CHAPTER 40

Hire goons – says Elena

Kaine’s POV

“Sir… they said PrimeTech pulled out this morning. They sent an official email and also removed our partnership post from their site,” my assistant said just moments ago after I settled in the office.

I didn’t even let her finish before I stood up.

“What do you mean PrimeTech pulled out? That contract was already signed. The board already approved it. What kind of joke is this?” I asked, my voice rising.

She looked nervous and stepped back away from me. “They didn’t say much. Just that they’re no longer going forward with the partnership. No clear reason, sir.”

I slammed the files she handed me hard on my desk. The sound echoed in the room and my assistant flinched. I was breathing hard as my chest rose and fell fast in anger. My jaws were clenched. I felt like screaming but I couldn't act on the thought as I still had to remain professional. I kicked the chair beside me, and it hit the wall with a loud bang.

"And did they say who the co

CHAPTER 41KAINE I sat in my ruined office, breathing in the silence that followed after Elena’s words. Was she seriously suggesting this to me? That I should go after Marek? It doesn't sound like a bad idea but doing that would just make us clash often. He might term it as me being jealous of PrimeTech withdrawing the contract from my company to his.And besides the thug who had demolished my building had said I was constructing one in a place that wasn't mine. Does that mean it was his territory? I don't care about that. He could have just informed me himself and given me an ultimatum to demolish the building myself. But instead he went ahead and did it.“Hire goons, Kaine,” she had said. Her voice still rang in my head. She stood by the door now, waiting for my answer. Her arms were still crossed, her expression calm but strong.I looked around at the mess I had made. Paper files scattered the floor, there was broken glass from the lamp I had thrown to the floor, chairs on the sid

Chapter 39Aurora’s POVI wiped the table with a clean towel and glanced at the clock on the wall. My shift at the restaurant was almost over. The place was quieter than usual, and I liked it that way. No fake Alina to my side, gishing me wide smiles and offering to help me.It had been weeks since our fight. I tried not to think about it anymore. I pushed the memory far back in my mind.I didn’t go back to the small room in the restaurant. I couldn’t. It reminded me too much of that night. It reminded me of the things we both shared of the memories we'd created in the room. The way she always looked at me and offered her help, the talks she gave me and the spell books she brought to me to study. I could've just returned to the building at the outskirts of the town but that's where we had our last fight and besides that, the building had crashed under the weight of my power. So I left.I took all the money I had saved from working. I counted it three times. Then I looked for a place.

Chapter 38Stefan’s POVI stood outside the packhouse, staring at the trees. The wind blew gently through the leaves. The moon was shining with all its intensity this night and for some reason it's power call to me but I was in no mood to heed to it. I don't think I needed to feel the thrill of running under the moonlight. The forest was quiet. Peaceful. But I couldn’t feel peace.Kai was gone. My beta and the only friend I had, the only one I could rely on and trust, the only one I could talk to and share my problems with, the one who was like a brother to me was gone. He left me just hours ago, off to Viktor's land to spy on him and his plans. And here I was alone and longing for him.I had never been one to be kind of words but with Kai, I found ways of showing how much he meant to me. Sometimes I'd offer subtle and little touches while sometimes my anger and yelling at him were the ways I told him I loved him.I crossed my arms and sighed as something crept into my mind and realiz

Chapter 37Stefan’s POVThe two rogues were dragged by men back to the pack house. The hunting he had started was because of them and once we had gotten two suspicious people, there was no need to continue hunting.Although I was still in my wolf form, I stayed behind for a while watching the woods for any more movement....who knows there might be more rogue hiding. As soon I was satisfied and sure there was no more danger lurking in the woods waiting for the right time to pounce on us.I heard a loud howl and knew instantly it was the cell of my pack. I stared at the woods one last time before turning and racing to meet them. A wolf came pounding out of the other side, I snarled in warning but it was too late, it barrelled into me before it skidded to a stop and threw me off balance , I flew and landed on a wood.I growled as the pain shot through my spine. "Stefan?" I heard Kai's voice as he approached me butt naked.I titled my head in a reptilian way, trying hard to control my alp

Chapter 36Stefan’s POVI sat in my chair, legs wide apart, arms resting on both sides. My head throbbed loudly like someone and painstakingly went through the stress of pounding my head continuously with metal. I rubbed my forehead as if doing that alone will make the pains disappear from wherever it came out from. The door swung open fast and I nearly cursed the intruder but it turned out to be Ace…my right hand man. His steps were rather quick for someone who takes time walking like he owns the world and his face was tight for someone who smiles a lot, and always giving off the impression he wasn't connected with the Mafia. He stood in front of me and nodded once. “It’s done.”I blinked hard for a while trying to understand what it was. I had not given Ace any work to do. I didn't even bother to tell instead I raised an eyebrow at him. He smiled knowingly. He continued, “I saw Grayson gathering the boys and questioned him. He told me you ordered him to do it. I joined in to make s
