The minutes that followed were in awkward silence and obviously uncomfortable. On one hand, there is Marianne who is sitting between Maximus and Remus. On the other hand was Julianne who is sitting next to Cassian and on her other side is Maximus. During those few minutes, both Marianne and Julianne already exchanged glances about six times.

When Remus moved his hand towards the snacks to grab a bite, Marianne quickly pulled the tray back and shot him a glare.

“Chill,” he said with a little laugh. “It’s going to get cold anyway if you keep staring at it.”

“That’s none of your business,” she said with a frown.

Remus leaned back on the chair and said, “I’m your senior, yet you keep talking to me like that.”

Marianne bit her lower lip and the frown on her forehead deepened. “I’m sorry,” she said, “but I wouldn’t have spoken in that manner if you placed yourself where you should be.”

“What?” Remus scoffed and Cassian tapped his fingers on the table.

    Maximus eyes moved around desperately as he rushed through the place, searching for Marianne. His eyes moved towards a table where he heard some girls laughing and then he moved his eyes towards the container where drinks and snacks are being served.     “How are we going to figure out Julianne? Any plans tonight?” Maximus asked Cassian who was busy dressing up. His hair was still damp from just getting out of shower and from the looks of it, he doesn’t intent on drying it.“It’s freshman party, Max. She emptied her wardrobe and realized she didn’t have something pretty to wear for the occasion. They were mostly cardigans and long-sleeved clothes with trousers. She couldn’t wear them because it would make her look odd. Discouraged, she sat back on the bed and decided to wait for Marianne to get back from the volunteer work she was doing.
