DESIRE AND DECIET

EVA’S POV

It’s 5:45pm, I had just finished bathing and was ready to crawl into bed. All I wanted was a few hours of peaceful sleep to silence the storm in my head. My body ached for rest as I pulled the blanket over me and closed my eyes.

But just as my head touched the pillow, my phone buzzed.

Annoyed, I reached for it, swiping up lazily to check the message.

It was from Lucas.

Lucas: “I want raw sex—no condom, no protection. I want to release my seed in you. You can sort yourself out with contraceptive pills. You know the usual venue.”

My heart skipped. A strange mix of excitement and guilt curled in my stomach. I had promised myself a night of rest, a night without him. But now, sleep seemed like a distant thought.

Because the truth was simple—I couldn’t say no to Lucas.

Not when he wanted me this way.

As I got into the room, Lucas didn't want to be patient, he unzipped my blouse while kissing me in places that made my brain turn to mush. He went from my neck to my face, lips down to my boobs, he kept going down and I didn't want him to stop.

Our lips met again in a heated kiss, desperate, searching. It wasn’t soft or hesitant; it was filled with the urgency of two hungry people seeking comfort in each other. Lucas’ hands roamed my back, pulling me even closer, while I melted in his embrace.

One kiss turned into another. Then another. Before I could even hesitate , reason was lost, clothes were thrown out, I wrapped my legs around his torso gripping it while stroking his cock passionately. Lucas trailed kisses on my face, neck and myerected nipples.

Lucas continues trailing hot kisses down my neck, breasts, belly and down to my sensitive spot leaving obvious hickeys.

“Oh Lucas” I moaned loudly as I dug my nails into his shoulder leaving vivid marks but he didn’t seem to care. He slid three fingers into my pussy, the pleasure shot through me like bolts of electricity but he didn’t stop , his hands sliding in and out of me as I moaned my lungs out. Just as I was about to get to my climax, he pulled out and flipped me over slammed his hard, erect dick into me. Iscreamed as the pain shot through me but it seemed that Lucas wasn’t hearing me as he even increased his pace but I quickly adjusted to his size, the pain getting replaced by pleasure as our bodies slammed against each other, I shook wildly as I reached my orgasm. Lucas held me tightly as he reached his climax and released his seed in me. We both collapsed on the bed exhausted by the steamy sex we just had.

I didn’t cry.

Not when I pulled my dress over my head. Not when I slipped my heels back on and heard the soft exhale of Lucas asleep in his bed. Not even when I read Henry’s text again…

Miss you. Can’t wait to wake up next to you tomorrow.

Instead, I felt… nothing.

Or maybe too much of everything at once.

Shame, hunger, confusion, guilt, they all tangled inside me until I couldn’t tell them apart anymore. Like a storm that started quiet and was now swallowing me whole.

Lucas stirred behind me.

“You’re still here.” His voice was low and thick with sleep. But there was a smile in it too. Like he already knew I couldn’t stay away.

I glanced over my shoulder. “Not for long.”

He propped himself on one elbow, the sheet sliding off his body like a secret being revealed. Gosh, he looked like temptation had a face. Muscles carved under golden skin. Hair tousled. Eyes that made you forget who you were.

He was everything I wasn’t supposed to want.

But I did.

“I’ll see you again, won’t I?” he asked casually.

He already knew the answer.

“Lucas…” My voice caught. “This can’t keep happening.”

He shrugged. “Then stop.”

I hated how easy he made it sound. Like I could just walk away. Like this thing between us wasn’t tearing me in two.

“I have a life,” I whispered. “I have someone who—who believes in me.”

Lucas swung his legs out of the bed and stood, walking toward me. I could feel the heat radiating from his skin, smell the whiskey still on his breath. He leaned down, just close enough for his lips to brush my ear.

“So why do you keep coming back to me?”

My heart pounded. My knees trembled. And just like always, I didn’t have an answer.

Because I didn’t know.

Or maybe I did and I didn’t want to face it.

I turned away, grabbed my purse, and walked to the door. I didn’t say goodbye.

Because if I did, I might never leave.

***

The elevator ride down felt like slow death.

By the time I stepped into the parking garage, I was shaking. Not from cold. From truth.

This wasn’t just sex anymore.

It hadn’t been for a while.

Lucas wasn’t just Henry’s boss. He wasn’t just a mistake.

He was mine. The one I knew would ruin everything and still couldn’t let go of.

I climbed into my car, and just as I turned the ignition, my phone buzzed again.

HENRY: Change of plans. Breakfast in bed tomorrow. Got something to tell you. It’s important.

I stared at the screen for a long time.

Important?

What could be so important that he was texting me twice tonight?

I didn’t reply. I couldn’t. Not when the scent of another man was still on my skin.

I drove home in silence.

***

When I walked into the apartment, the lights were off but the hallway lamp was glowing softly. Henry always left it on for me.

