MasukNYSSA'S POV:“Today, Nyssa, you're going to share my bed.”I stared from Hugh to his father,my clenched fists trembling with a hatred that was indescribable. I glanced at Hugh, and for a moment, I wondered if he had ever loved me. It was too late to find out now. “You know,” Mr. Walkman grinned as he offered me a flute filled with champagne, “I've never known suffering. From when I was a child, anything I wanted, I got. That was why when I saw you with my son, I wondered why I couldn't have you. I'm spoiled, I have to admit. But I'm a good type of spoiled because being my mistress comes with a lot of benefits, Nyssa…”My hands burning with rage, I flung the contents of the flute into his face. Mr. Walkman stopped talking for a moment, his face splattered with champagne. Smiling, he turned to Hugh.“Take her to my room while I clean up. You're going to regret what you just did.”The cheerful scent of citrus in Mr. Walkman's massive bedroom did nothing to hide the stench of doom tha
ROMAN'S POV:The moon was up in the sky when the first sixty men got into the five vans that was supposed to transport them to the Walkman estate. Adrian, who was their leader, barked orders to them as he got ready to enter one of the vans. I walked up to him, watching emotionally as men who didn't even know me personally were probably going to their deaths for a cause that wasn't theirs. “Roman.” Adrain called as the first couple of vans began to move. He was in the passenger seat of one of the vans, and in the driver's seat was his most trusted right hand man, Leonardo. “As soon as I breach the gates, I'll send the signal. You and the remaining men can start driving to the back gate now. That way, it'll make it easier for us to attack.”I nodded, grabbing his hand in solidarity. “Thank you for this, Adrain. Thank you.”He nodded and grinned at me as the van began to pick up speed. I stood from where I was, watching the five vans leave the Giovanni estate. The signal once the b
ROMAN'S POV:I smoked a cigarette as I waited for the men who had been selected on the rescue mission to get prepared. They all stood next to the Giovanni household, being handed guns and weapons of their choosing. As I stared at the one hundred and sixty men who were about to risk their lives for a cause they didn't exactly know about, I felt guilty. Wasn't the bloodshed enough?I was genuinely exhausted. When I had become the Mafia lord of the Adams family, I never thought I would see the day when I would grow tired of being one of the biggest and most notorious Mafia lords in the city of Cleveland. But as I stood against the droplight of the full moon, I knew that within me, I was tired of it all. If I was going to continue living so recklessly, what was the guarantee that Nyssa would want to be with me? She was obviously running away from the life of crime I led, the recklessness and the incessant fighting. I was a man who was tired of it all, but couldn't stop. Paul joined
ROMAN'S POV:In all my years of meeting Adrian Giovanni, I had never seen him look so angry and helpless at the same time. The mention of the Walkman clan had an effect on him, as if rescuing Nyssa was now impossible. Leonardo, his right hand man who was standing next to him shook his head. “I don't believe this, boss. What does the Walkman clan have to do with Nyssa Dimitri? She doesn't even matter in the grand scheme of things. How is it possible that Mr. Walkman wants her all of a sudden? Something isn't right.”I stared at him in disappointment. “Are you saying I'm trying to lure you to the Walkman's estate?” I turned to Adrian, ignoring Leonardo completely. “Even if I wanted to kill you, Adrian, trust me it wouldn't be this way. I gain nothing in luring you away from your home and killing you somewhere else…”“Allow me to think!”Adrian cried out, interrupting me. The veins on his forehead popped out dangerously, as if acknowledging the stress he was going through mentally. H
ROMAN'S POV:I stared at the phone which had gone dead in my hand, and without thinking, I flung it to the wall where it shattered into a million pieces helplessly. I turned to Charlene, and at that moment, I wanted to kill her. As I made my way towards her, Paul came in between us, putting a lid on my already boiling temper. “Allow me to kill this good for nothing woman, Paul! Why, Charlene? Since Nyssa came into this household, all you've done is persecute her for a crime she has not committed. I never loved you, Charlene, and you knew this before you even moved in with me. You only needed a narrative to hate Nyssa, and now you have it.”I continued, swallowing hard. “Are you satisfied now? Do you know who Mr Walkman is? This is a man who has Mafia relations as far as France. How I'm I supposed to deal with such a man, huh? How do you even think I can go into his estate without getting killed?”Paul held me closely as I screamed at the top of my voice. “Boss, killing Charlene
ROMAN'S POV:I ran out of my study, acting purely on instinct. I got to Charlene's red convertible in time before she pulled it out of the garage. And without caring, I pulled my Glock from the waistband of my trouser, then pointed it directly at the windscreen of the car. “Get out of the car, Charlene. I want your hands where I can see them.”She stopped the car and opened the door slowly, the confusion evident on her face. Even Paul, who stood about a foot from me, stared at me as if I had gone mad. I didn't know what I was doing at that moment, but I felt strongly that it was right, so I continued anyway. “What's this, Roman?”I pointed the gun at her now, then gestured to the house with it.“Get back into the house.” When she hesitated briefly, I barked at her, my voice a growl. “Now!”She walked to the house slowly, her hands still in the air. Paul walked closer to me with the air of a man who was about to object, but seeing my countenance, quickly changed his mind. I kept m
