NYSSA'S POV:

“Today, Nyssa, you're going to share my bed.”

I stared from Hugh to his father,my clenched fists trembling with a hatred that was indescribable.

I glanced at Hugh, and for a moment, I wondered if he had ever loved me. It was too late to find out now.

“You know,” Mr. Walkman grinned as he offered me a flute filled with champagne, “I've never known suffering. From when I was a child, anything I wanted, I got. That was why when I saw you with my son, I wondered why I couldn't have you. I'm spoiled, I have to admit. But I'm a good type of spoiled because being my mistress comes with a lot of benefits, Nyssa…”

My hands burning with rage, I flung the contents of the flute into his face.

Mr. Walkman stopped talking for a moment, his face splattered with champagne.

Smiling, he turned to Hugh.

“Take her to my room while I clean up. You're going to regret what you just did.”

The cheerful scent of citrus in Mr. Walkman's massive bedroom did nothing to hide the stench of doom tha

  • Auctioned To The Highest Bidder   CHAPTER 141

NYSSA'S POV:In all my days of knowing Roman Adams, I had never been more pleased to see him. His well defined jawline, his green eyes and his tall, lean but well balanced frame was a sight I had wished to see since Hugh had grabbed me in the taxi I had taken in front of the Giovanni household. I gasped when I saw the wound on his abdomen. “Roman..you're bleeding!”Without even a glance at the wound, he kept his eyes directly on Mr. Walkman, who held me in place with his weapon on the side of my head. “I guess my snipers got to you.”“Let her go!” Roman replied at the top of his voice, his hands steady. Blood was pouring from his shirt, and I found my heart slamming repeatedly and my hands trembling on his behalf as I wondered how long he was going to last before the bleeding rendered him unconscious. “This war is over, Mr. Walkman. In a few minutes, my men will take the front and back gate and kill every remaining member of the Walkman clan in this premises. You can either surre

ROMAN'S POV:With every shot I fired into the main house of the Walkman clan, I prayed that Nyssa Dimitri wasn't caught in the crossfire. Just like we had expected, the Walkman clan had one of the best defensive structures amongst the other mafia families. Adrian and the sixty men had managed to penetrate within a mile of the gate, but with heavy shots pinging off the men and reducing their numbers as time slipped by. “I don't know if we can make it, boss. I've…I've never seen a very organized defence like this in years. They're so so good.” Paul crouching next to me, held his rifle in a manner that suggested that he was already tired of doing so. He popped two shots in the direction of some Walkman men who were crouched next to the main building. “It's the explosives they're using. They have constructed mines in places we don't know and if you don't move carefully, you'll find yourself blown into bits.”Paul shook his head as he glanced at the moon and then back at the watch on

ROMAN'S POV:The moon was up in the sky when the first sixty men got into the five vans that was supposed to transport them to the Walkman estate. Adrian, who was their leader, barked orders to them as he got ready to enter one of the vans. I walked up to him, watching emotionally as men who didn't even know me personally were probably going to their deaths for a cause that wasn't theirs. “Roman.” Adrain called as the first couple of vans began to move. He was in the passenger seat of one of the vans, and in the driver's seat was his most trusted right hand man, Leonardo. “As soon as I breach the gates, I'll send the signal. You and the remaining men can start driving to the back gate now. That way, it'll make it easier for us to attack.”I nodded, grabbing his hand in solidarity. “Thank you for this, Adrain. Thank you.”He nodded and grinned at me as the van began to pick up speed. I stood from where I was, watching the five vans leave the Giovanni estate. The signal once the b

ROMAN'S POV:I smoked a cigarette as I waited for the men who had been selected on the rescue mission to get prepared. They all stood next to the Giovanni household, being handed guns and weapons of their choosing. As I stared at the one hundred and sixty men who were about to risk their lives for a cause they didn't exactly know about, I felt guilty. Wasn't the bloodshed enough?I was genuinely exhausted. When I had become the Mafia lord of the Adams family, I never thought I would see the day when I would grow tired of being one of the biggest and most notorious Mafia lords in the city of Cleveland. But as I stood against the droplight of the full moon, I knew that within me, I was tired of it all. If I was going to continue living so recklessly, what was the guarantee that Nyssa would want to be with me? She was obviously running away from the life of crime I led, the recklessness and the incessant fighting. I was a man who was tired of it all, but couldn't stop. Paul joined

  • Auctioned To The Highest Bidder   CHAPTER 136

ROMAN'S POV:In all my years of meeting Adrian Giovanni, I had never seen him look so angry and helpless at the same time. The mention of the Walkman clan had an effect on him, as if rescuing Nyssa was now impossible. Leonardo, his right hand man who was standing next to him shook his head. “I don't believe this, boss. What does the Walkman clan have to do with Nyssa Dimitri? She doesn't even matter in the grand scheme of things. How is it possible that Mr. Walkman wants her all of a sudden? Something isn't right.”I stared at him in disappointment. “Are you saying I'm trying to lure you to the Walkman's estate?” I turned to Adrian, ignoring Leonardo completely. “Even if I wanted to kill you, Adrian, trust me it wouldn't be this way. I gain nothing in luring you away from your home and killing you somewhere else…”“Allow me to think!”Adrian cried out, interrupting me. The veins on his forehead popped out dangerously, as if acknowledging the stress he was going through mentally. H
