t said a single word ever since, and now, he is on his fourth treat. She sighed and lowered her eyes on the table, drifting into her own world. Hours ago, she had thought it would be the best night, but here she was, not enjoying even a single thing. Even when she thought she would see Lucien, he is nowhere to be seen. This was indeed her worst night ever since she came.“Why is this night so boring?” Remus exhaled aloud and shook his head. “I’m starting to feel sleepy.”“Then call it a night and go back to the dorm,” Cassian told him.“But that’s no fun. Still, it’s b

  • Ashes and Bloodlines    When Marianne asked

Maximus eyes moved around desperately as he rushed through the place, searching for Marianne. His eyes moved towards a table where he heard some girls laughing and then he moved his eyes towards the container where drinks and snacks are being served. Moving his eyes to the front, he sighted her just before she would turn the corner and disappear from sight. He went in that direction and moved his eyes around again as he ran towards where he supposed she would have gone.Marianne walked with her eyes on the path, oblivious of where she was going. All she wanted was to get away from the loud noise and the people and be by herself where she can express her emotions. She thought back on when Maximus held her hand as if to stop her from leaving, and even though she was expecting him to have said something, he did not. She stopped and gritted her teeth. Why her? She thought. Of all people, why did it have to be her?She let out a sigh and raised her eyes to see where she was. "Where am I?"

Cassian stared at the same spot for seconds and his jaw twitched. He blinked and pulled the corner of his lips a bit. Finally, he asked her another question, one that was unrelated to what she said, “Did Tim do or say anything to you the other day you came to the dorm?”Julianne wasn’t expecting a question like that from him. Worse, she expected him to ask her why she wanted to end whatever they had all of a sudden. She expected him to laugh it off and say she wasn’t being serious, but his nonchalant expression made her feel worse, like he saw it coming. It made her feel like she was the bad person.“A whore,” she heard a familiar voice say just at the side and she moved her head to see Aurora.Cassian raised his brow at her and she said, “You were asking what he said to her. Actually, I heard from one of my friends who is close with someone that witnessed it. She said Julianne visited the boy’s dorm in search of you and ended up being disgraced by Tim who called her a whore.” She lau

The minutes that followed were in awkward silence and obviously uncomfortable. On one hand, there is Marianne who is sitting between Maximus and Remus. On the other hand was Julianne who is sitting next to Cassian and on her other side is Maximus. During those few minutes, both Marianne and Julianne already exchanged glances about six times. When Remus moved his hand towards the snacks to grab a bite, Marianne quickly pulled the tray back and shot him a glare.“Chill,” he said with a little laugh. “It’s going to get cold anyway if you keep staring at it.”“That’s none of your business,” she said with a frown.Remus leaned back on the chair and said, “I’m your senior, yet you keep talking to me like that.”Marianne bit her lower lip and the frown on her forehead deepened. “I’m sorry,” she said, “but I wouldn’t have spoken in that manner if you placed yourself where you should be.”“What?” Remus scoffed and Cassian tapped his fingers on the table.“What is this in the air?” he asked all
