Chapter 6

Freya’s POV

Rowan's face turned an ugly shade of red. Beside him, Selene's perfectly composed expression cracked, her brows knitting together in barely concealed panic.

Rowan stared at the invitation in my hand, his eyes going from disbelief to something that looked almost like recognition. Then his expression twisted into something ugly.

"To get back at me, you really are unscrupulous," he said, stepping forward.

I stared at him in disbelief.

Had he always been like this?

"Do you have delusions?" I scoffed.

"An omega like you couldn't possibly get an invitation," Rowan countered, his voice rising. "You must have stolen it just to approach me. To make me jealous!”

Goodness! He sounded so stupid!

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This was the same man who'd saved me when I was fifteen. I'd been attacked by rogues during an outdoor expedition, and when I woke up, Rowan had been sitting beside me. He'd stayed with me, comforted me, protected me until my pack found me. That's why I'd fallen for him. That's why I'd given him three years of my life.

I never imagined the person I'd always liked could be this arrogant. This cruel.

"Have some self-respect, Freya," Rowan continued, his voice loud enough to draw more attention. "Stop pestering me. It's pathetic."

I opened my mouth to say something hurtful back to him, but Aurora suddenly appeared at my side, her face flushed with anger.

"Someone of your status isn't worthy of Freya pestering you," she said sharply. "Staying with you for even one more minute is disrespectful to herself. Now leave."

Rowan's jaw clenched, and he stepped forward. "I'm a newly crowned alpha. My Luna is the actual female alpha heiress, unlike you who claimed to be. We're more than qualified to be here."

The words female alpha heiress rippled through the crowd like electricity and reminded me of the whips I had to endure.

"A female alpha heiress? Really?"

"I've never seen one before. She's so beautiful."

"The power of that bloodline must be incredible." They whispered.

I noticed how Selene's back immediately straightened, her chin lifting as she basked in the attention. Her eyes swept over the crowd with satisfaction before landing on me and Aurora with pure contempt.

And something inside me snapped!

I couldn't tolerate her impersonating my identity again and again. I couldn’t stand watching her steal what was mine anymore while I stood there silent.

But there was nothing I could do. Couldn’t prove it, couldn’t try. The last time I did….it didn’t end well.

"Of course," I whispered, turning around and walking away to prevent things from escalating.

The ballroom went silent, and every head turned toward me as I walked away. .

"Freya! One last thing?" Rowan’s voice cut through the air, stopping me in my tracks.

"Do something about your loneliness and stop following me around." He added, loud enough for everyone to hear. .

The crowd gasped.

I don’t say a word and just disappear into an empty hallway. I stood there, taking deep breaths and waiting for everyone to forget what just happened before I could get out.

Aurora walked in after a few seconds. “Are you okay?” She asked. “Do we need to leave?” She asked further.

I shook my head, forcing a smile that I hoped looked convincing.“Leave because of Rowan and Selene? No way.” I said as I drew in a deep breath, trying to steady myself.

She didn’t look convinced so I widened the smile, keeping my voice as soft as possible. “I’m really fine. You should go enjoy the ball, I’ll just rest here for a while.” I added.

Her eyes narrowed at me, her lips pressed in a line. “Okay, I’ll catch you later.” She said before walking away.

I stayed there for a while, my thoughts circling around everyone and the way they must be seeing me now that Rowan had told them I’d claimed to be the Alpha heiress like it was something I wasn’t and had never been.

Eventually I took a deep breath and stepped out of the hallway, hoping the moment had passed and the talk had died down.

It hadn’t.

The moment I entered the ballroom, the whispers started up again with every word hitting me in the heart. “That wolfless omega actually thought anyone would believe she was the Alpha heiress?” someone murmured, loud enough for me to hear.

“She is so delusional and jealous of Alpha Rowan’s Luna. That’s definitely why she did what she did, out of jealousy.” Another whispered.

More continued as I walked and I felt the annoyance boiling within me. Something was rising, something distant and I tried so hard to reach for it quietly.

But I couldn’t just like the last time, I had no other choice but to take in all their insults.

“The pathetic little omega is out of her hiding once again.” Selene sneered as she walked towards me.

Why couldn’t she just let me be?

“Get a life.” I lashed at her.

Her face twisted into a scowl, her fists tightening at her sides. “You seem to be asking for another whipping, I’m guessing the last one wasn’t enough.” She hissed.

That was it, my last straw.

I closed my eyes as the rage engulfed me. I felt it immediately. That restless, dangerous power that had been locked away my entire life. It stirred at my call, rising up through my chest like a wave building before it crashed.

The air in the ballroom changed.

It started as pressure. Subtle at first, then growing. An invisible weight pressing down on everyone around me, heavy and ancient and undeniable.

Selene's smile froze on her face.

There was definitely something in me and frustration of being unable to show it was killing me.

A beta near the front of the crowd swayed slightly, his face paling. Another wolf's hand went to his chest, as if he was having trouble breathing under the weight of my aura.

Selene's face had gone white. Her hand clutched Rowan's arm so tightly her knuckles were bone-white.

"It’s her black—" Selene started to say.

But her voice was drowned out by the gasps spreading through the crowd as my aura continued to grow, pressing down on everyone in the ballroom like a storm about to break.

"I think she’s a witch..." someone breathed. "There’s no better explanation for this than witchcraft.”

