LOGINKAYLA'S POV.
"Uncle Gabriel?" I called again, my heart about to give out on me. All he did was release a low sigh, before stretching out his hand with a glass of water in it. "You should take some aspirins." He said, stretching forth the other hand that had two pills in it. "You had so much to drink last night." "Are you being for real?!" I yelled in disbelief. "What the hell am I doing here? In your bed? How the hell did I get here?!!" I asked, wanting to pull my hair from my scalp already. "Take them." He insisted, acting like I didn't just have a literal meltdown. "You slept with me!" I wasn't asking. I was smart enough to know what the stains on his bed meant. "You asked for it!" He shot back. "BEGGED for it." He let out a humourless chuckle. "Asked me not to reject you. Asked me to MAKE LOVE TO YOU." "And you listened to a drunk woman?! You're my husband's uncle!" I said, not able to believe him in that moment. What mess had I gotten myself into? This was a predicament! I would have said he and Jeffery had planned this, but Jeffery hated the man to his bones. I looked down in shame, praying for the strength to sort out this mess. Could it even be sorted?! "Fine." I swallowed, thinking of a very reasonable way to reconcile this issue. "We both made a mistake, and we would both forget it ever happened." I nodded in agreement with my solution. Looking around the insanely large room, I found my dress neatly folded on a couch. Shamefully making my way there in my naked state, I quickly threw on my dress, and picked my phone from the night stand. My heart dropped in guilt, when I saw that Jeffery had called me. I started making my way out, but Gabriel blocked my path. "Where are you going?" He asked. Was he being serious? I was going home! "I'm going home. We have sorted this out already." I said, an annoying tone of fear in my voice. "Are you sure we have?" He smirked, holding my eyes with his. "If you think I would act like I wasn't your first, then you are a big joker." Oh God. "I don't know what you mean." I feigned ignorance, but he just laughed in amusement and walked to the bed. Lifting off the duvet, he displayed the red stains on the sheets. "I know I'm big, sweetie..... but you were tight as hell last night." He whispered, making me swallow hard beneath his gaze. "Being tight is not a...." "You literally said, 'Easy. Never done this before', while I penetrated you yesterday." He said, shutting me up completely. I said that?! "You have been married to Jeffrey for two years now....." He trailed off, observing me closely. I knew where he was headed, and I wasn't going to take this particular bait. Never. I wouldn't humiliate myself before him or anyone else. "You took advantage of my drunken state. Shame on you." I whispered. "Shame on you too, for being a drunk slut." He shot back, but I just stared at this man in shock. He was truly completely a different person now. Italy had done so much to him. "Take those pills, and I'll tell you how this thing between us would go from now on." "There is no 'us'! And you can shove your cocaine-infested aspirins down your mafian throat!" "Ohhh, there was an 'us' the moment I took you and realized you were still a virgin. A married virgin." He slowly said the last words, looking but intrigued and amused. "And this thing between us will continue. Whenever I want it, wherever I want it. Might I add, 'however'?" "You really are sick!" I gritted out, walking out of his room angrily. At the living room, I found my bag lying on the couch, and I picked it. I rushed out of his place, his housekeeper staring at me like I had something of her's! I booked a ride back to the club, and took my car with me. All the way back home, I wondered how exactly Gabriel was in Newyork. I wondered how annoying fate could be, to have brought me to such a disgraceful point in my life. I slept with uncle Gabriel! Just as I stepped out of shower, my phone rang and I checked to see it was Grandpa Zach. "Hello." "My darling. Why don't I see you around with the others?" He asked, making me confused. "Around?" "Of course. We all are making preparations and decorating the manor against Gabriel's welcome party tonight." "Uncle Ga... Gabriel?" I stuttered. "Clearly, your husband may have forgotten to mention." He sighed. "Your uncle in-law is to return to Newyork today, and we are hosting a welcome party in his honour, seeing as he is back to reside permanently." "Oh...." My voice broke, unsure how to feel about this new information. He was coming to..... stay? And here I was I would never see him again after this. "I would be at the manor shortly, Grandpa." I said, before hanging up the call. Grandpa Zach was Jeffrey's grandfather, and Gabriel's father. For unknown reasons, the relationship between Grandpa and Gabriel hadn't always been great, which had me wondering why the man was suddenly hosting a welcome party for him. Clearly, no one had an idea Gabriel was already back in the country. They all thought he was arriving tonight, which is also what I would think from now on. I haven't seen or spoken, or done any other thing...... with him before tonight. Dressing to leave the house for the manor, I made a mental note to stop by a pharmacy and get some after sex pills. I couldn't let myself be careless both ways now. I seriously regretted my actions last night, and definitely wouldn't add more cause for regret. Once I had sorted myself at the pharmacy, I headed for the manor. As soon as I got to the manor, a message popped up on my phone from an unsaved number. Frowning slightly, I tapped open the message, and my breath hitched the moment I read. 