Nolan's POV

The pink light was blinding.

It erupted from the ground itself, a massive pillar of energy that sent the vampires flying backward.

They hit the walls, the ground, each other—scattered like leaves in a hurricane.

Giselle stumbled, shielding her eyes.

"What... what is that?"

I knew.

Even before I saw her.

Even before the light dimmed enough to reveal her figure.

Isabella.

She stood in the center of the courtyard, hands outstretched, belly swollen, eyes glowing pure pink.

Nolan's POV The pink light was blinding. It erupted from the ground itself, a massive pillar of energy that sent the vampires flying backward. They hit the walls, the ground, each other—scattered like leaves in a hurricane. Giselle stumbled, shielding her eyes. "What... what is that?" I knew. Even before I saw her. Even before the light dimmed enough to reveal her figure. Isabella. She stood in the center of the courtyard, hands outstretched, belly swollen, eyes glowing pure pink. Power radiated from her in waves. "I told you to stay in the safe room," I said hoarsely. "And I told you I wouldn't let everyone die while I hid." Her voice was different. Layered. Like her wolf was speaking through her. "Not anymore." Giselle recovered first. "The pink wolf. Finally." She smiled despite the fear in her eyes. "I was wondering when you'd show yourself." "You wanted me?" Isabella took a step forward. "Here I am." "Isabella, don't..." I started. "Stay back, Nolan." She didn'

Isabella's POV The door to my room slammed open. Kieran stood there, already shifted halfway—his eyes gold, claws extended, chest heaving. "We need to move. Now." "I saw her. Giselle. She's..." "A vampire. Yes. We figured that out." He grabbed my arm and pulled me toward the door. "She brought an army. Fifty rogues. At least twenty vampires. Maybe more." "Where's Nolan?" "Fighting. Where else?" He guided me down the hallway. "Your mother is with the Lycan King's reinforcements trying to hold the eastern flank. But they're outnumbered." We reached the stairs and I had to stop. My belly was too heavy. My legs too unsteady. "I can't move fast enough." "Then I'll carry you." "You need to fight..." "I need to keep you alive." He scooped me up like I weighed nothing. "Hold on." He took the stairs three at a time. Around us, the pack house was chaos. Servants running. Warriors shifting. The smell of blood and smoke everywhere. A window exploded above us. Glass rained down a

Isabella's POV Training with my mother started at dawn. She led me to a clearing deep in the forest, far from the pack house where no one could accidentally get hurt. "Your power responds to emotion," she explained, gesturing for me to stand in the center of the clearing. "Fear, anger, love... especially love for your child. That's why it exploded during the battle." I pressed my hand to my swollen belly. "So how do I control it?" "By understanding it first." She circled me slowly. "Pink wolves are healers, yes. But we're also destroyers when necessary. Life and death. Creation and destruction. Two sides of the same coin." "That's... comforting." She smiled. "When you give birth, both aspects will awaken fully. The healing you've already touched. But the destructive power?" She stopped in front of me. "That's what we need to prepare for." "What if I can't control it?" "Then everyone in a half-mile radius dies." She said it matter-of-factly. "Including your child. Including

  • Awakening The Pink Wolf    Chapter 14: Bring It On, Giselle

Isabella's POV The sounds of battle raged outside the pack house. Snarling. Screaming. The crash of bodies colliding. I pressed harder against the pillar with my hand on my quiet belly. "Stay with me, little one. Just stay with me." A faint flutter answered. Weak but there. My baby was exhausted. I'd drained us both healing the pack. A silver wolf crashed through the main doors. Not Giselle. One of her corrupted allies. Its eyes were red. Vampire-tainted. It spotted me immediately and lunged. I threw up my hands instinctively. Pink light flickered weakly. Barely a shield. The wolf hit it and stumbled but didn't stop. I couldn't hold it. "Isabella!" Kieran's massive lycan form barreled into the wolf from the side. They crashed across the floor in a blur of fur and claws. My brother's jaws found the wolf's throat. One savage bite and it went limp. Kieran shifted back, naked and covered in blood. "Are you hurt?" "No. But the baby..." I pressed my

  • Awakening The Pink Wolf    Chapter 13: The Pack Needs Me

Isabella's POV The pink glow. My baby was screaming danger at me through our bond. Close. The threat was close. I pressed my hand to my stomach. "I know, little one. I feel it too." More shouts echoed through the pack house. Wolves running. Some howling in pain or confusion. Whatever was affecting them was spreading fast. I moved to the window and looked out. The border patrols were stumbling. Falling. Some shifted involuntarily... their wolves confused and disoriented. And in the darkness beyond the tree line, I saw movement. Silver fur. Giselle. She was doing this somehow. Attacking the pack from the inside out. My door handle rattled. I spun around with my heart hammering. "Isabella! Open up!" Nolan. I unlocked the door and he burst in with wild eyes. "We need to get you out of here. Now." "What's happening?" "Some kind of poison or spell. It's in the air. The water. We don't know. But it's making wolves sick. Weak." He grabbed my arm. "You need to leave before

  • Awakening The Pink Wolf    Chapter 12: Matters Arising

Isabella's POV The pink glow wouldn't stop. It came again. Had no control over it. I pressed my hands against my belly but the light just pulsed brighter. Like my baby was trying to communicate something urgent. "Make it stop," I whispered. Nolan paced my room like a caged animal. "This is because you overused your power. Healing all those wolves drained you and now the baby is..." "The baby is what?" I snapped. "Trying to tell me something!" The glow intensified and suddenly I felt it. Fear. Not my fear. The baby's fear. My unborn child was terrified. "Something's wrong," I gasped. "Get the healer. Now!" Nolan was out the door before I finished speaking. I sank onto the bed and tried to calm my racing heart. "It's okay, little one. Mama's here. You're safe." But the pink glow didn't fade. If anything, it got brighter. Images flashed through my mind. Not my memories. The baby's. I saw through eyes that hadn't opened yet. Felt things from inside the womb. Darkness. C
