Meet (1)

"Green, I'm sorry we can't be together anymore."

"Alta, what's wrong with you? You promised you wouldn't leave me, now why is this? What did I do, Al?" asked Green in a quivering voice. She was taken aback by the sudden presence of Alta and wanted to end their relationship.

"You didn't do anything wrong, Green, I did, I couldn't keep my words," Alta's voice quivered too when he said it, so it was clear that the man was feeling sorry for breaking his promise to Green.

"Tell me, what was going on?"

"I'm sorry, Green, I gotta go."

 "Alta, please don't leave me."

 "Green, so sorry."

 "Don't go."

In her dream it was obvious that Green saw Alta turn around, leaving without explaining what had happened. Behind him was a woman in the dark, Green couldn't see the real figure, her face was vague.

Green shouted Alta's name, keeping him from staying, but the man walked away without looking back at her. On the way to case him, there was a hand holding him, he said. "I'm here Green."

The hand, yes it's the big hand of a man that's so warm and soothing. Green immediately focused on the hand's owner, his genuine smile, his warm gaze, but it wasn't the man Green wanted, Green didn't want anyone else, she just wanted her Alta. Green shook the hand roughly and then ran after Alta who perfectly disappeared.

Until Green finally woke up, her eyes perfectly opened, the sweat rolling down from her forehead and temples, this was her second dream of Alta and all bad dreams. God was this a clue that the relationship with Alta was about to end? Green saw a big hand griping her fingers, the first sight she saw unfamiliar, she realized that it was right here in Cherry's room. Then who owned this hand? Is this...,

"You had a nightmare?" Green had not finished asking herself yet, the owner of the hand spoke up.

Green wiped down the sweat and wiped away the tears before answering a question of Langit. "I'm fine."

"Drink first." Langit held a glass of mineral water over Green and she took it without further thought, Green gulped the water down and returned the glass back to him.

 "Thank you, brother."

Langit replied her with only a brief nod. Knowing that his hand was still on Green's fingers, Langit pulled it away, afraid she was uncomfortable with it.

"Sorry, Green, I don't mean to..."

"I beg you, brother, please keep your distance from me," Green said with a faint voice before Langit did his explanation.

"Why?" He asked with his curiosity, and he said it in a low voice because he didn't want to disturb his sister who was still asleep tight.

"Brother, please..."

Green didn't want to hear anything more from Langit, for her what she said was very clear, she didn't want to get too close to him or any other men, her focus was on Alta, Green wanted Alta to be the only man in her life until the end. But did Alta want the same? Or Green the only one who expected that?

Langit could see right now Green was not okay since the nightmare she had. Langit chose defeat and gave a space, he came out of Cherry's room without saying anything.

***

This was the best Sunday of Cherry's life. How not, this morning Green was at her house, she wasn't lonely even though they were just filling out the day off with an assignment, but it didn't matter, at least it was better than having a messy thought lonely in the room.

"Green, I heard you last night talking to brother Langit about nightmares, didn't I?" Cherry said when they had just finished breakfast.

"It's not right, you heard wrong."

It wasn't Green's voice, it was Langit who suddenly came. Looked like the man had just finished exercising, it shown from the sweat on his shirt. Langit and Green eyes met, but Green immediately looked away.

"Really, Green?" asked Cherry assured.

"Yes, sure. Besides you're sleeping, the sleeping one tends to mishear," Green replied perfunctory answer.

Langit sat quietly and chewed the bread of cocoa butter, his eyes glued to his phone in his hand, and he was fiddling with it. Somehow it seemed like everyday is monday in Langit's life.

"Okay, maybe I heard it wrong," said Cherry finally.

"After this, I'll go out, you take care of the house." Langit  had finished with his breakfast, he pulled down the chair and passed from Green and Cherry.

"Where are you going?" asked Cherry half-shouted.

 "There's a job."

"Working and working as always,  it's Sunday, Bro."

No response, Langit kept walking up to his room, ignored Cherry's talks. green who witnessed that chose to stay silent, didn't want to interfere with a bussiness of the two.

"I feel like I'm living alone in this house, Green," said Cherry to Green, who hasn't said much in a while.

"You take it easy, probably Mr.Langit is busy."

"In his life there's like no Sunday, all Monday, I'm confused!" Cherry grumbled because she was upset that the older brother was rarely at home and accompany her.

Green's been unresponsive, and since last nightmare her thoughts haven't settled down, he hasn't slept till morning. Even Alta hasn't contacted her today, that only added to Green's anxiety and worry. It's noticed by Cherry."Green, what's wrong?" asked Cherry who realized Green's face full of worry.

"Nothing Cher, let's do our work," Green took a smile to mask her troubled heart.

Cherry knew Green was not doing well, yet again the woman chose to save herself rather than told her. If she did that, Cherry could force her, he'll wait until Green told the story herself.

" Sure, I've finished reading too." Cherry took Green to the backyard, today they would finish the book analysis assignment because it must be handed over quickly.

Green and Cherry finally came to the backyard, they opened up their laptop and did the job without any small talks. Both seemed to be serious about reading and then copying the quotations that deal with the subject, occasionally Cherry asking Green and Green explained immediately, as did the opposite. Langit who saw this  smiled and more convinced that Cherry didn't pick the wrong friend.

After nearly three hours of struggle, Cherry and Green finally breathed a sigh of relief from completing the task. "Finally, it's done."

"Thank God," Green said, flexing her previously tense muscles.

