تسجيل الدخولChapter 101AuroraThe night drew closer and my heart pounded in my chest but I reassured myself that nothing would go wrong. The cameras were in place, Freya was on standby while Marcus kept tabs. As for Caelan, I haven’t heard from him since we parted at the florist’s store. I already freshened up and my night robe trailed behind me as I paced slowly from one end of the room to the other. Daniel was still speaking with some people I didn’t recognize outside but I already dropped a text that we needed to talk and I knew he’d rush in any moment from now. My phone buzzed and I jerked, almost jumping out of my skin. I rolled my eyes and walked over to the table where the phone lay. Freya’s name lit up the screen and I glanced at the door before picking it up. “Hey..” I muttered“How’s it going? Is he there yet?” She asked and I rolled my eyes “Freya, you think if Daniel was in here I’d take this call to tell you whether or not he is?” I shot back impatiently. “Right… you’re right
Chapter 100CaelanThe shrill sound from my phone tore through the silence of my evening nap and I lazily dragged myself up from the bed. I would have ignored the call, but the persistence of the caller only made me believe this was an emergency and my mind flew to Freya. I groped around and finally found my phone hidden under one of my pillows. Daren. “What’s he calling me for?” I groaned as I took the call, lifting the phone to my ear. “I’ve been trying to reach you sir, there’s something I need you to see.” He blurted quickly and I sat up on the bed, rubbing my eyes. “Isn’t it something that can be said over the phone?” I grumbled. “I’m afraid not, sir. It’s about the witch..” Those words washed off all that was left of the sleep in my eyes. “Where are you?” I asked. “Downstairs sir.” He responded and I jumped down the bed. “Give me ten minutes.” I ordered and ended the call. I freshened up, changed into a pair of jeans and a shirt. There was no time to take care of my hai
Chapter 99FreyaI always suspected something like this would come up, especially after Aurora asked me to come stay with her. I knew her father and Daniel would insist that the wedding be rushed to avoid anything I might do to thwart their plans. But what they don’t understand is that they may be playing checkers, but I’m not just playing chess. I’m going to ruin the hell out of Daniel’s life, he’ll crawl back into the shell he spawned out from. Aurora argued with her father about the ritual of light but I knew she was wasting her time, so I crept back upstairs to her room the same way I crept down to listen and picked up my phone from the vanity. The first person I called was Marcus and as if he was already expecting my call, he answered immediately. “Hey, any update?” He asked and I made sure the door was shut before speaking. “There’s a bit of a hassle over here. Her father brought the elder for the ritual of light..” I said and I heard him hold his breath. “Isn’t that suppo
Chapter 98AuroraFreya wasn’t going to say anything and even though I was too curious to let it go, I had to focus on a more pressing issue at the moment. After all of this is over, we’ll sit and talk about this one. As the cab pulled over in front of the estate, something dropped into my stomach heavily. I turned to Freya who was scrolling on her phone and as if she could feel what I felt, she lifted her head. “What’s the matter honey?” Her soft voice echoed and I groaned. “Nothing, Freya. I’m just glad I snapped out of that delusion of mine before it was already too late”Freya smiled warmly, ran her thumb across my cheek and said nothing afterwards. We got down from the cab, I handed him his payment and we strolled into the estate like nothing happened. I played my part as the anticipating bride, smiling and giggling at everything despite the fire burning in my chest. “There she is..” Daniel’s voice echoed from a corner. I took a deep breath before lifting my eyes to his face
Chapter 97FreyaAurora finally stopped sobbing. Marcus still held her hand gently, his eyes carried a lot of unsaid rage and it gladdens my heart. “What do you have with him?” He asked and Caelan looked up at me, completely dazed. “He doesn’t know?” Caelan asked and I shook my head, my hand flying to my head. “I didn’t tell him. I mean I couldn’t tell him, I knew if I did he’d stay away from Aurora and I didn’t want that to happen because I really hoped a day like this would come..” I sighed, running my fingers around my chin. “I don’t understand…” Marcus cut in, his eyes traveling between Caelan and I, “what did you not tell me?” I turned to Aurora, her bloodshot eyes stared back at me in pure despair. “It’ll be best if you heard from the horse’s mouth.” I muttered. She took a deep breath and turned to face Marcus. “Daniel proposed marriage to me and my father supported him because of the age-old friendship between his father and my father. And because I thought I wasn’t ove
Chapter 96FreyaThe second Aurora disappeared back inside, I yanked my phone out and checked my messages.Nothing from Marcus. I shoved it back into my purse and started pacing the driveway. The weather was perfect. The flowers along the walkway were gorgeous. The estate looked like it belonged on the cover of some fancy lifestyle magazine. But I was barely paying attention to them. My stomach wouldn't stop churning. Aurora had finally said it out loud.Daniel hit her.I kept hearing it over and over, like a song stuck on repeat that I couldn't shake. He didn’t yell at her or call her names like he used to. Nor did he twist her mind around. He actually laid his hands on her. My biggest fear had already happened. My jaw tightened until it ached.Five minutes alone with that man and I'd be gladly looking at a felony charge. The front door finally swung open and Aurora came out wearing a smile that stopped somewhere around her cheekbones."Sorry about that," she said. "My father want