'This is my number, save it. Remember, whenever, wherever, and however I want it'. Nahhhh.... this man had to be incredibly insane! Nuts!! What the hell had I gotten myself into?TWO WEEKS LATER.KAYLA'S POVIt was crazy all that could happen in such a short period of time.A few days ago, we had all been in court, because mom had insisted. I did feel sorry for Joana, but going to court to show her my support...? I didn't really want to.But when mom had mentioned that she literally had no one else, seeing as Lillian had also been arrested for attempted murder against me, I changed my mind. Joana had been charged with the attempted murder of Jeffery, and also liaising with the Abel Gardiner guy for releasing the nude videos of she and Jeffery. She had been asked to serve four years in prison, but the attorney that Dad had provided for her pleaded to send her to a mental facility instead, seeing as she had actually been very unstable during and after the whole incident. I genuinely didn't think that was a lie though. She wasn't even herself during the court hearing and at some point, looking at her made me want to cry.I didn't ever believe I'd feel sorry for
THIRD PERSON’S POV "In the course of our investigations over the past few days." Detective Adams began. "We have reason to believe there is a connection between Mrs. Pearson’s car accident and her husband’s disappearance." Silence settled heavily over the room. After a moment, Kayla found her voice. "So… what does this mean, Officer?" She asked, panic threading through her words. "The driver whose vehicle collided with yours has confessed." Detective Adams said. "He admitted he was paid to cause the accident." Amelia’s eyes widened. Her heart lurched as a single thought echoed in her mind. 'Please don’t let it be her. Please don’t let Joana be involved'. "He was hired by a woman named Lillian Crawford." The detective continued. "The same woman we have identified as the mother of your stepsister, Joana." "Jesus Christ!" Luca burst out, fury blazing across his face. "Miss Crawford is currently in police custody and has given a full statement." Detective Adams said calmly. "
THIRD PERSON'S POV"Mama, why aren't you living with Daddy?" Joana asked her mother. "Just like mom." She added. She was only five then, back home with her mother for the holidays. She barely got to see the woman, but whenever she did, she was excited. She didn't like this new arrangement of staying with her father and his family. They were undoubtedly nice and sweet to her, but she missed her mama."Like your stepmother, your mean?" Lilian spat, unable to help the hatred in her voice. "So you call her 'mom', now?""She is nice to me. And she doesn't yell." Little Joana replied innocently, fluttering her lashes. That only seemed to aggravate Lillian even more."Now, listen to me, Joana!" She yelled, just the same way that always made Joana feel sad. "You are not supposed to like her! You should hate her. Hate her daughter! She is the reason why your father and I are not together like you want." She spat, filling Joana's head with silly notions. She was an obsessive freak. She had lov
A WEEK AGO.THIRD PERSON'S POV Joana quietly slipped back into her apartment in the middle of the night. With all the chaos currently happening, and she and her mother's failure to steal the company from her father an his family, she had been on a low.Even worse, she knew Jeffery had figured her out, and he now had the knowledge that she was the one who leaked those videos of them. He also knew she was shagging Abel, and was responsible for the fake photos of Kayla. He had sent countless threatening texts in the past weeks. Texts she didn't have the guts to reply. How he found out, she did not know. But what she knew was that he wasn't going to be so pleased to see her after realizing all she had done.As Joana locked the door behind her, the lights in the dark living suddenly came on, and she froze in her spot. There was only one person who had access to this house as well. Jeffery. But it was midnight. How the hell was he here?!Her heart started to beat faster as she slowly tu
KAYLA'S POV "This is all a lot to take in." Mom shook her head in disbelief. "I can't believe Zach would do something like that! You both were just kids, for crying out loud."All the while, Dad just stood there in silence, lost in his own thoughts. Mom looked at the letters in her hand again, shaking her head in disappointment. Apparently, Gabriel had been carrying the letters in his pocket, with the intent of explaining everything to me today.Turns out his father had beat him to it."Hmm." Dad released a deep sigh, before looking at Gabriel. "I have always liked you for Kayla." He began. That wasn't what I expected. "I may not really like how things had gone between you both, but that doesn't mean I am blind to how genuine the feelings between you both are. And I truly want to believe this is meant to be. Even after eight years and all the external efforts to put you both apart, somehow you still made your way back to each other.""Dad." I whispered, getting teary now."You have
GABRIEL'S POV Kayla's parents and I made our way into the hospital after the smooth press conference. The situation of things had been clarified to our minor shareholders and investors, and it was safe to say that the company's business had been fully settled now.But I knew we had more business to settle after this. The awkward tension between Kayla's parents and I these past few days had been very palpable. "Thank you so much for today, Gabriel. And always." Aunt Amelia suddenly said to me, patting my arm affectionately. "It's nothing, Aunt." I shook my head. We both shared a look and she pulled her hand away, that awkward tension returning. Just great!I was worried that with the way at which things were going, I may risk losing two of the people who had always been supportive and cared for me. I just hoped everything could be resolved with Kayla, without it causing an injury on my relationship with her parents. We got to the female ward where Kayla had been transferred to yes