Green lied down with her eyes closed, so much has happened in her life which kept her alive to this day. "You're great Green," she complimented herself.

Cherry lied along beside Green playing her cell phone, at the same time she heard the voice of someone she knew so well, a happy voice she had not heard in a long time.

"Cherry, my beloved daughter...," shouted Kalila, her step towards the back yard  where Green and Cherry were.

Cherry who noticed that was the voice of her mom, staring at Green who had already looked at Cherry.

"My mom," Cherry said as if she understood the meaning of Green's gaze.

Cherry stood up with Green next to her, she immediately ran to her mom. Green was a guest who didn't know how to react, and as a result she just stood there in the presence of a middle-aged man and woman hugging Cherry warmly, there was Langit too behind them. Again their eyes met, and again it was Green who stopped looking away.

After hugging each other, Kalila and Jerry saw another human among them, a woman not far from their recent position.

"Who's there?" asked Kalila pointing at Green as she took her foot towards Green.

"My name is Green, tante—a call for middle-age woman, a friend of..."

"Oh, so this is my daughter in law to be," said Kalila happily, giving Green a hug.

Langit that witnessed it soon approached. "Mom..,"

"It's why you didn't want me to introduce my friends' children, It turned out a beautiful future daughter-in-law." Kalila looked at Green and Langit in turns, and when she saw Green, Kalila could not hide her impressive gaze.

"You're so beautiful honey, what's your name?" aked Kalila softly.

Green who had no idea about what was really going on, only answered Kalila's question briefly. "Green, aunty."

"Mom, call me mom from now on.”

Green felt her life was in danger, moreover the woman who got her to called mom calling her a daughter in law to be. Whom will be married by who? Langit and herself? No no, that couldn't happen, she still loved Alta very much. Langit must be responsible for this mess, Green looked up at Langit waiting for explanation, Langit who understood it immediately was approaching his mom.

"Mom, sit down first, please listen my explanatiom." Langit let her mom sit, followed by all the people there, including Green.

"Mom, Green is a college friend of Cherry, they're in group work," Langit started her explanation, "and the most important, Gereen and Langit—"

"You're getting married soon?" asked Kalila interrupting the explanation..

Langit took a deep breath, it would be hard for him to explain if his mom had acted this way. Langit looked at Cherry for help, yet the object was just froze and gave a teasing smile.

"Mom, Langit isn't finished by the way, let him continued his speaking" said Jerry.

Kalila got annoyed, she looked up at Langit and Jerry's with a sullen gaze, and she thought the two men are the same, always making excuses.

"Dear, have you eaten? I have so many things from Bandung with me, so take them with you when you go home, or you might as well stay here with Cherry."

Green was very uncomfortable in her current situation, on the other hand,  she was happy Kalila was so nice to her even on their first meeting. But Green felt it was too much, considering she was not someone special for Langit. Green didn't think she deserved it.

Jerry could see Green and Langi uncomfortable feeling, seemed like what's happening right now was a misunderstanding. But he chose to be silence, letting Kalila did what she would first. While Cherry was laughing, as though she didn't think the misunderstanding was a problem.

Kalila invited Cherry and Green to sit in the living room, tenderly holding the woman's hands. Jerry and Langit followed behind them. "Lang, what's wrong?" asked Jerry whispered. Langit was just silent, he thought he'll explain everything to Jerry when Green got  back home.

"My daughter, when will I get to meet your parents?" Kalila asked Green in front of her.

"What will you do then, mom?" asked Langit immediately.

"Lang, you stop talking, I'm talking to Green," she blurted as she gazed up at Langit with the deepest look.

Green was silent for a moment, a sadness reflected from her eyes. This made Kalila confused "Dear..," called Kalila softly while touched the back of Green's hand.

 "Green has no parents, Bun."

Kalila was surprised that she felt guilty for asking that question. Kalila approached and hugged Green. "Sorry dear, I didn't mean to."

Green felt warm for a while. That embrace, the one she hasn't had in four years late, he's been cold all the time. The only warmth she felt was the presence of Alta, who wasn't as warm as it used to be.

 "It's okay, Bun."

Langit who saw the interaction of these two smiled slightly, even now Green has called mom to his mother. Well, at least the lady did not keep her distance on his mom.

"Lang...," called Kalila.

 "Yes, bun."

"You and Green should get married soon."

"Mom, Green and I have just met, let us enjoy the days to know each other deeper," Langit uttered trying to explain to his mom.

 "The sooner the better, Lang."

"Give Green time to talk about it first, Bun," said Langit clearly.

They had gone this misunderstanding deeper, Green tried to decline it softly "Bun, Green is in college, Green isn't getting married either."

"Honey, I just want Langit to take care of you completely."

"Mom, they are adults, let them discuss this personally." Jerry gave his opinion and Kalila immediately answered. "Dad and Langit are alike, both of you like procrastinating."

Jerry sighed deepy, if this were the case, she would stand on her spot, she was a bit stubborn, but she has a soft heart.

"No, not that what I mean, Bun,"  said Langit.

"Dear, forgive my son, it must be hard for you to connect with him."

"No, Bun, brother Langi is nice and kind."

Langit was shocked to hear Green opinion about him, his eyes stunned as he saw Green's interaction with his mom. Green's warm smile on Kalila, the two seemed as close as two figures who had split up and then were reunited. Could he wish that Green and him would be together for the shake of love? It was not just a fake or for Kalila's happiness?
