ROMAN'S POV:

“What about the men who are supposed to find out if Nyssa is anywhere close to Adrian?”

I asked Paul, who sat on the chair next to me in the delivery company. So far, so good. Business had started again, and I did it recklessly, without caring if the police were watching or not.

I had the Chief of police in my pocket now. And if he tried to do anything to disrupt my business, I was going to release the files to the press immediately.

There was no stopping me now.

“No news from them yet, boss. As soon as I receive news, I'll let you know.”

I nodded, lighting a cigarette.

Even though securing the drug hive was victory enough, there was no victory without Nyssa Dimitri. So far, no dead body had turned up from New York. That meant she was out there.

What killed me every time was the fact that I had no idea of how she was. Was she suffering? Was she doing okay? I had never forgiven myself totally for leaving New York city without her.

After all, I had taken her there.

NYSSA'S POV:I stared at my mother for more clarification, but she moved backwards, and the older man whom I now knew was definitely Mr Walkman came forward. He smiled at me as his hands found my chin. I struggled to move away, but the ropes reminded me that I wasn't even in charge of my own movements. “Good evening, Nyssa Dimitri. I'm guessing this is the first time we're meeting. I can't lie, I love what I'm seeing.”He turned to Hugh, who maintained a straightforward face, and I glanced at him, wondering if he had ever loved me or he was grooming me for his father. “You didn't tell me she was this beautiful, Hugh. She's exceptional. Just what I love.”I glanced at the woman who was no longer my mother, and she looked away, the guilt eating her up. “How are you?”Disgusted, I spat on him, watching the spittle land on his face. He smiled at me, grabbing a handkerchief from his pocket and wiping his face while he ordered the men who were ready to jump at me and start disciplining

NYSSA'S POV:As soon as darkness fell, I heard the engine of a car pull up next to the garage. I struggled against the ropes that bound me to the pillar once more, swearing inwardly as I fought for my freedom. In the past year, my life had gone from one unexpected twist to another. How did I just leave Roman Adams and now I was being kidnapped by Hugh, a boyfriend who I was sure I had left in the past? What did he have to gain by kidnapping me?The stranger who had been in charge of me approached, this time with two other men by his side. He pulled the rope off my mouth, then smiled at me. “It's time, woman. You're coming with us.”“Where…where are you taking me? I demand to know where I am being taken!”The two men who followed him loosened the ropes that bound me, then raised me to my feet. I wriggled impatiently in an attempt to be free from the harshness of their hands as they held me in place, but it was in vain. The stranger in charge retrieved a pack of cigarettes from his

ROMAN'S POV:I entered the room I shared with Charlene then stopped dead in my tracks when I noticed the packed boxes and luggages in the center of the room. She stood next to the window, looking out, deep in thought. If she had seen me or if she observed that there was another presence in the room with her, she didn't acknowledge it. “I'm leaving. I want to give you the chance to do what you've always wanted.”I slipped my hands into the pockets of the robe I had on my body, then leaned onto the wardrobe. “What do you mean by what I've always wanted?”She turned to me, and on her red face, I could see the anger all over it. “Oh, don't give me that ignorant look, Roman. Do you think I'm a fool? Do you think I didn't notice how changed you became after New York City? How you didn't even see me, how you slept in the study. You weren't just looking for her, something had happened between the two of you in New York. You really take me for a fool if you think I've not noticed!”I shru

NYSSA'S POV:My eyes opened slowly as I scanned my environment and the events of the past few hours came rushing back to me. My head began to pound fiercely as I came to the slow realization that I was against a wall and my hands were well and securely tied to it. I tried to wriggle free but gave up almost immediately because it was impossible. I looked around, observing the cobwebs and the dirt in the room. It looked like an old and abandoned garage. There were rusted tools in a corner, and in the middle of the room was a car that was covered with a dirty cloth which had once been white but was nearly black in colour at the moment. Who was the man who had attacked me in the backseat of the taxi? What was I doing in a dirty garage?I was still trying to wrap my head around my whereabouts when a man entered the room. He held a revolver in one hand, and had a baseball cap covering his face. “She's awake.”When it seemed as if his message hadn't been relayed properly, he said it agai

NYSSA'S POV:“Are you alright?”The voice of Adrian Giovanni pierced through my thoughts, and I turned from the window, trying to get rid of the thoughts that clouded my mind and barely allowed me to think properly. How could I be alright when Paul, the second in command and the right-hand man of Roman Adams had just told me he loved me?How was I supposed to be alright when I had just been told that Roman Adams had actually been searching for me, and had blamed himself severally for my disappearance? At that moment, I wasn't alright. All I thought of was my choices, and how terrible they were. I was running away from a life of crime and the streets which were filled with death and broken families, but in that same life of crime was a man who loved me, a man whom I couldn't resist, the same man who yesterday had kissed me in a manner in which no other man had done. “Since you came to the house, you've barely answered my questions. And you've been staring at that window for minute

  • Auctioned To The Highest Bidder   CHAPTER 128

NYSSA'S POV:I was eating in my room when the door opened. Seeing Roman Adams's face after everything that had happened the previous night made me almost groan in exhaustion. Since when did he start frequenting the servants quarters? The last time I had been in the Adams household, I knew that he rarely went near the quarters. But now, it was different. He came in and went as he pleased, something that he wouldn't have done a few months ago. I dropped my fork, glancing at the face of the man who had affected my life in ways I couldn't imagine another man could. “Paul is going to drive you to the Giovanni estate. I mean, that's where you'll be this morning, isn't it?”“Yes, thank you.”He made a move as if he wanted to leave the room, then stopped before turning to me. “And remember, after your work with Adrian, you come back here, alright?”I looked away, hurt by the fact that he was so obsessed with reminding me that he owned me and everything that concerned me.