  • Awakening Of The Hidden Alpha Heiress   GOOD RIDDANCE

Chapter 67Aurora The annoying shrill of my alarm pulled me out of my slumber and I sluggishly sat up on my bed, stretching my sore arms above me as I yawned like a baby hawk. “Ugh..” I grunted as the thought of what I’d be doing today entered my head. I couldn’t believe I’d have to spend more and more time around Daniel. My head was still in the cloud when I heard the doorbell from downstairs. It’s way too early for any visitors and I just prayed silently that it wasn’t Daniel. Anyone but Daniel!I had no time to sit and wish around, so I went into the bathroom to freshen up and then headed downstairs as quickly as I could. If I can get out of this house before my father sets his eyes on me this morning then I’ll definitely escape being around Daniel. “I didn’t think you’d come this morning, seeing how my request was on such short notice.” My father’s voice echoed and I grabbed a wall. “Of course I’d show up at any time, you’re like a father to me after all.” He replied. “Horse

  • Awakening Of The Hidden Alpha Heiress   THE TRAITOR

Chapter 66Caelan Lucian had refused to leave my house and return to wherever it was he’d come from. Having him around grated on me and ever since he’d learned that Freya didn’t know I was the Alpha King, I’d been walking on eggshells. I measured every word, avoided every opening, doing my best not to give him anything that could force him into making a threat.I’d told him I would tell Freya when the time was right, but I knew Lucian well enough to know he could sense there was more I wasn’t saying.I’d totally forgotten what contact with Freya felt like and I couldn’t get over that kiss we had, I wanted more, needed more but of course she had been avoiding talking about it. Pretending like it never happened and I hated it. I was adjusting my shirt in front of the mirror when my phone rang and I picked it up immediately. It was Daren, exactly as I’d expected. “You ready?” I asked, keeping my voice low and even. “Yes sir. I’m in the driveway,” he replied. “Alright. I’ll be do

  • Awakening Of The Hidden Alpha Heiress   ANNOYING MUM

Chapter 65Freya“And that’s not even the best part, I’ll be thrilled to tell everyone here exactly what you’re up to, lord Margolis, because judging from the kind of life you live, you have absolutely no right to speak to me about putting the council at risk!” Lord Margolis recoiled in his chair, shock etched all over his face but I was far from being done. “Oh you want to speak of dragging the council in the mud, while we’re at it, why don’t we discuss your constant visits to the brothel in the outskirts of the clan?” I asked firmly, my eyes glued to his face without an iota of fear. “That’s enough young lady!” He barked, slamming his fist into the table. His audacious voice snapped something in me and I felt a pang in my chest. For a moment all I could think of was to lunge at him and rip his eyes off of his face, but I felt a cold hand on my thigh. The hand rubbed gently and I leaned back on my chair, resting my back properly as my blood cooled off. “It seems everyone has a

  • Awakening Of The Hidden Alpha Heiress   WHAT YOU DO REPRESENT THE COUNCIL

Chapter 64Freya As much as I dreaded it, the day of the council meeting finally arrived. The one that would likely decide my fate and whether I’d still have a place on the council after the humiliation of taking part in the preliminary training. I dragged myself out of bed and made my way sluggishly to the bathroom, where the warmth of the water against my skin jolted me awake. But it didn’t change the knot in my stomach. I still didn’t want to go, especially knowing that once I stepped into that room, I’d be the topic everyone was waiting to discuss. There was a knock on the door as soon as I was done getting dressed. I rolled my eyes in frustration, the smell of jasmine filling my nose even before I opened it. Iris. “It’s too early please, what do you want?” I asked, pulling the door open. A small grin played at the corner of her mouth, the kind that never showed up unless she was about to say something annoying and I already knew whatever came next wouldn’t be good news.S

  • Awakening Of The Hidden Alpha Heiress   YOUR DAD IS A DICK

Chapter 63AuroraThe moment I stepped onto the front porch, I heard my father’s voice echoing through the entire mansion. But this wasn’t the usual yelling at a servant or screaming into his phone. For the first time in forever, he was actually laughing. I gritted my teeth as I inhaled sharply and pushed the front door open. I prayed silently for no one to notice me as I slipped through the hallway and headed towards the stairs. “Get ready Aurora!” My father ordered and I froze, “you’ll be leaving with Daniel in less than an hour..” I turned around and stormed into the living room, my eyes swiftly sweeping through the room like a dart. “Father, the training isn’t even until sundown, why do I have to leave now?”“I’m sure the two of you have some catching up to do, so it’s best if you get some time to yourself before the main training starts.” He said as he pulled himself up from the sofa. “I’ll be in my office..” that was his cue to walk away, leaving just Daniel and I in the li

Chapter 62AuroraI gritted my teeth as a soft chuckle tumbled out of my mouth. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead and I slowly wiped them off with the back of my hand, despite the ac in the room. “What are you doing here Daniel?” I scowled. “That’s not a really nice way to welcome your guest now, is it?” His voice echoed irritatingly. “Welcome my guest?” I scoffed, “you’re even more delusional than my father..” “You don’t seem happy to see me..” Daniel sneered, folding his arms over his chest as he tried to close the distance between us. “Don’t even get any closer to me Daniel..” I snapped and his legs paused. “What even gave you the audacity, to think in that small mind of yours, that I’ll be excited to be in the same space with you?” “Well for starters, we haven’t seen each other in a really long time and judging from how close we used to be, I just thought you’d want to catch up for old times sake at least..” His feigned innocence bore into my soul like a burning dagger a
