Chapter five

I hate Mondays. It's as if the universe conspires against me from the moment I wake up. Today was no exception. I'm stuck in the middle of this infernal traffic, inside a taxi that barely moves. The clock keeps ticking, and anxiety takes over me.

I look at the clock on the taxi dashboard and calculate the lost time. Twenty minutes, at most. Twenty more minutes that separate me from the scolding I know awaits me at the company.

Finally, the taxi starts moving slowly, as if mocking my agony. But every lost second feels like an eternity. I look out the window, watching people hurriedly walking on the sidewalks, free from this torment on wheels.

Finally, I arrive at the company, twenty minutes late, as I feared. I take a deep breath before entering, preparing myself to face the consequences of my lateness.

Your boss is furious today, he asked me to tell you that he's waiting for you.

I'll go then - I shrugged.

Good luck.