He was asleep on the couch, a blanket around his shoulders, his laptop still open. A playlist hummed quietly in the background. Something gentle. Something safe.

He looked peaceful.

Like someone who’d never imagine his girlfriend had just come from another man’s bed.

I walked past him slowly, guilt clawing at my insides.

But just as I reached the hallway—

“Eva?”

His voice startled me.

I turned, heart skipping. “Hey… sorry. Didn’t mean to wake you.”

He sat up, rubbing his eyes. “You’re late.”

I faked a smile. “Naomi was going through something. Breakup. We talked for hours.”

His eyes searched mine. For a second, I thought he saw it. The lie. The truth. The war inside me.

But then he just nodded. “You should’ve called. I was worried.”

I walked over and kissed his cheek. “I’m here now.”

“I missed you,” he said, pulling me gently into his lap.

And for a second—I let him hold me.

Because part of me did miss this. The way he made me feel like I was the only thing that mattered. The way he loved me without question.

But it wasn’t enough.

Not anymore.

“I was going to wait until morning,” he said suddenly, reaching for something behind the couch cushion. “But I guess now is as good a time as any.”

He pulled out a small black box.

My breath caught.

“What is that?” I whispered, even though I already knew.

He opened it slowly.

A diamond. Classic cut. Elegant. Too perfect.

My stomach dropped.

“I want to marry you, Eva.”

My hands started to shake. “Henry, I…”

“You don’t have to answer now,” he said quickly. “I just… I wanted you to know how serious I am. About us. About our future.”

I wanted to scream. To confess. To stop this before it went too far.

But instead, I smiled

Because the truth was too ugly to speak aloud.

“I…I need some air,” I mumbled, rushing to the balcony before he could say another word.

I leaned over the railing, gripping the cold metal with both hands.

He wanted forever.

And I couldn’t even give him honesty.

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    CRACKS IN THE AFFAIR

As the party wrapped up and people began to say their goodbyes, I was still in shock from the news, and now Lucas was nowhere to be found after he made the announcement. Just then, Henry approached me.'Hey, Eva, it's getting late,' Henry said. 'Time to head home, I think.''I think you're right,' I replied.'Shall we?' Henry asked, gesturing toward the door.I nodded, and we joined the others heading out.The drive home was a silent blur. Henry steered through the city streets with gentle concentration, his hand resting on mine. I stared out the window, the streets’ lights dancing past like distant memories. The party’s clamor still echoed behind my eyelids—Lucas’s announcement ringing in my head, the anonymous warning text pulsing in my pocket. When we pulled into the driveway, I was so exhausted I could barely lift my feet.Henry helped me inside and guided me to bed. “You need rest,” he murmured, brushing a loose strand of hair from my face. I nodded, my limbs heavy as stone, and

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    THE WEIGHT OF SILENCE

Eva's POVHenry’s voice reached me like a slow echo from a distant shore. “Eva,” he said, placing a hand on my arm. “Is everything okay with you?”I turned to him, blinking as if I had just woken up. My chest tightened, and I forced a smile that didn’t quite reach my eyes.“Yeah,” I said, brushing imaginary lint off my dress. “I’m fine. Just… surprised. Lucas, getting engaged? I didn’t see that coming.”He studied me for a second longer than felt comfortable, his eyes searching mine like he was trying to read a hidden message. “You sure? You seemed more than just surprised. You looked like you saw a ghost.”I laughed, soft and forced. “Don’t be dramatic.”But even as the words left my mouth, I could feel the tremble in my voice. I wasn’t okay. Not really. Something inside me had shifted the moment Lucas said those words. I could still hear them—ringing in my head like a bell I couldn’t silence.I tried to shake it off. Tried to focus on the music, on the people still clapping and chee

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    THE ANNOUNCEMENT

HENRY’S POVThe sun broke through the curtains in thin, golden rays, spilling over our room like a promise of peace. But I knew today wouldn’t be peaceful. It was the day of the company event, the one Lucas had called while Eva and I were still in Paris.I stood by the window, already dressed in a clean, pressed suit. My tie was neatly knotted, but I kept adjusting it like it was the reason for the tightness in my chest. Behind me, Eva stirred in bed."You're up early," she said, her voice groggy.I turned and gave her a soft smile. "Yeah. Big day today. The meeting. The one Lucas called."She sat up slowly, the sheets falling from her shoulders. Her eyes were still heavy with sleep, but I could already see the storm building behind them."He couldn't wait until after our honeymoon?" she asked, rubbing her temple. "Seriously, babe."I walked over and sat beside her. "I know. It threw me off too. But he's the boss. Whatever he wants to announce, it must be important."She looked away,

