Iris:

I whisked the eggs and flour as I prepared the pancake batter.

Knowing that the beta was in a mood, I wanted to make something that would cheer her up so as to stay on her good side. I didn’t want to risk losing the chance that I got yesterday, and in order to do that; I needed to act accordingly.

Ezio and I would occasionally share a glance or two, he would wink at me or I would bite my bottom lip to prevent my smile from growing. But we both didn’t dare approach one another so as not to attract any unnecessary attention.

“Iris, are you done with the batter?” Vivian, one of the other slaves asked. I nodded, handing her the batter once I was sure that its ingredients merged. I turned to the oven, taking out the muffins that I baked. Their smell filled our nostrils and knowing that the pack’s kids were heading off to school; I believed that it would be best for them to get something that gave them a little energy for the day.
