Caden’s knowing smile lingered in my mind long after he disappeared, leaving me alone in the dimly lit kitchen. My heart raced, and my breaths came shallow as I stared at the shattered pieces of the cup on the floor. His words clung to me like a second skin, both tantalizing and terrifying.
