Clara’s POV

When I wake up, the first thing I see is two burly men staring directly at me.

“Ah!” I let out a shriek of surprise, scrambling back and clutching my bedsheet to my chest–

Wait… bedsheet?

Where am I?

I look around quickly, still feeling panicked and afraid by my unfamiliar surroundings. If I had to guess, I’d say I’m in a hospital, judging by the blinding white lights and the sterile-looking setup. I feel surprisingly well-rested considering, well, everything.

If I had to guess, I’d say I’m in a hospital, judging by the blinding white lights and the sterile-looking setup. I feel surprisingly well-rested considering, well, everything.I recognize one of them had those disgusting Moonstone guards ripped to shreds, and threatened that I may be next.“Please don’t kill me!” I beg frantically, shooting up off the bed and pressing myself into a corner. “Pease, I swear this is all some kind of misunderstanding–”The lead soldier raises an eyebrow before lifting his hands in a placating gesture. “You won’t be hurt,” he says, voice low and gruff. He tilts his head to one side, then calls out, “Doctor!”An elderly-looking woman quickly shuffles the room an

Clara’s POVAs the two guards approach me, I become a being of pure instinct. Before I can even process what’s happening to me, I’ve managed to shake the chains off my arms and legs. My sharp claws extend. I swing my arm forward without mercy, feeling the blood well up beneath my nails as I cut into the face of the guard in front of me.“Bitch!” He screams out, blood pouring down his face as his lip curls in disgust and he sinks to the ground.I breathe shallowly, heart racing, claws still raised. And then I start to run.My feet thud heavily on the thick mat of fallen leaves beneath my feet. Thorny branches and brambles claw at the thin fabric of my dress. I can hear shouts behind me, the guards’ words, lewd and taunting.“Get back here, you whore!”“Come show us exactly how you managed to seduce Alpha Damien!”“Doesn’t a slut like you want to get caught?”A ragged sob tears from my throat as I continue to run. I actually think I’d rather die than let those men anywhere near me–And

The chains around my wrists and ankles dig into my skin. My breathing is laboured, a new wheeze rattling through my lungs, and my eyes feel heavy and swollen from all the tears I've shed. They tried to torture me. They tried to get me to confess.I didn’t.But I’m barely alive now because of it.As I’m ushered into the room and forced to the stand, jeers and hateful growls cast my way. I’m dodging hostile glares at every turn. People are pointing and whispering to themselves, spreading rumours no doubt, trying to figure out exactly what kind of monster I am.Not that it matters.None of it matters anymore.I’m doomed. As the shouting in the courtroom rises to a crescendo, Alpha Damien’s strong, powerful voice suddenly cuts through the room, bringing about an abrupt burst of sile

Clara’s POV“Murderer! Arrest her!”The accusation crackles through the air, damning as anything could ever be. My eyes widen in fear. “No, I don’t– I swear I didn’t–”Rachel’s eyes gleam with a cruel light. “Guards, arrest her. Now!”A scream of pure horror rips from my throat as two guards lunge towards me. Their fingers clamp around my arms like iron, the force enough to leave bruises. I look up at Rachel, eyes watering helplessly. “I didn’t do it! Please!”“Tell that to Damien,” she replies cooly. The guards haul me out of the small room, and much to my horror, a small crowd has already amassed outside. Shame and fear pour through me as I lower my head and try to hold back my tears. In the crowd I catch sight of Layla, covering her mouth and crying. Is she going to be okay? What about her family? Considering what they think I did…Whispers fill the hall, expressions of revulsion cast my way. Every harsh word and sideways glare slips a pin of agony straight to my heart. I can hear

Clara’s POVToday is the day of the Luna Ceremony, and my heart feels like it might burst.“You’re going to do great, sweetheart,” Alpha Damien tells me softly, kissing my cheek and tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “I love you. I’ve waited my whole life to crown you as my Luna.”I gaze up at him adoringly, still not quite able to wrap my head around everything that’s happening. He didn't just accept my secret; he chose me, hybrid and all. He is my fated mate, my protector, and my home.“I love you too,” I whisper, melting into his chest. His scent of rain and cedar wraps around me like a promise. “Are you sure you can’t stay just a little longer?”He chuckles and caresses my cheek. “I wish I could, but“I’ve got to go wrap up the last couple details for the ceremony. I’ll see you at the altar, my beautiful Luna.”“Alright,” I whisper as he presses a final, lingering kiss to my temple. “I’ll see you soon.”With a wink, he slips out of the room, leaving me alone with everything I

Clara’s POV“Is it true?”Alpha Damien looks at me cautiously as he speaks, expression imperceptible. My heart is racing, veins flooded with adrenaline. I feel like I’m about to lose my mind. I avert my gaze from his, unable to look him in the eyes. “It is,” I say softly. Elder Claude grins wickedly. “See? She admits it–” “Wait.” Alpha Damien’s voice thunders through the hall, gaze still locked on me. “There has to be more to this story. Who is your family, Clara?” “I–I was adopted!” I stammer out nervously. My first instinct is to protect Layla’s family above all else. “They didn’t know about any of this, and I–I mean, it’s not like I know much more! I don’t even know where I’m from. I just… I’ve been trying to live quietly here. I never meant anyone any harm.” I’m speaking in a desperate rush now, words spilling past my lips like a rushing river. “And I wanted to tell you sooner, I swear! I just never got the chance…”“Bullshit!” Elder Claude hisses. “You could be descended fro
