CHAPTER ONE

Bella

"You are useless!" Phill roared, pushing me to the floor.

I fell to the hard tiles, hurting my knee while crying.

"How dare you ignore her order? She asked you for a drink, and you refused?! How dare you?!" Phill yelled.

I felt so scared that I had to stay down, crying out of fear that he'd hurt me further.

"She's useless, my love. Let her stay there on the floor where she belongs," Isabel, my husband's girlfriend, said, calming Phill.

I lifted my eyes to see Phill and Isabel kissing, as she convinced him to ignore me, mocking me at the same time.

"Just leave her. Let's head inside and get down to business," Isabel said, caressing his chest in my presence.

I felt my heart weaken on seeing how Phill drooled over Isabel's words and touch. It made me wish he had shown all this love to me in our three years of marriage.

"You're right. Let's go," he decided, glaring at me.

"She's nothing but a useless woman," he insulted, grabbing Isabel from the waist and walking away with her.

I watched them leave the living room while slowly rising from the floor. I felt my knee hurting, revealing that I had a bruise already.

My tears came flowing out, unable to stay back. But I couldn't bear the fact that my husband hates me because his family arranged for me to be his wife.

"How is it my fault?" I sobbed, making my way up the stairs.

When I approached the bedroom, I could hear sounds coming from the inside.

It was the voice of Isabel moaning to Phill's thrusts.

Her voice echoed around the mansion, causing not just me but also the helpers to feel irritated.

"Oh Yes! Faster, my love! Faster!" She screamed louder, moaning out.

This broke me deeply, sending my feet running down the hall of the floor to my room.

I had my hands covering my ears to block the moaning voice of Isabel.

She's having fun with my husband while I'm being treated like a nobody.

When I ran into my room, crying out my heart, I suddenly felt strange within, sending me falling to my knees.

"What's wrong with me?" I groaned, holding my head, which was suddenly hurting.

"This isn't the first time I'm feeling this. I have to head to the hospital and know what's wrong," I decided, feeling uncomfortable. I got myself ready and snuck out of the house, begging the servants not to tell Phill where I went.

I know once he's done having fun with Isabel, he'll want to start his torment on me.

"Before he steps out, I'll be back," I assured myself, heading down to the hospital.

When I got there, I met Doctor Zane, who immediately took me in, asking me some questions.

"I really can't explain it. All I know is that I've been having aches in my head and chest for some time now. I feel it's stress," I assumed.

"Well, Mrs. Coleman, you can't just assume that. You'll have to run some tests to check exactly what's wrong," he suggested.

I didn't want to run the tests because of money, but with the way I was feeling, I had to accept it.

"Sure, I will take the test," I agreed.

"Good. I'll get the nurse and tell her to run a few tests on you," he decided, snapping at a nurse who came in next.

The nurse took me to the lab room and ran some tests on me. I had my eyes on the time as I began to panic, wondering what Phill would do if he discovered I was missing.

After waiting for almost forty-five minutes, the doctor came to meet me.

I stood up to hear him, getting worried at the same time.

"Please, Doctor, what does the report say? I need to head home before my......"

"You have cancer, Mrs. Coleman," he revealed.

My heart skipped a beat when I heard him.

"What?"

"Yes, you have cancer. And I'm so sorry to say this, but you have only a month to live."

My whole world came crumbling, sending me falling back on the bench I was sitting on.

"I have just a month to live?" Tears filled my eyes as I realized that I'd be leaving this earth as a broken woman with a failed marriage.

The doctor apologized once again, advising that I tell Phill.

But I had no plans of telling Phill. Even if I did tell him, he'd be so happy.

"Phill," I uttered his name, having an idea pop into my head.

"Maybe... Just maybe," I sighed.

.

"Where have you been?" Phill questioned, standing close to the door with Isabel. Both were in their nightwear, staring at me with disgust.

I had my report hidden in my bag as I gulped down my saliva and said to Phill, "I have something for you, Phill."

Phill and Isabel scoffed, asking what I could have for them.

I sighed, holding back my bitterness.

"I am ready to sign the divorce papers," I said.

Phill and Isabel's eyes twinkled with delight upon hearing me.

"At last you came to your senses," Isabel laughed at me.

"This is the best news I've heard in a long time. I thought you'd never use your brain, " Phill scoffed.

Looking at his face became a problem. I lowered my head down and said, "I will divorce you as you want, but only on one condition."

"A condition?" He lifted his brow at me.

I nodded.

"Yes, just one condition, and that's it," I said.

"Rubbish. I smell a trap here. Don't listen to her," Isabel pointed, trying to make things hard for me.

But Phill showed his interest in hearing me out.

"What is it?" he asked.

"We'll have to be a real couple for one month. If you can do this, then I'll divorce you afterwards. Do we have a deal?"

Phill moved forward and grabbed me by my neck, I couldn't breathe; my leg was hanging mid-air.