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    BACK TO LOS ANGELES

EVA’S POVI stared out the window as the taxi pulled away from the hotel, the early morning fog still clinging to the edges of Paris. The city was quiet, like it hadn’t woken up yet. I held my hands together tightly in my lap, my fingers cold despite the warmth of the car. This wasn’t how I imagined our honeymoon ending.Just yesterday, we were wrapped in soft blankets, watching old movies with croissants on our laps and chocolate on our fingers. Now, barely twenty-four hours later, we were packed and heading to the airport. All because Lucas had called for an emergency meeting. The tone of the message said it all. Mandatory. Urgent. All staff must be present.I kept replaying the moment I saw the message in Henry’s hands. His expression had fallen so fast it knocked the breath out of me.“Eva,” he had said gently, placing a hand on mine. “I think we have to go back.”I didn’t argue. I couldn’t. But the pit that opened in my stomach refused to close. The cab swerved around a narrow co

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    THE CALL BACK HOME

HENRY’S POV The morning air inside the hotel room was quiet and still, the kind of silence that makes you want to move slowly and hold on to every moment. Sunlight filtered softly through the pale curtains, casting golden stripes over Eva’s bare shoulder where her hair spilled across the pillow. Her breathing was slow, peaceful. I didn't want to move, didn’t want to wake her just yet. These quiet mornings were rare.I carefully reached for my phone from the bedside table, hoping not to disturb her. A few notifications blinked on the screen, most of them were muted from apps I barely checked. Then one caught my eye—a group message from my old workplace, the company I work at back in Los Angeles. The message had come from the top of the chain. Lucas.Attention: Mandatory Company EventThe words jumped out at me, followed by a time, date, and a location. It was set for two days from now, in Los Angeles. The part that really stuck with me was the line: "Mr. Lucas will address the team p

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    COUPLES DAY OUT

HENRY’S POVThe morning light crept into our hotel suite through sheer curtains, soft and golden. I blinked awake to the quiet hum of the city far below, and for a moment, I wasn’t sure where I was. Then I turned my head and saw her.Eva.Her head rested against my shoulder, dark lashes brushing her cheek. Her bare arm draped across my chest, and her breath rose and fell in a slow, steady rhythm. Last night played back in flashes—her laugh against my neck, the way her fingertips had moved across my skin, the softness of her kiss, the quiet moans in the dark. Our wedding night had been everything I dreamed of. Gentle, slow, deep. Not rushed or messy, but filled with care. She gave herself to me, and I tried to make sure she felt safe in my arms. I remembered how she whispered my name, how her eyes closed in surrender, how she held on to me like she didn’t want to let go.I looked at her now and wondered what was going on inside her mind.Because even with all that, something still felt

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    TIME OFF TOGETHER

EVA'S POVParis sparkled beneath us as the plane descended, a stretch of golden lights beneath a dark velvet sky. Henry squeezed my hand, eyes dancing with excitement.“We’re here,” he whispered, kissing my knuckles. “Our honeymoon.”I smiled, but it didn’t reach my eyes.At the hotel, we were led to a suite that looked like it belonged in a romance movie. Soft lighting, rose petals scattered across crisp sheets, and the faint scent of vanilla in the air.Henry came up behind me as I stood by the balcony, arms wrapping gently around my waist.“You okay?” he asked.I nodded. “Yeah. Just taking it all in.”He turned me around slowly, hands on my hips. “You’re my wife now,” he said with a soft smile. “I still can’t believe it.”He kissed me—slow and full of emotion. His lips moved over mine, and I kissed him back, letting myself be drawn into the warmth of the moment. We undressed between kisses and quiet laughter, fingers trailing over skin like whispers. EVA’S POVI froze against the tiled wall, my breath catching as the masked man stepped out into the harsh hallway light. Lucas lunged forward.“Stop!” he shouted, grabbing for the man’s arm.The stranger twisted free with a fluid motion. He wasn’t clumsy or panicked. He was skilled. He darted down the corridor, mask in place.“Dammit!” Lucas cursed, racing after him. He nearly caught the edge of the man’s jacket, but the figure slipped away around a corner before Lucas could pull off the mask.I pressed a hand to my mouth. “Lucas—”He came back, breathless, sliding to a stop beside me. “He got away,” he panted.I hugged myself. “I can’t do this anymore, Lucas. I’m getting married tomorrow morning. I have to go back.”He looked at me hard for a moment. Then he straightened, eyes softening.“Okay,” he said quietly. “I understand.”He walked away without another word.I watched him go, my chest tight. Then I turned and left the restroom.Back in the party room, balloons and laughter fill

"Someone was here. They left a photo… of us. They are watching me, Lucas."There was a heavy pause."You need to come out tomorrow," he said firmly. "We can meet with Mark. He will know if there is proof or maybe gotten some evidence, something we can use to stop whoever is behind this."I shook my head fiercely, even though he could not see me."I cannot," I said, voice cracking. "Tomorrow is my bridal and Henry’s bachelor night party. I have a dress fitting with Naomi. I cannot just disappear."Silence stretched between us."Eva," Lucas said finally, his voice almost breaking. "This is bigger than a party.""I know," I whispered. "But I cannot."An
