Chapter 15 The Breakout

There is a firmness to my bed that resembles a cement mattress. I feel like knives are cutting my head open from the inside out. Hopefully there isn't any sunlight when I open my eyes. Keeping my eyes closed for a few more minutes, I continue to think. What happened to me that made me feel like I had been beaten to a pulp?

Opening my eyes cautiously, I take a look around me. The far wall has only one small window up near the ceiling. There are small silver bars covering the window. I wonder where in the world I am. Taking stock of my surroundings, I find myself in a cell with silver bars, lying on a paper-thin mattress on a cement floor. In terms of my uncomfortable sleep, this explains a lot.
